The strong bodies of the spiders were unable to put up any resistance against Yao Jun's attacks, splitting apart the moment they came into contact with his sword. Their severed parts were quickly sucked into the darkness and then absorbed by his God Gate, but even after Yao Jun had absorbed over 10 small spiders, there were no new signs of life coming from the God Gate.
Yao Jun also glanced at the dead and dying soldiers around him. There was nothing he could do for the dying, as it was the poison from the spiders that was killing them. As for the dead, while he wanted to see if the people of the World Tree Clan had crystals similar to the ones that the Final Fire Clan had, he did not dare touch the bodies, just in case Diana was looking.
Since Yao Jun was now focusing on taking out the spiders, the battle slowed down somewhat, neither sides able to easily breach the enemy formations. After all, not everyone was like Yao Jun, a monster who could use a wide variety of laws. But as Yao Jun started to kill more and more spiders, a nagging feeling assaulted his mind.
It was simply going too easy. Even after Yao Jun had killed close to 50 spiders, there was no response from the Final Fire Clan. If this Spider Hive beast truly was their trump card for this war, they most certainly had a way to monitor its state. Could it be that the 50 spiders he had killed were not worth mentioning, or was there something else going on?
Yao Jun's vigilance continued to rise, he even slowed down the speed at which he killed the spiders, dodging in and out of the shadows as he moved. Using his control over the spatial laws, he connected his mind to the surrounding space, keeping a close watch on everything that moved in the area around him.
Yao Jun only fought for the World Tree Clan because it was convenient, there was no way he would risk his life for them, the moment things looked like they might go wrong, he would instantly turn around and flee. At best, he would drag Reyner and the others back to base. But that was only if things went wrong, so he could only hope that things didn't go wrong. After all, the more he fought, the more money he would acquire.
Once Yao Jun managed to kill a few more spiders, reaching a total of almost 70 slain, there was finally a change within his God Gate. He didn't gain a new law or increase his cultivation, but a breath of new life finally appeared.
The nearly 70 spiders he had slain all turned into a viscous liquid, moving towards each other and merging into a single spider. The spider looked the same as the others, a dark-green carapace covered in small thorns, but it was larger than those he had seen so far, almost as large as Yao Jun's head.
But even though there was a breath of life coming from the spider, it was simply lying on the ground with vacant and empty eyes, as if it was in a coma. But it was enough to show Yao Jun that he only had to absorb more spiders if he wanted to complete his own Spider Hive beast. Yao Jun did not let this excitement get to his head, as he was still filled with a nagging feeling of danger. His instincts had been honed through painful training and bloody battle, they had never wronged him before, so he would not disregard them now.
It seemed that it wasn't only Yao Jun who was feeling that something was wrong. As he checked the surroundings, he saw a few Squad Captains that had slowed their offense, ordering their soldiers to slow down and focus on a more defensive fighting style. The Final Fire Clan, on the other hand, took advantage of the World Tree Clan squads going on the defensive, increasing the ferocity of their attacks.
Thanks to Zhuyin, Yao Jun could completely disregard the flames of these Final Fire Clan soldiers, but the rest of the World Tree Clan soldiers could not. Some of them cultivated in the laws of fire, so they could resist the flames, but there were quite a few that suffered a great deal because of the increased ferocity of the flames. Even worse for the other soldiers was the fact that parts of the Spider Hive beast were hidden in the oncoming flames, latching onto the defenses of the soldiers and poisoning them.
Yao Jun did not stop his attacks, still harvesting spiders and killing soldiers whenever he saw the chance. But since his vigilance never lowered, he was able to notice that as the Final Fire Clan soldiers shot out their flames, their skin shriveled up somewhat, their eyes dimming. Could it be that the flames of the Final Fire Clan were the same to them as blood was to humans?
Despite his discovery, Yao Jun chose to not keep thinking about it for now, nor was he given the time to continue thinking about it. Just as he killed another spider, the nagging feeling at the back of his mind turned into a horrid sense of danger. Yao Jun immediately jumped into the smallest shadow he could find, using the spatial laws to create a cover around him, adding another layer around him to hide him.
A large explosion sounded out from the distance, a pillar of golden flames shooting into the sky and dispersing the clouds in the sky. Two more pillars of flames shot into the sky shortly after, but these were smaller and a light blue in color. As flames started to cover the sky and the Final Fire Clan soldiers started to tremble with excitement, the World Tree Clan soldiers started to back up, their faces covered in nervous expressions.
