Chapter 2: Chapter 1. The First Crew Member

It's been 2 hours since Alex flew out of the falling island. He had travelled very far from it; however, he still couldn't find a place filled with people.

His observation haki was working crazily yet he couldn't feel a single presence except for the presence of those fishes under the sea.

For a second, he even wondered if he was outside of East Blue; however, he quickly shot down that thought because he knew that the Golden Lion would never leave East Blue, no matter what happens.

He kept flying for some more time and finally felt a lot of presence quite near him. "Finally!!' He shouted with a tired smile as he was tired of seeing only blue sea and sky.

Increasing his speed of flying, he reached the village which seemed to be divided into two parts. On one side, it was a normal village however on the other side, there stood a tall building with a very familiar flag.

"Since the flag is still up, it seems that Luffy still hasn't come here…." Muttering under his breath, he glanced around himself before landing on the ground, near the entrance area of the village.

On the entrance, there was a board which said Cocoyashi Village.

He glanced at it for a second before walking inside the village. Just like it is shown in the anime, the entire village appeared to be empty as no one dared to come outside.

He leisurely walked around, looking for the purple-haired girl. She was someone he was going to recruit for his crew. With the devil's fruit in his hands, he was sure that she would be able to bring out its potential.

"Are you new here, young man?" Suddenly an old man came out of an alley, looking at Alex with a worried expression.

"I just arrived here." Alex nodded at the old man who was like a father figure for the main girls of this village. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he asked with a curious tone. "Why haven't I seen anyone outside?"

"Shh!!!" The old man motioned him to close his eyes and then signalled him to follow him.

Alex glanced at the other side from where 2 presence were coming before following the old man. This was way easier than searching for that purple-haired girl in the village by using his observation haki.

After all, he was not at the level of that blind Admiral who could even see the figures using his observation haki.

After walking for some time like thieves, they finally arrived at the house. The old man opened the door and motioned Alex to come inside.

"Nojiko! Are you here?" The old man shouted, looking at the door on the opposite side.

"What happened, Genzo?" Opening the door, a girl came out, looking slightly worried. "You never come at this time unless something happens?" She asked anxiously. Though her expression immediately relaxed when she saw the new face.

Taking a seat on the sofa, she looked at Alex from head to toe. "Did he just come to this village?" Seeing her father figure nod affirmatively at her question, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Why is there so much tension?" Alex asked with a small smile.

"You don't know, this entire island was taken over by the Arlong pirates. He is a fish-man, someone who can crush people like us very easily." Nojiko replied with a sad smile, remembering her step-sister who has gone out to free this village.

"A mere fish-man?" Alex couldn't help but scoff at her words. Even before he got the system, he was still strong enough to kill people like Arlong, albeit with a lot of difficulties.

A frightened expression appeared on their faces when they heard his mocking words. They immediately stood up and walked toward him.

"If any of them heard your words, you'll die a painful death." Nojiko placed her hands on his shoulders and tried to shake him a little. Though it failed as his body was too strong for her to move.

"She is right, young man. Those fish-men are not someone you can afford to offend." Genzo spoke with a serious expression, completely agreeing with her stepdaughter's words. 

Alex looked at her hands with a narrowed gaze which was noticed by Nojiko who immediately withdrew her hands. "I don't care about your thoughts as for those fish-men, I need to kill them to fulfil a certain goal of mine."

The duo of father and daughter were about to say something however they immediately shut their mouths cause he released a little amount of his conqueror haki.

Grabbing her hand, he looked into her eyes causing her heartbeat to speed up by a small amount due to the sudden physical contact. "Take me to their base, Nojiko." Since he was still using the conqueror's haki, she couldn't muster her courage to deny his words.

Seeing this, a smirk appeared on his face. Conqueror haki was a little like hypnosis though it was very subtle. Only a very few people could use it effectively and people label it as the charisma belonging to that person. As of now, he was sure that only Shanks and Luffy can use his conqueror haki in this way. Though one can have full control while the other one was using it unknowingly.

Genzo stood there watching his stepdaughter taking out the young man to the base of that horrible fishmen. He wanted to stop them however he couldn't just open his mouth for some reason.

On the way to the fish-men base, Alex began to chat with her about the things that had happened in the village. She began to tell him about the things that these fish-men did in the past so she could stop him from doing something so reckless.

She wasn't not stopping him just because she developed some feelings for him, she just didn't want him to die even when he could easily go back and live normally.

Now, both of them stood outside of the gate which would lead them inside the base of Arlong pirates.

"You are still going to fight them, Alex?" Nojiko asked once again, looking at the symbol of those fish-man pirates which reminded her of the awful things that had happened in the past 8 years on this island.

"You worry too much, Nojiko. Your worldview regarding strength is very small." Alex looked around himself and picked up some small stones. "Today, I'll show you what real strength is so you won't doubt me in the future." With a chuckle, he pushed the door and began to walk inside.

"I still haven't decided…..yet!" Nojiko muttered under her breath, thinking about the proposal that he had given her earlier. 

Shaking her head, she walked sideways and climbed a wall from where she could see everything that was happening inside the water park.

The fishmen who were talking among themselves suddenly stopped when they noticed a human figure walking toward them.

Though before anyone could say anything, the stones placed in Alex's hands flew at an astonishing speed and pierced the neck of every one of them, killing them effortlessly.

