Chapter 7: Paths to Choose

Milan took three of them to her office, the office room was not much big, it had a painting on the wall, a chair and desk near the window, and a glass table placed in the middle with two sofas on both sides. Eon, Second and Haze sat on one side of the sofa and Milan on the other side. Haze sat stiffly on the sofa, her body was stiff, and she was quite nervous about meeting her teacher/mentor for the first time.

“This is Haze Academy’s welcome gift” Milan placed a black cloth bag full of school stuff on the table. They had already introduced themselves while coming inside, so she felt less nervous while speaking.

“Here is Haze’s Id card for the academy and a nexus cube” she placed two more items on the table. The id looked like it was made of iridescent plastic and does not show any information on it, the other was a three by three centimetre small crystal prism cube with star-like patterns on it, and it reflected seven color light.

Eon and second looked at the glass cube, it was their first time seeing this device even haze looked confused. Seeing their expression Milan placed her cube on the desk and explained.

“These cubes are used for communication between people on the Floating World, I believe Mr. Dream and Mr. Midnight came from a planet where they use something else for communication that’s why you are not familiar with this device”

Eon and second nodded, they were impressed by how far technology had reached yet again.

“They can be bought outside in the market but, here academy one will give Haze extra features like anywhere door access….” Milan explained. They finally finished their pleasantries and moved on to important stuff.

“let’s talk about which path you are going to choose” Milan strengthens her back and spoke in a serious tone as she looked at Haze making her more nervous.

“There are multiple ways to gain power and magic in this world, after going through multiple billions of years of evolution, living beings in this universe had created lots of ways of gaining power, most famous of them being, for magic becoming a Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Witches then another path is Cultivation and Body Refining then there is another path created by mixing science and technology called Cyber-Gene and finally a new path currently quite being widespread in between people Mystic Studies or Mysticism.”

“I believe, you have already decided the path you are going to walk but let me explain to you last time so you can make a better choice and let it be my first lesson to you.” Milan ignored Eon and second and focus her all attention on Haze.

“You will find a lot of Wizard, Witches, Sorcerer and Warlock in your surroundings as their path to gains magic power is easy as compared to rest, a wizard/witches gain power by weaving the spell. There is a web that exists all around us made from the connection between concepts. The web is invisible and always running in the background, a Wizard/Witch uses this web of concept and weaves the spells and slowly progress in their path”

“You will understand the Concept when you progress in your path”

“Next are Warlocks and Sorcerer, these people normally depend on elements to gain power, they absorb the elemental energy from the environment like light, darkness, fire, and air elemental particles and create Spell in the form of ‘Runes’ or ‘Spell Seals’ or ‘Spell Models’, if some people have a better affinity toward water or fire, they have to first create a water ‘Spell Model’ in their sea of conscious before using it. In the preliminary stages, it is hard for Sorcerers to use a spell of a different element if they do not have an affinity toward it. Warlocks are also same, but they have bloodlines in their bodies making them more powerful than Sorceress, Wizard, or Witches. In the future maybe you will be able to find someone having a rare bloodline like a dragon, or tiger. Species like these are called exotic species with their blood essence Sorcerer body will go under change, changing their DNA structure and granting them some abilities of those exotic animals. But remember sometimes Warlocks and Sorcerers can be a few milli-second slow in casting spells as compared to Wizards.

“Then there are Cultivators, you have to be careful of them especially when you go out alone” Milan emphasized as she looked at Haze.

“Most of these cultivators are dammed lunatics and if you come in contact with one don’t try to talk or make friends with them, if you see them run as far you can from them.” Milan seemed to have some vendetta against cultivators as she cursed them under her breath.

For the whole morning, this was the first-time expression on the Second face changed from happiness and his face fell like someone had dropped an ice-cold bucket of water on his face. Eon looked at him with eyes filled with pity, his lips curved upward as he tried to hold back his face from laughing, but his impression of Milan increased by whole one star.

Eon, A Cosmic Entity who was above time and space had seen most of the things in this world for him beauty, power, and money were like dust on road. To him except few things, nothing really mattered in the universe. In his eyes people dying, conspiracies, rise, and fall of the world were like child play, to which he was already numb. Emotions were like a distant past to him, which he wanted to live and feel again.

But Second, who always likes to make him mad, when someone made fun of him, he felt like he received a huge gift, and because of that he suddenly found Milan quite pleasing to his eyes.

