Chapter 14: You Were the One Behind It Again!

"Move aside! Don't you dare touch my master! Your Majesty… When had Her Highness ever done anything to let you down? How could you force her to die like this!?" Yue Chan scrambled to her feet and blocked the guards that were trying to walk in as she glared at Ye Hongyi.

"How dare you spout nonsense! Guards, drag her out and beat her to death!" When Ye Hongyi heard Yue Chan's angry screams, he became even more certain that Xie Siyin already knew about everything! In the end, he was still a step late. If he had punished her with the death penalty for poisoning Imperial Physician Zheng, it would've been much easier to deal with this matter. As of now, all he could do was kill Yue Chan first to destroy evidence.

"Let me go! Your Majesty! You sure are heartless! Her Highness had been so loyal to you! Yet you actually did this!? You're utterly devoid of conscience!" Yue Chan screamed hysterically as she pushed frentically at the guards that were trying to grab her.

"Execute her now!" shouted Ye Hongyi, his expression dark. When the guards heard, they drew their swords, but before they could swing down, a strong powerful voice made them freeze.

"This old man would like to see who dares! Daughter… oh my poor daughter!" Everyone looked over only to see an old man past sixty rush in with disheveled clothing. He threw himself towards Xie Siyin's corpse and his sobs seemed to cause the entire Ordinance Palace to shake.

This was the tower of strength in the state of Chu. He had been a senior figure in court for three dynasties and was also a relative of the emperor. He spent his life on the battlefield and dedicated it to handling military matters. He hadn't even blinked when he got injuries deep enough to make his bone show, but when he saw his daughter's corpse, he howled with grief as tears streamed down his face.

"Prince! You must get justice for Her Highness! It was His Majesty! His Majesty was the one that forced Her Highness to kill herself!" When Xie Zhong appeared, Yue Chan immediately knelt down and started beseeching him.

"Yue Chan! Stop speaking nonsense!" Ye Hongyi never imagined that Xie Zhong would arrive so quickly, nor that Yue Chan would suddenly reveal everything like this. If she revealed everything, Xie Siyin's reputation would also be destroyed!

"Speak! Why would this old man's daughter commit suicide? What exactly did she suffer!?" Xie Zhong's strong voice was like a knell that resounded in everyone's hearts and made their eardrums hurt.

Even though Ye Hongyi was the monarch, he was still a little afraid of Xie Zhong since numerous princes of the older generation were high ranking military generals that had braved fire and water with Xie Zhong. They still followed Xie Zhong loyally. If it weren't for the fact that he had gotten news that Xie Zhong was severely ill, he wouldn't have sped up the scheme against Jian Chen and Xie Siyin. However, from the looks of it now, Xie Zhong was more healthy than he had been led to believe!

There was no way it'd occur to Ye Hongyi that Yao Mowan had carefully engineered all of this.

"Replying Prince! Ever since Her Highness entered the palace, His Majesty has acted very courteous towards Her Highness on the surface, but he had actually hidden saffron in Ordinance Palace and secretly poisoned Her Highness! Her Highness had drunk countless bowls of supplemental tonic in hopes of helping His Majesty give birth to a son! She prayed for years! But it turned out… Wuwuu… Her Highness couldn't take this harsh truth, that was why she gave up on life! Prince… Her Highness had died with grievances!" Yue Chan crawled to Xie Zhong as she wailed this.

"Saffron? Poison? Ye Hongyi! How dare you!?" Xie Zhong white brows furrowed tightly and his eyes turned bloodshot from anger. He turned around to rush towards Ye Hongyi, but was stopped by the surrounding guards.

"Yue Chan, how dare you try to frame us! When had we ever poisoned Consort De? And how could there be saffron in this room!? It was Consort De that used iXour favor towards her to threat human life as grass. Imperial Physician Zheng had been killed by you two. The evidence is conclusive, but you're still refusing to admit it!" Ye Hongyi shouted angrily to conceal his shock.

