Leng Sihan’s pupils shrank violently in response, and he looked at Shen Jiangling in disbelief.

“I’m tired and I don’t want to continue anymore.” Shen Jiangling relaxed a lot after speaking, “Since you have someone you like now, isn’t this quite good?”

“Shen Jiangling! Do you know what you’re saying?” Leng Sihan had always been arrogant and conceited, so he never thought there would be a day when he would be dumped by someone he felt was below him.

“I know.” Shen Jiangling patted Mother Shen’s hand with a reassuring smile, “Regardless of whether you agree or not, I’m breaking off the engagement.”

Whoever wants to be the vicious supporting character that helped build the protagonists’ love and career can do it, he doesn’t want to anymore!

“Mom, I’m hungry.” Shen Jiangling looked at Mother Shen with a pitiful expression after speaking.

“Okay, let’s leave now.” Mother Shen couldn’t wait for Shen Jiangling to be as far away from Leng Sihan as possible, so when she heard this, she promptly took the person to leave.

“Shen Jiangling!” Leng Sihan clenched his fist. He felt the eyes of the people spectating around them, and whether it was out of curiosity or ridicule, he couldn’t wait to find a hole in the ground to bury himself.

He had always been put on a high pedestal and admired by others, yet today he has lost all face.

Leng Sihan looked at Shen Jiangling, and seeds of hatred were planted in his heart. He threatened, “Don’t regret it in the future!”

Shen Jiangling snorted and didn’t even turn around.

It’s uncertain who will regret it.

The original owner loved Leng Sihan so much that he couldn’t wait to pick the stars and the moon out of the sky to please him.

But Leng Sihan actually destroyed the original owner and his family, who all treated him so well, for the sake of a narcissistic, black-hearted lotus.

To call him a scum was an insult to the word “scum.”

He wants to see how long this so-called “true love” could last without the support of the Shen Family.

Bai Lianhua was only an ordinary person and wasn’t worth worrying about.

As long as Leng Sihan fell, he wouldn’t be able to jump around for much longer either.

Shen Jiangling turned back and glanced at Leng Sihan, whose face was flushed red with anger. A mocking curve flashed by.

He should be grateful that in order to make the existence of the vicious supporting character more reasonable, the original author did not create Leng Sihan as the type of high-powered and domineering president who controlled the lifeline of the entire economy in his hands. Leng Sihan’s career path was not all that smooth sailing.

Leng Sihan, don’t be too angry. This was just the beginning.

There is still a good show ahead.

One day, I will have you kneeling on the ground, grief-stricken and repenting for everything you’ve done!

**

It was already dark after eating.

Shen Jiangling had been bored in the hospital for several days, so when he saw the bustling streets, he suggested going for a walk.

Father Shen and Big Brother Shen still had business matters to deal with, and Mother Shen was tired from running between the hospital and home these days. After all, Mother Shen wasn’t all that young anymore. Therefore, they asked Jiang Haotian to accompany him.

In consideration of Shen Jiangling’s “recent recovery from a severe illness,” Jiang Haotian didn’t bring him to any overly crowded places. Instead, they strolled around a shopping center.

The heating in the shopping center was on full blast during winter, and Shen Jiangling was wearing a lot of layers, so before long, his face was flushed red from the heat and his body was sweating.

He couldn’t take it anymore and pulled Jiang Haotian to leave.

After going outside, Shen Jiangling was blown by the cold wind and shivered, before eventually feeling alive again.

Jiang Haotian couldn’t help but laugh when he saw his expression of seemingly escaping death. He zipped up Shen Jiangling’s down jacket for him, “Properly wear your clothes, be careful of getting sick from the sudden temperature changes.”

“En.” Shen Jiangling nodded and glanced at the shopping center with some lingering fear.

The two walked leisurely along the road. Initially, it was a little awkward, but it was unknown who took the lead as they slowly began to chat. Before long, smiles graced their faces.

The street light stood in the night, quietly emitting a warm yellow light.

Although it was already eight o’clock in the evening, many pedestrians were still on the street.

Young lovers cuddled together, looking at each other with eyes full of affection.

Parents held their children by the hand, walking slowly.

There were also young girls that came out to play together, sharing the snacks they bought from the roadside stalls.