Seeing his subordinate's bodies falling on the ground, Arlong who was sitting on a throne a little above the ground madly glared at Alex.

"Don't get pumped up, Arlong. You are gonna meet them in the afterlife as well." Saying that he disappeared from his place and appeared above the throne. "Goodbye, Arlong. I'll make sure to inform your sister about your sudden death."

Covering his fist in armament haki, he punched at the head of Arlong whose head immediately got separated from his body. Kicking the body away from the throne, he sat on it and turned to look in the direction from where Nojiko was watching all of this.

"How is it, Nojiko? Do you now want to join my crew?" Alex asked with a carefree smile, not paying any attention to the hundreds of dead bodies around him.

Nojiko, who was in a daze, woke up after hearing his playful words. Everything happened so suddenly that she didn't understand what to feel. "8-8 years of misery because of them…!"

Slowly, tears started to fall from her eyes however unlike the previous moments, this time, she was crying because of the happiness that she was feeling.

"You still haven't answered me, Nojiko. Should I just kidnap you and take you away?" Alex's playful voice resounded in the water park, making her laugh.

She jumped inside the water park and walked toward him, her eyes happily looking at the dead bodies of those fishmen. "I'm willing to join your crew, Captain Alex. And I'm eternally grateful for the things that you did for us today."

"As my crew member, make sure to plunder every valuable thing from this place." After Ordering her, he closed his eyes and looked at the system which was once again filled with a lot of notifications.

He quickly looked through it before he stopped at a notification that made him smile.

Alex quickly agreed to it as this was something very good for him. After he was done getting the ability, he opened his eyes and walked down from the throne.

His observation haki picked up multiple presences coming towards the water park. "It seems that Genzo didn't want me to die, huh?" He felt a little funny at the kindness of the old man cause he originally planned to kidnap Nojiko to make her join his crew however he dropped that idea as she would have never given him loyalty. He didn't want her to betray him over some words from some other pirate group.

Nojiko, who had entered the building earlier, also came out with some bags in her hands which were filled with money. She happily waved at the villagers who were looking around themselves in shock.

"Everyone, we are saved now. We don't need to live in fear anymore." Nojiko happily spoke with a big smile on her face, pulling out the villagers from their stupor.

"Haha, finally! We are free!!!'

"Now, we don't have to live in fear anymore, everyone."

"Haha, these dead bodies make me very happy."

The villagers began to cheer and laugh loudly, feeling the burden on their chests getting lower, gradually fading away.

"Keep quiet everyone. Take the children back to the village. This is not something that they should see." Genzo immediately took control of the situation and began to give instructions. Even though he wanted to laugh along with them, this was not the best place.

The villagers listened to his orders and began to take their children outside of the water park. Though everyone's eyes were on the black-haired youth who was responsible for doing something like this.

The villagers and children walked outside of the water park. Though none of them returned to the village, they all wanted to talk to their saviour and express their gratitude.

Genzo motioned some of the villagers to take the bags from his daughter's hands as she was having trouble lifting them. With a smile, he walked toward Alex and bowed a little. "On the behalf of the villagers, I sincerely thank you, young man."

Alex simply waved his hands, looking at Nojiko. "I only did it because of Nojiko. I don't think you should all be grateful to me." What he said was right because he never planned to save them if he had landed on some other island.

He wasn't playing the role of a saviour, to begin with, and with his system, he was bound to kill a lot of great figures eventually making himself an enemy of most of the people of this world.

Genzo didn't say anything and began to walk outside of the water park along with his daughter, curiously asking about the things that transpired during his absence.

Alex looked at the building one last time before he too began to walk outside of the water park,  not even caring about the sea cow who was shivering in fear in the sea.

"You should go back, for now, Nojiko. I still need to take care of another problem before I can finish my deal with you." Standing outside of the water park, Alex spoke to Nojiko who nodded much to the confusion of the villagers.

Placing one of his hands on the ground under him, he motioned everyone to get back. To the astonishment of everyone, the ground began to shake rapidly and cracks began to form on it before it began to levitate slowly.

When it was a little above their head, Alex began to close his palm, and in turn, the ground along with the entire water park began to press together, forming a giant ball under the eyes of everyone.

Nodding at his work, he flew in the air and began to fly towards a certain direction where the Marine Base was situated. Even though Nojiko had told him about the base location however he still made sure to use his observation haki fully.

Only when the ball and Alex were out of their view that they came out of their stupor.

"Is this something we, h-humans could do?"

"T-This is not the work of a human, t-this is the work of a God…!!!"

"The big brother is so cool!!!"

The ground where the water park was situated was now slowly getting filled with seawater. Though the large hole in the sea could still send a chill in their heart.

Genzo, as if remembering something, turned to look at his adoptive daughter. "Y-You! What deal did you make with him, Nojiko?" He was scared for his daughter, thinking that she made some awful deal just like how his other adoptive daughter has made in the past and was suffering for it till now.

"Don't worry, Genzo. He only asked me to be his crew member if he could get rid of those fish-man pirates." Hearing her words, everyone calmed down. Though none of them knew if her decision was good cause for them, she got rid of one pirate group and fell under another pirate who was way more dangerous than the previous one.

"Let's go back, everyone. We still need to prepare a feast for our saviour and ourselves for finally getting our freedom back." Nojiko spoke with a smile and began to walk toward the village, followed by everyone.