"That's right! This servant had poisoned Imperial Physician Zheng to death! Because this servant saw him add seven leaves to Her Highness's supplemental tonic! It was an amount large enough to be fatal! Prince! This servant isn't speaking nonsense! Doctor Li from your residence had snuck in to check Her Highness's condition. Not only had she been given a lot of slow-acting poison, due to the fact that she had inhaled saffron for a long period of time, she had become infertile!" shouted Yue Chan. She abruptly stood up and ran into the bedroom to pull out the red sandalwood table. Then, in front of everyone, she lifted a chair and swung it towards the table leg.

The heavy impact caused the saffron powder hidden inside the leg of the table to explode into the air. The strong herbal smell was unmistakable.

"Prince, this is proof! Before Her Highness died, she told this servant that His Majesty must have feared the Xie family's power, that's why he hadn't allowed her to become pregnant with the imperial seed! Her Highness even said… she said she would do as His Majesty desired… However, this servant never would've thought that she meant she would end her own life! Your Highness… how could you bear to leave the prince behind? How could you leave this servant behind!?" Yue Chan wailed heartbrokenly as tears streamed down her face.

"Ye Hongyi! How could you treat this old man's daughter this way!? How could you treat Yinyin this way!? This old man will avenge his daughter!" Xie Zhong used all his strength to try and shake off the guards. Perhaps he had overexerted himself, because his vision went dark and he abruptly collapsed.

The moment he fell, five figures instantly appeared around him and forced the guards to retreat.

"Who are you guys?" Originally, Ye Hongyi had planned to kill Xie Zhong while he was unconscious, but unexpectedly, Xie Zhong hadn't come here alone.

"We're the Benevolent Prince's hidden guards. We are loyal only to the Benevolent Prince." As the person dressed in black spoke, the rest had already lifted Xie Zhong up and disappeared with him. By the time Ye Hongyi reacted, they were already gone.

"Preposterous! Is he trying to revolt!?" As a monarch, there was no way Ye Hongyi could stand being disregarded like this. So at this moment, Ye Hongyi turned his furious dark gaze towards Yue Chan.

"Guards! Drag Yue Chan out right now and execute her!" shouted Ye Hongyi. Yue Chan knew that her mission was completed, so even if she died, it had been worth it. Just as she had prepared herself for her imminent fate, Yin Xue pulled Yue Chan out of there in a flash.

"Revolted! They've all revolted! Throw Xie Siyin's corpse in the Disorder Burial Mound! Throw it right now!" Ye Hongyi exploded. Two people had been saved from right in front of him. His status as the monarch had been completely disregarded, how could he not be angry! In addition, his upcoming battle with the Benevolent Prince worried him.

When Yao Mowan turned to return to Guan Osprey Palace, she saw that Yao Suluan was currently glaring at her fiercely.

"This was your doing! You had staged this entire incident, didn't you?" Yao Suluan emitted a baleful aura as she demanded answers in a low voice.

"That's right. I did all of this. You should hurry and tell His Majesty. He's currently very angry, so maybe he'd actually give a decree to kill me in the heat of the moment!" Yao Mowan's cherry lips lifted slightly as she walked to Yao Suluan with soft swaying steps. Her long eyelashes fluttered slightly as she continued.

"However, it'd be hard to say if His Majesty would believe you. Don't end up failing to steal the chicken and getting yourself covered in feces instead. Oh! I almost forgot, Second Older Sister is currently a fool. His Majesty probably wouldn't believe a fool's words."

"You had planned all of this in order to ruin His Majesty's relationship with the Benevolent Prince! Yao Mowan, you hate His Majesty!" Yao Suluan glowered at Yao Mowan as she declared this.

"Ha, if you have proof, you should go to His Majesty. Mowan doesn't have the time to waste listening to your pointless words!" The amusement in Yao Mowan's eyes faded as she moved to past Yao Suluan, but she was pulled back.

"Yao Mowan, what exactly do you know? What exactly are you trying to do!?" shouted Yao Suluan like she was near falling apart. However, Yao Mowan turned around and grabbed her by the collar.

"Whatever you did to Eldest Sister, Mowan will do to you! Yao Suluan, the Heavens witness all human actions! Do you really think that no one knows about the things you did?" Yao Mowan turned to look at her straight on. Her clear eyes seemed to contain eternal ice, Yao Suluan involuntarily trembled from that gaze.
