Vulen jumped back instinctively at the rugged voice that woke him. Eburhardt stared at Vulen, almost drooling at his newfound toy.

' Yes! Yes! He's special! I can taste it now. His screams of despair would be ecstasy in my ears. I can't wait until I pluck him when he's ripe.'

Eburhardt licked his lips at Vulen, who felt nothing but creeped out by Eburhardt's perverted gaze.

" W-what are you doing in my room?" Vulen asked in a scared tone. Sensing his discomfort, Eburhardt took a deep breath a calmed his raging urges to crush Vulen. Eburhardt let out an awkward cough, " I came to check on my student. I went a bit overboard but I don't regret a damn thing. You knew you couldn't smell my shit, but you didn't hesitate to fight me. I couldn't help but respect it, which is why I'm here. I didn't expect to see your body healing from injuries that would cause most people a month of bed rest plus rehab. You're different than any elf I've ever seen."

Eburhardt's eyes scanned Vulen's body marks. Just like everyone else, he couldn't tell where they came from.

" Most elves are pacifist by nature, regardless if they're high or low elves and by your age, they're at least six feet and a bit bulkier compared to you. I heard from Alton that your body's hormones were thrown off by your mana. What idiot halfway taught you how to cultivate?"

Eburhardt felt the atmosphere turn fierce as Vulen's eyes grew wide in anger.

" Don't call Tanyl an idiot!"

Eburhardt's smile grew wide. He couldn't help but admire the boy's fierceness. Vulen stared into the eyes of the man who almost killed him with no fear with no sign of wavering. Eburhardt could feel his body heating up, but this wasn't what he was here for.

" Calm down. I apologize for calling that idiot an idiot."

Before Vulen could even retort, Eburhardt released his bloodlust at Vulen who held his chest, coughing blood in pain.

" I respect your bravery and brashness, but it's going to be your end." Eburhardt's face gradually came uncomfortably close to Vulen, who was frozen in fear. As soon as their eyes were inches away, Eburhardt smiled sinisterly.

" I could kill you here and get away with it Vulen. Stop bearing your fangs if you can't back it up or you're just a wolf with no bite."

Vulen felt like he could see death in the flesh, surrounding the figure in front of him. Fear, an emotion he rarely felt, flowed throughout his entire body.

Eburhardt backed away with a proud smug. This was his first step toward creating his perfect play toy. He couldn't allow Vulen's rashness to get him killed. At least not until he did it himself.

" I originally came here just to apologize, but I've made it clear how I felt on that subject. Instead, I offer to train you since you aren't injured. The school won't allow you to go to class for three weeks and I'm sure you don't want to be behind your peers."

Vulen was ready to accept the offer with no hesitation, but he couldn't help but think, ' Why is he doing this?" He also remembers that Eburhardt called Edward a coward, but he decided that he was going to ask why later.

" What is this training?" Vulen asked.

" Just follow me."

Vulen hopped out of bed, putting on a white shirt and black training pants and followed Eburhardt to his part of the school. The landscaping slowly went from classrooms to open fields, full of students and teachers running laps, sparring, or practicing martial arts. The pair stopped in front of large double doors with distinct lines drawn over them and a sign reading ' Mana Training" on its side.

"This is where you'll be spending most of your time for at least the next three weeks," Eburhardt said while pointing to the door." This is my workout room, only reserved for those I deem fit to use it."

Vulen felt Eburhardt release his aura and the door opened without him touching it. Eburhardt looked at Vulen's confused face with a smile. "The runes on the door react to me and a few others' aura signatures."

Vulen knew that mana existed, but runes are something he'd never heard of. " If you don't mind me asking. What is a rune?"

Eburhardt began tracing his finger on the lines," Mana in its raw form is used for a multitude of things. Mana itself is called "The breath of the universe."Just like how we use breathing to talk, it's theorized that everything in the universe talks with each other to keep harmony with one another. As if the universe itself was alive or beings were controlling it. We absorb mana in its rawest form and use our bodies to manipulate it, but there are others blessed with the ability to hear, read and see the language of the universe. Instead of using their bodies to manipulate mana like us, they use mana circles and runes. This entire school is powered by runes. Even the lights you turn on to the hot and cold water you use to bathe are runic mana. They are the reason why your food doesn't rot. They're professionally called sorcerers and make no mistake, they are just as strong and in some cases stronger than mana core users."

Inside the training room, there was a multitude of weights and bands, most of which Vulen didn't know existed. Vulen was in awe of things Eburhardt called ' treadmills' and ' bench pressing'.

" I heard from Abbot that you've already mastered Sorbeo, but your mana veins are too weak to absorb your cores mana. Every piece of equipment here has interchangeable mana crystals with rune markings that help regulate your mana flow from your core to your veins. Not only will you strengthen your physical body, but your aetherial body too. I will also provide you with a mana-efficient diet that'll help greatly. The food here is shit for cultivation unless you're a fucking royal."

Vulen noticed the disdain Eburhardt had when he mentioned royalty.

" Your physical training starts today. Put on these bracers, pick up those jump ropes, and don't stop jumping until you puke up your breakfast."

Edward was in a large extravagant room on one knee, surrounded by violet flames held between pillars in golden bowls with runic markings, illuminating the large room. On the sides of him were three seats each, housing his six other siblings and ahead of him was the patriarch of the family. Adam Sullivan.

Adam sat in the largest and most exquisite seat of them all with a pool of violet flames, and the Sullivans family crest on the wall behind him.

" Tell me, who's this boy you called your sword?" Remember, those words aren't meant to be taken lightly and this is also going against the pact we have with the Michaelson's," Adam said. His voice wasn't too deep or light either, but it carried an undeniable power. Edward's eyes stayed glued to the ground, not even attempting to look his father in the eyes.

" Vulen is a low elf from the Lunenmore Woods. He has no family besides one friend who raised him. He's not that strong now, but I believe that I can turn him into a sharp blade that will mask my shortcomings as the failure of the Sullivan family."

Adam's eyes grew wide, emphasizing his crow's feet as he rubbed his long jet-black skinny goatee with a smile of amazement. Adam looked like a man who was a pretty boy in his youth, but now his appearance exuded that of a handsome middle-aged man with a slightly receding hairline and hair wrapped in a small bun. His red eyes seemed to be darker than everyone else's. Despite his age, his build was that of a young warrior, tall, stocky, and full of bruises.

" I heard of this Vulen at our school father," said a feminine voice. Adam's eyes landed on the prized possession of the Sullivan family, Emily Sullivan, known for her waist-length hair, soft features, voluptuous body, and black flames.

" Eburhardt had disrespected Edward as he always had and a red elf who looked like our youngest brother, fought Eburhardt to defend Edward's honor. I heard he almost died too. He's only a one core also."

Adam looked back at Edward. Edward was his favorite child, though he couldn't portray it due to the mothers of his other children. Edward was the bastard child, birthed from one of the maids, while others had strong mothers with powerful ties. He would do anything to help Edward. After all, he was born to the woman he loved most.

" I want to meet him soon Edward. I hope he doesn't disappoint.
