"Morning, " Fen Wén greeted her fellow maidservants as she combed her hair. The girl whistled happily while looking at her reflection on the mirror.
Today her hair was tied into two large buns looking like a cute Minnie mouse. She also wore the newest summer dress. It was made out of a thin and cooling fabric also, the colour resembling the summer sky really suits her vibe.
Energetic and beautiful.
"Morning, why do you look so happy today?" Fen Wén’s friend yawned as she looked at the girl standing in front of the huge copper mirror.
Somehow this girl looked happier than usual. Usually, she never applied makeup but now...she even added a lip tint and skin powder!
Fen Wén tilted her head and turned around, "Really? I look so happy?" the girl glanced down and her cheek slowly turned red. The girl covered her face feeling embarrassed that her friend could see how happy she was at the moment.
How could she not be happy when she would go out with Mao Mao?
"Yeah, it’s so obvious. You look like a maiden in love...wait, " the friend squinted her eyes and a smirk appeared on her face, "Don’t tell me you’re going on a date?"
Waking up early, looking happy, even dressing up like this...Fen Wén must be about to go on a date!
Hearing this, Fen Wén eyes widened in shock. She rashly shook her head in denial, "N-no! It’s not a date! I’m just going out to the festival, that’s it!"
She tried hard to convince herself that this wasn’t a date. Mao Mao didn’t say that this is a date so she shouldn’t get it wrong!
Fen Wén’s friend squinted her eyes in disbelief. She was sure that Fen Wén was preparing to go on a date but if the girl herself said so...then she might not be sure whether she’s going on a date or not.
’After all, Fen Wén is very honest’ the girl thought.
"Alright, alright it’s not a date. Go enjoy your break time then, " the girl shrugged as she flashed an ambiguous smile, "Don’t forget to buy me a souvenir from the festival, kay?"
The girl giggled and patted Fen Wén’s shoulder before leaving her to do her morning job.
Being teased like that, Fen Wén glared at her friend’s disappearing back and pouted in anger. She really wasn’t going on a date ah!
"It’s not a date...right?" Fen Wén murmured to herself as she inserted a golden hairpin to her bun. The hairpin was decorated with blue sapphire butterfly matching her sky blue clothes perfectly.
Contrasting her pitch-black hair, the hairpin really stood out.
Once she saw her reflection again on the mirror, Fen Wén talked to herself in satisfaction, "Okay it’s done!" The girl smiled foolishly as she turned around, wanting to see her overall look.

Her light skirt immediately fluttered once she twirled, looking extra cute. One won’t think that she’s a maidservant from the palace as she finally looked like other noble girls outside the palace.
"Hmmm, shall I go now..." Fen Wén blinked cautiously as she stared at the copper mirror. It’s still 7 a.m in the morning but since the festival was already opened from 6 a.m, they could go there right away.
Thinking that they should cherish their precious day off, Fen Wén decided to visit Mao Mao at his office. Surely he would be ready to go too, right?
This thought led Fen Wén to Mao Mao’s office right away.
"Excuse me..." Fen Wén knocked on the door and waited for Mao Mao to answer but then even after waiting for several seconds, she didn’t hear any answer from the inside.
Usually, Mao Mao would immediately allow her to enter so for him to didn’t give a response...
It made Fen Wén furrowed her eyebrows in worry. She had a thought that maybe, Mao Mao was sick or something? Wait, it could be that he hadn’t come to the office!
Fen Wén gulped at this thought and her hand subconsciously moved. She touched the door handle and slides it open trying to see if the door was locked or not.
If Mao Mao wasn’t here, it should be locked.
But to her surprise, the door wasn’t unlocked. She could open it easily!
"It’s not locked??" Fen Wén gasped in surprise. The girl looked at the opened door and somehow had the urge to enter the office. If the door wasn’t locked it means Mao Mao should already be inside.
Well, he would often sleep at the office too so...maybe he was still sleeping?
Thinking like this, Fen Wén hesitantly entered the office. Once her feet landed, the sight of the sunlight coming through the big window across her welcomed her almost immediately.
The whole room was bright with the sun shining upon it. Still, as usual, the room was messy. There were a lot of papers scattered here and there. On the floor, on the table, everywhere was filled with papers.
The girl looked around and saw that the working desk was empty and only towers of paper could be seen. Mao Mao wasn’t there at all. It means he wasn’t working!
Where could he be?
This thought led Fen Wén to inspect the room and in less than a minute, she saw a figure of a young man tucked inside a black, big blanket could be found laying on the temporary bed at the corner of the office.
....Mao Mao is sleeping?? Wait, wait this...what should she do? Wake him up or let him be?
What to do??