Unaware of Second displeasure and Eon’s emotional fluctuations Milan continued.

“By Cultivation, these cultivators gather great powers in starting as compared to any other path, to become a cultivator a person must choose the art of his choice and practice, accordingly, changing their DNA slowly and reaching the most perfect stage of body. Cultivators are also similar to warlocks as they can also infuse other bloodlines into their bodies and gain more power, and they can also use magic spells. So yes, stay far away from them.” Milan emphasized again looking at Haze.

“This path came to existence when the paradigm shift happened, and the thirteenth epoch started nine million years ago. At that time, the stars in the sky aligned in a specific way forming a complex and complicated symbol, the symbol lasted for thirteen days and could be seen from anywhere in the universe. Later some parts of the symbol were decrypted, and a new pathway was discovered. People say it was ‘His’ gift to people as a starting of the new era” by the end of the line Milan’s voice became a little shaky and hoarse, and she became more excited as she explained.

“The symbol was later decrypted into many mysterious and marvelous Magic Spells, Runes, Hexes, Cultivation Arts, and mysterious chants and Mantra. The beings who are at higher levels say, we did not even scratch the surface of it and still up to date people are trying to decipher it further”

“There are multiple pathways on this path, and at a beginning level they are quite simple and can be practiced by anyone, a prerequisite to this path is that one has to choose a profession before stepping onto it. Once one chooses a pathway they have to broaden their knowledge about that profession and if possible gather more knowledge of pathways that are closer to that profession for example if one chooses farmer pathways it is better to gain knowledge about gardener professionals too and all the other knowledge related to the field of agriculture. When you are finally ready, you form a uniqueness.”

“the other safer way of practicing is to only form a connection with the concept and not the uniqueness, by doing so chances of getting corrupted by concepts will become low” Milan explained slowly.

“What is uniqueness,” Haze asked nervously with her head down, she only knew about connection, the word uniqueness sounded quite new to her.

“Uniqueness is a matter; it forms in our DNA when we chant the mantra derived from the symbol in early sequences. The chant directly affects our subconscious mind and causes a mutation in our body DNA structure based on knowledge imprint.”

“Every person who follows has a path, forms something like uniqueness, like cultivators' forms a thread of law, a wizard forms their spell knots and web, a warlock forms their law body. But they all form these things at all later stages of their paths. Sometimes what these people do, they extract this uniqueness from people who follow the mystic path and use it for themselves because the uniqueness can increase their power and understanding of the path exponentially as the uniqueness directly connects to the Embodiments of Concept. So, Haze, you must be careful in the outside world, it does not happen openly, but people do try it.” Milan warned Haze.

“There are still many paths left, you will encounter them as you grow and study, you do not have to worry about them. So, what is your choice.”

“I’ll go with mystic” Haze replied in a faint voice, but she was resolute about her choice.

“Very well then, what primary concept are you thinking of choosing,” Milan asked.

“Color” Haze replied. Before coming to the Floating Cloud World her parents had already discussed it among themselves. From childhood Haze was a creative child who liked to draw and color stuff, and do silly things, because of Haze’s colorful imagination they allowed Haze to study whatever she likes.

Milan thought for a moment “There should be a lot of materials on Concept of Color in the library. I'll take you to the academy library tomorrow, so you can slowly start building your knowledge imprint”

“We will be officially starting from tomorrow, by using nexus cube you can come straight to this section of the academy”

“We can end it here for today” Milan’s voice sounded tired. It was an exhausting day for her. When Eon and the rest left the office, she slowly collapsed on the table. Her right hand went into her small purse and grabbed a small bottle of liquid which she straight gulped down in her mouth. There was still half a day left before night. Gaining a little bit of strength, she made her way to the lab and went to work again.

Thanking Milan, Eon, Second and Haze departed from the academy, Niel was already standing outside on the road with the carriage ready.

“Let’s celebrate tonight, for pumpkin starting new school” Eon suggested looking at Haze who was a little anxious and nervous about starting her new life. Soon they reached home. The rest of the day went fast. Haze got busy with sorting out her academy stuff, and Eon sat outside in the garden quietly drinking some red beverage and admiring the small patch of flowers he planted recently in the garden. At night, Second made a few exotic dishes and made Haze’s favorite ice creme, which elevated her mood quite a bit.
