"Where’s Fen Wén?" Mao Mao suddenly asked in a low, cold tone enough to freeze the poor girl. The girl instantly flinched and stopped in her track. Her hands trembled as she stuttered trying to answer.
"T-that...F-Fen Wén said she’s not feeling well, s-so..." The girl shrunk back, wanting to run away from the office. She didn’t expect the always warm and kind Mao Mao to be like this.
That sharp gaze he directed toward her successfully made her skin crawled. The temperature around suddenly became cold and she felt like she’s going to pee her pants.
Momma! Why the hell his excellency looked so mad??
The girl didn’t see Mao Mao’s eyes when he glared at her since she immediately lowered her head yet somehow she could felt a piercing gaze stabbing her head.
"Unwell?" Mao Mao asked again as he tapped the table. His voice sounded so cold that the girl couldn’t help but shiver once she heard it.
Her legs started to tremble and soon she would faint right away. Still, wanting to finish the task at hand first, the girl weakly nodded, "Y-yes, she’s unwell s-so she asked me to r-replace her..."
The girl spoke as she wobbled to the nearest table and put down the tray there. Right after, the girl bowed down and rushed to leave the office even before Mao Mao could say anything else.
BLAM!
The girl closed the door with a loud noise leaving the dumbfounded Mao Mao with his unsolved questions alone.
"What the..." Mao Mao gritted his teeth in frustration seeing the girl ran away. Was he scary? But he didn’t do anything to her!
Mao Mao covered his forehead and sighed a few times not knowing why the girl ran as if she saw a ghost. He didn’t realize that he was being really scary just now.
Mao Mao paid a glance at the food tray placed far away from his working desk and once again sighed. His head was throbbing and he felt dizzy all of sudden.
Why would Fen Wén suddenly feel unwell? That’s clearly a lie as she was super healthy minutes ago. So why...she got another girl delivering the food instead of her?
’Is she mad?’ Mao Mao thought as he stood up. The young man slowly walked toward the tray of food while kept guessing the reason why Fen Wén didn’t show up.
Could it be she really did know what he did to her yesterday? But if that’s the case she would have been running away from the very beginning.
Yet she just did so now. Was it because he said she should wait outside when he ate?
Mao Mao picked up the tray as he threw several questions to his mind. The last one seemed to be the nearest answer he was looking for.
If it’s really because he said that...well then, it would be his fault. He had never let Fen Wén stayed outside as he ate and today he already did it once.
It couldn’t be helped that Fen Wén felt like he disliked her Ir something.

"But I just want to make a certain distance..." Mao Mao murmured weakly as he went back to his seat with food on his hand. The menu today was a bowl of hot chicken soup, rice, salted egg fish and stirred bamboo shoots, his favourite.
He should be happy since today’s menu got all the food he likes including the honey pudding but somehow he couldn’t truly enjoy the food.
"...it is so silent, " Mao Mao whispered as he scanned his surrounding to see a large empty office. The only moving thing inside the room beside him was the flickering candle on the wall.
Usually, he would eat while Fen Wén smiled happily next to him. Today...he chased her out.
"Is this truly the right decision, ah?" Mao Mao grumbled, asking herself while picking up the bamboo shoots with his silver chopsticks.
His favourite salty-sweet bamboo shoots felt so bland tonight. The savoury chicken soup felt tasteless, the rice wasn’t sweet at all and the salted egg fish felt like a raw fish.
"Ughhh...." Mao Mao grunted not having an appetite to eat at all. This won’t do. He thought that it would be okay to distance himself from Fen Wén as she fainted because of him but...
He was so used to having her around that when she wasn’t here, everything felt weird.
"I’m so crazy indeed...this is mad, " Mao Mao talked to himself recalling how he never wanted a maidservant to begin with. Not to mention he was used to working alone before yet now he couldn’t.
Was this because he felt lonely...or because it was Fen Wén who accompanied him all this time?
Mao Mao wanted to find out the answer thus he placed down his chopsticks and suddenly stood up. The young man grabbed his long cloak and rushed out of the office leaving his meal and work behind.
’I have to see her’ Mao Mao thought in his mind as he ran to Fen Wén’s sleeping chamber.
Because of the maidservant usually slept in a dorm-like building, of course, Fen Wén would live among young girls of her age.
Some older and some younger. Thus, once Mao Mao headed there, the girls who saw him started to squeal in excitement.
"That’s Lord Mao!"
"Seriously?? Our prime minister??"
"Wait, why is he here??"
The girls started to go KYAAA KYAAA all the way until Mao Mao stopped in front of them.
With a flushing face, the boy asked, "Where is Fen Wén’s room?"
The girls: ....what?