A gust of wind blew by, and the smell of fried skewers and perfume weaved together, which unexpectedly felt strangely compatible.

Shen Jiangling couldn’t remember the last time he had such a pleasant stroll.

Or maybe he never had.

He was always swamped.

When he was a child, he was busy studying, but also had to clean, do manual labor for money, and take care of the younger children.

After entering university, he had to do various part-time jobs in addition to studying.

In his previous life, he was tired every day.

Not only was his body tired, but his mind was as well.

As an orphan, everything he had and enjoyed was a gift from the country and all the kindhearted people. Therefore he must work hard to repay society.

After working, other than repaying his student loans, Shen Jiangling donated most of his money to the orphanage that once raised him.

As a result, it took him many years to raise enough for a down payment on a two-bedroom apartment of a few dozen square meters in the suburbs.

He always felt that what he did was not enough, and even thought that buying an apartment was unnecessary and selfish. If he didn’t buy a house, that money could help so many people.

But he really wanted a home of his own, even if it was on the smaller side.

Because then he wouldn’t have to repeatedly pack up and move with big and small cases when the lease expired, nor would he have to share a kitchen and bathroom with three or four others.

Nor would he have to worry about being awakened by slamming doors or being unable to fall asleep due to the noise of the washing machine and people chattering.

Nor would he have to drag a tired body to work the next day, only to be reprimanded by his supervisor for his low-quality work as a result of insufficient sleep.

Therefore every time he saw the savings on his bank card, he always felt a mix of joy and guilt.

In a daze, Shen Jiangling stared at the groups of twinkling stars above his head, and suddenly felt that everything he had now was too unreal, like a beautiful dream.

When he wakes up, he’ll be alone again.

He……has always been alone.

Jiang Haotian turned around when he felt the sudden silence beside him and found a cloud of melancholy surrounding the youth who had always been simple-minded.

The cloud seemed to isolate him from the world.

Jiang Haotian suddenly felt a burst of panic for no reason.

When he was about to reach out and hold onto Shen Jiangling, he was startled by the sharp shouts of children.

When he came to his senses, Shen Jiangling had already returned to his original appearance, and it seemed that the scene just now was an illusion.

“Beat it! Hurry and beat it!”

“There’s not enough rocks! I’ll go pick up some more!”

“It’s so dirty!”

……

“What are you doing?” Shen Jiiangling knitted his brows and walked over. He thought they were bullying another child and hurriedly spoke out to stop them.

When the children saw an adult coming, they immediately scattered and ran away.

Shen Jiangling took a closer look and discovered that the one lying on the ground was not a child, but a large and dirty dog.

He hesitated momentarily, then crouched down to see if the big dog was still alive.

When his hand was about to touch the big dog, it suddenly opened its eyes, and its sharp canine teeth radiated a cold light in the darkness, looking especially ferocious.

Shen Jiangling was so startled that he fell backward onto his butt.

He quickly raised his hands to show he was harmless, “I have no ill will towards you, don’t bite me!”

Jiang Haotian’s entire body was tense. As long as the dog made any dangerous moves, he was ready to kick it flying with his leg.

After a few seconds of confrontation, the big dog closed its eyes again and rested its head on its forelegs.

Jiang Haotian stared vigilantly at the large dog as he pulled Shen Jiangling up from the ground. He persuaded, “Let it be, Xiao Ling. Don’t worry about this stray dog and let’s go back. You’ll have to go to the hospital again if it has fleas or some infectious diseases and gets it on you.”

Shen Jiangling knew that Jiang Haotian was doing it for himself, but when he saw the sorry state the dog was in, he couldn’t help but worry.

Shen Jiangling was a floof-con. He has wanted a dog of his own since he was very young, but living in an orphanage, he had to rely on the charity of others for his own livelihood, so what would he use to raise a dog?

After graduating from college, he didn’t have the money to raise one regardless of whether the landlords allowed dogs in their homes or not.

Now that he had fewer worries, Shen Jiangling originally wanted to settle down and discuss it with his family. Afterward, he would buy some things to prepare for it, and then when the time felt right, he would go to the animal shelter to see if there was a suitable dog to bring home.

He didn’t expect to come across one while walking around.

A song suddenly popped into his head. “It must be a special kind of fate——”

The heavens had already sent a dog to him, so what was he waiting for?