While the World Tree Clan soldiers backed up, a deafening roar rang out from the camp behind them, the flames that covered the sky forced back by the roar. Right after the roar rang out, a massive tree made out of pure white bones grew into the sky, a ferocious tornado appearing next to it. As the World Tree Clan soldiers looked at the camp behind them with awe, Diana's loud voice rang out.
"What's the matter, Radulf, are you thinking of taking part in such a low-level battle?"

Diana appeared in the air above the bone tree, the green scales on her neck turning pitch black as they started to spread upwards, her two Legion Commanders joining her, standing not far from her. Emeric stood atop the bone tree, the bony horns atop his head wriggling slightly as his golden eye glimmered with excitement. And Isolde, her purple robe and blond hair fluttering in the wind, was riding the tornado as if it was a gentle breeze. Shortly after Diana spoke up, a low voice rang out from the golden flames, the voice easily reaching everyone on the battlefield.
"I must say, Diana, you truly managed to pick up some good reinforcements. Tell me, where did you manage to buy such a good Chimera Warrior? It can't have been the Merged Heaven Clan, did you find another clan that specializes in Chimera Warriors, or did you steal the knowledge from the Merged Heaven Clan?"
Out from the three pillars of flame came three people, two men, and one woman. The man standing in the front resembled Watkin, his body tall and slim, with his charcoal skin smooth like silk. But unlike the other Final Fire Clan members, Yao Jun had seen, this man had long golden hair, and the cracks in his skin were also golden in color, his entire body looking like a piece of art.
The man and woman behind him were also rather tall and slim, the man's body a bit more muscular than the two others. The woman had long blue hair, while the man had short and spiky blue hair. The cracks in their skin were also glowing with a blue light, so Yao Jun guessed that the color of the cracks depended on the flames that they used. Diana wore a faint smile on her face as she tilted her head.
"Oh? And what makes you so confident that I didn't get my Chimera Warrior from the Merged Heaven Clan? Since you can buy a Spider Hive beast, I can, of course, buy a Chimera Warrior."
Diana didn't bother trying to correct Radulf's misunderstanding that Yao Jun was a Chimera Warrior. After all, as far as Radulf knew, only a Chimera Warrior could successfully cultivate that many differing laws, even cultivating the contradicting laws of fire and ice. But Diana's smile quickly faded after a faint and feminine laugh rang out from the distant right.
"It's quite simple really, it's because we are currently working together."
After the voice rang out and Diana's smile faded, the shadow of a massive horned behemoth covered in black scales appeared behind Diana as she turned towards the right. Her icy voice ringing out and stinging the ears of everyone who heard it.
"Elysande. It seems like you have decided to go completely against my clan."
After Diana spoke out, a horrifying sense of suppression radiated from the behemoth shadow behind her, space in the distant right shimmering. A large formation appeared in the air, covering a vast distance, an army of people appearing out of thin air.
The army consisted of both people and Demonic beasts, but Yao Jun could see that the people that were part of the army were not completely human, parts of their bodies replaced with Demonic beast parts. From the Demonic beasts, Yao Jun could hear the same pained howls that the spiders had released, but it seemed like no one else was able to hear them.
two people stood at the front of the army, one man and one woman. The man had a gargantuan body, almost reaching 10 meters in height. His skin was brown, gnarled and twisted, almost like tree bark. His arms and thighs were as thick as logs, orange hair covering his shoulders and neck. His lower jaw was very pronounced and thick, two tusks growing up to his hook-like nose.
The woman stood a bit in front of him and was almost the polar opposite of the man. Her body was the same size as a normal human's, her skin smooth and supple. She had long, violet hair that looked like it was made from the purest of silk. But she was clearly not normal, as she had three smaller pairs of eyes on her forehead, and there was something coiling around her waist, hidden beneath her robe. Seeing the way Diana was looking at her, the woman, Elysande, the general of the Merged Heaven Clan army, spoke out with a sweet voice.
"Please don't look at me like that, Diana, it's just business."
Diana and the other soldiers of the World Tree Clan wore solemn expressions as they looked at the leaders of the two enemy armies, but Yao Jun did not even glance at any of them, his eyes focused on a male youth with frog-like eyes that was standing behind the gargantuan man. The youth had murky eyes that seemed devoid of any will, but that was not the reason Yao Jun was focusing on him. The reason Yao Jun was focusing on this youth was because he could feel his God Gate trembling whenever he looked at the youth, which meant that it sensed the presence of another God gate.
