The Entertainment Industry Waits For Our Divorce Chapter 42

Twenty-second day of Separation (1)

Jiang Mu: ???

Jiang Mu thought he heard wrong. He squinted his eyes as he focused on Liang Yan. He asked, “How many millions again?”

Liang Yans face was devoid of any emotions as she replied, “Eight million.”

Jiang Mu: !!! It frightened him so much that his legs went weak. Filled with disbelief, he gazed at Liang Yan, ah… did you take out a bank loan?”

Liang Yan: ".................."

She looked at Jiang Mu and told him about her conversation with Lu Lincheng.

“You scared me to death!” Jiang Mu heaved a sigh of relief, and then he gazed at Liang Yan questioningly. “You don’t want to owe him a favor that much?”

So she preferred to have a debt of eight million at such a young age.

Liang Yan shrugged, feeling dissatisfied about Lu Lincheng meddling in her business. “We’re divorced, of course I don’t want to!”

The first episode of “On Screen” was well-received by the public, and it ranked in the top three upon its airing that night. Xu Jiafan and Liang Yan’s school drama received the highest webcast. Because of this and the unanimous approval of the judges, the two successfully entered the next round of competition.

Lu Lincheng and Liang Yan divorced in between the two rounds of the contest, making the show’s production team worry. Without Liang Yan’s title as Lu Lincheng’s wife, they thought she would lose heat. But then, suddenly, her blood-sucking mother appeared, stirring the public. Then, Liang Yan’s bitter childhood life, albeit with a hint of cuteness due to her weightlifting history, appealed to the masses. She once again occupied the hot search for two consecutive days.

Everyone had seen daughters being abandoned by their parents, and when they grew up, their parents would come to recognize them. Due to public pressure, the girl could only accept that, from then on, there would be two extra people to support even though they didn’t raise her. This kind of news became a daily occurence, making the masses angry. At first, the money wasn’t a problem, but then Liang Yan’s mother appeared and asked for money blatantly.

Liang Yan’s uncompromising and determined attitude earned the applause of the public, and the anger they had been holding in their heart cleared.

Liang Yan's popularity had gone up a lot.

As a result of this, the second round of Liang Yan’s competition garnered a lot of attention with fans and bystanders waiting with bated breath to see Liang Yan’s first public appearance after a lot of incidents.

During this time, Liang Yan was watching the fans and “Langya Gathering Place Fan Group,” await her show in her Super Talk Platform for a while now with an upset stomach. When a person that was low-profile, one day, suddenly blinded the audience with brilliance, there would be too much attention and many people would anticipate the performance beforehand. The psychological pressure wouldn’t be easy; it would be too much, and the performance wouldn’t be that smooth-sailing.

Liang Yan came again to Fruit Station Channel to record for the next episode. The last theme she drew was campus drama, and now, she drew martial arts.

Liang Yan had only experienced filming Xianxia dramas and not martial arts. Even though there was only a one-word difference between Xianxia and Martial arts dramas, they were poles apart. Basically, Xianxia dramas were all about seeing the protagonists flying around beautifully on a harness, and the fights were  three meters apart, only waving their arms gracefully and relying on post-production effects.

But martial arts dramas were different. They didn’t rely on special effects, didn’t use visual effects, and only relied on the live action scenes of the main characters.

When filming a drama, you could use a stunt double, but since this was a competition, you couldn’t.

The program crew was also deliberate and captured Liang Yan’s sad look in the rehearsal room.

Liang Yan’s partner this time was actress Zhou Yuqi. She was of the same age as Liang Yan. Zhou Yuqi started as a child star, but she hadn't been popular in recent years. She was a head shorter than Liang Yan, with fair skin and big eyes. She spoke with a southerner accent, delicate and fragile, making people around her feel protective.

Liang Yan and Zhou Yuqi sat on the wooden floor during rehearsals. They each had a white script in front of them.

Zhou Yuqi wanted to cry as she stared at the martial arts script that they got. This script talked about two heroines falling in love with the same man. According to the story, the heroines had a large fight scene. The martial arts director mentioned that they might do an aerial fight.

Liang Yan was on the verge of tears as well. Zhou Yuqi looked like someone that could fall with just a pinch of her fingers. She wondered why she was always so unlucky. It would have been best if the two of them drew out a script for a palace intrigue drama. Shooting martial arts? How could she beat Zhou Yuqi with her already weak body?

“Sister Liang Yan, what should we do now?” Zhou Yuqi cried. Perhaps because of her upbringing in the industry, she was already used to calling girls sisters despite their age gap with Liang Yan younger than her by two months.

“It’s alright, it’s alright…” Liang Yan controlled herself and tried to calm down. She straightened her back like a man and patted Zhou Yuqi’s shoulder. Zhou Yuqi was already almost losing it, so if Liang Yian didn’t encourage them both, they would probably say goodbye to the competition completely.

Liang Yan didn’t want to go home so quickly during the competition. Aside from the bonus of tv appearances, the program had set rewards. In the middle episodes of the contest, the competitors had a chance of appearing on scene and shooting commercials with a superstar invited by the show, but the star’s identity still remained a secret as of now. The final reward was to be in a drama produced by Fruit Station Channel.

These rewards were very attractive to Liang Yan. For the advertisement, there was an endorsement fee and there was also a handsome paycheck for acting in the drama. She still had a debt of eight million.

Whenever Liang Yan thought of the money, she was motivated. She stood up from the floor, patted her buttocks, and then stretched out her hand to Zhou Yuqi. “Come on, let’s do this.”

Pouting, Zhou Yuqi glanced up at Liang Yan.

Smiling a little, Liang Yan mentioned, “It’s going to be okay. A martial instructor is going to teach us. Let’s practice hard and strive to advance to the next round.”

Hearing Liang Yan’s statement, Zhou Yuqi bit her lip. She reached out to Liang Yan’s hands, and Liang Yan pulled her up.