Although he originally planned to hug a puppy home, it now seems like the plan couldn’t keep up with the changes.

“Brother Haotian, let’s take it to the pet hospital for treatment. It’s so cold, it’ll freeze to death if we leave it here!” Shen Jiangling eagerly looked at Jiang Haotian.

“……Fine.” Jiang Haotian sighed. Shen Jiangling was just too soft-hearted, but it was better to be soft-hearted toward a dog than a scumbag.

After dealing with Leng Sihan’s wickedness, this was nothing. “You wait here, I’ll go back to the car to see if there’s anything we can put it in.”

Shen Jiangling stood for a while and relaxed when he saw that the dog had no intentions of standing up to attack him.

When he noticed the big dog shivering due to the weather, Shen Jiangling felt a bit distressed, “Are you cold?”

After he asked, he slapped his own head.

How could a dog understand human language?

Shen Jiangling sighed and was worried that something terrible would happen to the dog due to the cold. He took off his own down jacket and carefully approached the big dog with a nervous expression, “Don’t be afraid, I’ll take you to the pet hospital and get your wounds treated, okay?”

The big dog stared at him for a moment, then faintly nodded.

“You can actually understand what people say,” Shen Jiangling curved his lips and bent down to put the down jacket on the big dog, his vigilance raised to the highest.

As long as the big dog revealed the slightest intentions of attacking, he would immediately drop the jacket and run away.

Fortunately, the big dog was obedient and didn’t struggle when picked up.

The corner of Shen Jiangling’s lips hooked up.

Jiang Haotian was rummaging through his car when he heard sudden footsteps behind him. He turned around and found that it was Shen Jiangling. He was only wearing a sweater and seemed to be holding something in his arms. When Jiang Haotian saw the exposed dirty dog legs, all the blood in his body froze.

“Xiao Ling! Aren’t you a little too courageous! What if it bit you!” It was really no joke if such a large dog attacked.

Jiang Haotian was so mad that he almost wanted to press Shen Jiangling onto his legs and spank his butt!

Why was this child so wild!

“It’s okay, he’s very good! He hasn’t moved at all the whole way here.” Shen Jiangling smiled, “Brother Haotian, please open the car door for me, I’ll sit in the back and hold him.”

“What! You give me the dog, I’ll hold it!” Jiang Haotian’s face was full of disapproval.

“Oh, stop arguing with me, it’s so cold outside, let me get in the car.” Shen Jiangling acted spoiled.

Jiang Haotian took another look at the big dog in his arms and ensured the dog didn’t show any aggressive behavior before carefully opening the back door. His brows furrowed, and he repeatedly warned, “Be careful.”

“I know.” Shen Jiangling smiled. He wanted to save the big dog, so it served him right to be bitten.

But he cannot implicate Jiang Haotian.

“Xiao Ling, do you know how dangerous this is? What if you were bitten by it and got rabies?” Jiang Haotian adjusted the heat in the car to 38 degrees and sighed, his eyes full of helplessness.

“But I couldn’t just watch him freeze to death.” Shen Jiangling said as he held the particularly hefty dog.

For some unknown reason, when he saw the big dog, he seemed to see his former self and felt a sense of sympathy towards this fellow sufferer.

If he really ignored this large dog, he would feel guilty for the rest of his life.

Of course, Shen Jiangling was not sweet and silly. He didn’t naively believe that just because he helped the big dog, the big dog wouldn’t bite him.

When he wrapped the big dog in the down jacket earlier, he had covered the dog’s head with the hood and now he held it tightly in his hand, not daring to relax at all.

After all, it was a stray dog that reached his waist when standing. It was impossible to not be somewhat on guard.

“Haah, you.” Jiang Haotian didn’t know what to say and could only speed up, hoping to send the dog to the pet hospital as soon as possible.

Jiang Haotian looked back several times during the drive, afraid the stray dog would bite Shen Jiangling.

Shen Jiangling glanced at the fluffy tail poking out of the down jacket and couldn’t help but touch it.

Wow, this feels amazing!

Although his hand was covered in dust, his eyes lit up.

What Shen Jiangling didn’t know was that the moment he touched the tail, the big dog wrapped in the down jacket had stiffened all over.

Tail, tail can’t be randomly touched!
