After going back to his room, Alex threw everything else at the back of his head. It was time for him to concentrate on the job at hand, of finding the crooks behind the unwarranted ruckus at Theation.
"Her manager is Joe Hoffman. Aahh... that timid guy. I kind of feel bad for him," Alex talked to himself as he went through her details. Offering a quick sympathy to her manager, Alex moved forward.
"Ummm... Notable Works are The Forgotten City, Sweetheart and 7 Crooks and The one night stand," Alex read further, "Well, haven't watched any of them." Alex shrugged.
Turning the pages, he read more, "Now, personal information. That's what I want to know," Alex looked keenly at the pages in front of him, "Born in Afghanistan... Immigrated here when she was ten along with her family... Lived in refugee camps for a couple of years... Worked as a child actress in a war movie... seven other siblings... blah... blah... blah... Well, nothing useful till now," Alex continued, "Signed by Theation in December 2017. She left Dreams Entertainment even before her contract came to annulation. The annulation amount was bored by Theation. Starred mostly as a supporting actress in her works. The movies she appeared in as the lead actress were low budget and failed to perform at the box office."
Like that, Alex went through every detail they had on Suzie, but he could not find anything worthwhile in her files. It made him wonder why anyone would expend their resources and time trying to frame someone not so popular.
'I should look into him as well,' Alex thought as he grabbed the file with Abir's details. It was too soon to come to a conclusion.
"Abir Johnson, Age twenty-two, oh well, he did look kind of young. Well, he is already printing cash despite his young age, and here I am, thinking of ways to save his ass." Alex sighed, thinking about fate.
"The manager iss... Bertha Adams," Alex went through the details, "She looked genuinely concerned about the little guy."
"Not bad... Not bad... He has quite a few works up his bag. Notable Works are... Dragon's Nest, The Immortal Witch, Love in Paris and The Runaway Bride. This Runaway Bride looks like an interesting title. I should binge it sometime."
Alex then moved on to Abir's personal details, "Started off his career in the theatres. Bertha was the one who scouted him after seeing his performances in one of the plays and signed him immediately in 2016. While taking supporting roles in movies, he still tries to act in theatres whenever possible. His popularity has been steadily on the rise since his arrival at Theation. With millions of followers on Social media, Theation has arranged to cast him in a coming of age romantic comedy for the first time as the main lead.
'It's the same,' Alex shook his head as he went through the information on Abir.
Even after reading about Abir, Alex still could not find why anyone would want to target the two of them on a personal level. There are only two possibilities then, either the two incidents with Abir and Suzie are mere coincidences, or someone is trying to target Theation through them. And from the looks of it, everything points to the possibility of the latter.
And if the latter is true, then it's possible that they are either the victims, "Or they are a partner in crime," Alex couldn't help but think of this possibility.
'But everything seems to be going in their way. They are on a high road. Will they blow it all away? For what?' These were some of the few questions Alex needed to find the answers to.
As Alex was about to close the file on details on Abir, his eyes fell on the torn part of the sheet in the lower right corner. Something was written there, in very small font, just like the terms and conditions on products.
"Brother of the famous..." Alex tried to read it, but everything after that was torn away.
'What could it be? Is he the brother of someone famous? Another celebrity?' Alex couldn't help but ponder, 'But there are so many with Johnson in their name,' Alex thought as he looked at the torn paper, 'Why would it have to be torn from here only?'
Alex closed the file and threw it to the side. He then picked up the documents submitted by the police and went through them one by one.
"It's already half-past eight. At this rate, you won't be able to make it to your office on time," Martha said, shaking Alex.
"What? What did you say? Half... Half-past what?" Hearing Martha, Alex sat straight with a jolt. Like a fish out of water, he skimmed around him to spot a clock.
"Relax... Relax..." Martha caught him by his shoulder and tried to calm him down, "There is still time. No need to panic."
By the time Martha finished, Alex was also more level-headed. Without saying anything, he crashed back and lay on the bed.
"What are you doing? I said not to panic, but you are still late," Martha was surprised to see Alex drop like a rag once again.
"I am not going to the office today," Alex said as he pulled the blanket over his chest.
"Why? Is something going on?" Martha was always anxious about Alex's health. When she heard Alex, Martha put her hand over his head to check his temperature.
"It's nothing," Alex grabbed Martha's wrist, “I am going to work outside of the office. Some random stuff.”
“Well, if that’s the case then do as you please,” Martha said. She was not very much curious about what he was up to.
"Come, join me," Just as Martha wanted to leave, Alex pulled her towards him.
“Eeehhh,” Martha was taken by surprise by that pull, and without anything for her to hold on to, she ended up falling on Alex's chest.
With her hair all over Alex's face, Alex couldn't help but chuckle. It was fun for him. He put his arms around her and pulled her into a cuddle. Alex didn’t move anymore and closed his eyes in with a satisfied smile on his face. While Martha shuddered every time Alex’s warm breath brushed past her neck. Alex slowly moved his hand over her back and continued to gently stroke it.
“Alex, I need to go prepare breakfast for your father,” Martha softly said.
“Just a few minutes. Let me feel your warmth,” Alex smiled and tightened his embrace around Martha.
“Huhh?”
Martha was taken aback by the choice of words by Alex. She tried to look at Alex but her hair were blocking her sight. Alex, gently he tucked them behind her ear and was looking into her eyes. His hand gently pulled her hair back and tucked them behind. As he did, his cold hand brushed his cheek, sending another wave of shiver down her body.
Martha knew what this sensation was, it has been long, but she has never forgotten how she felt whenever George touched her. It was the touch of a man.
Martha wanted to push herself away, but though her mind said that, her body wouldn't listen. Alex gently caressed her cheeks, and slowly and gently, his hand trailed down her neck. He gently caressed the back of her neck and would give it light squeezes. Martha had her eyes closed, and she was enjoying the moment they were in.
"Honey..." Just as she was about to lose herself in the feeling, the moment was disturbed by George, who called out for Martha from downstairs.
That call from George brought back Martha to her senses. She pushed herself away from Alex and stood up adjusting her nightdress. Avoiding eye contact with Alex, she walked out of the room without saying anything.
"Shit," Alex couldn't help but curse. He put his palms over his face rubbing it in frustration.
'What was I thinking?' Alex thought. He did it all on a whim and had no ulterior motive. It was all for fun. Thinking about the events from moments ago, Alex looked down below at the bulging tower in his trousers, 'Thank god, she didn't notice.'
