Head Sage Yue reeled in shock. Not only was his son capable of the most advanced magic a water magic user could possess, but even this slip of a girl, a child barely out of her diapers – she could do it, too?! How monstrously powerful were these two children going to be when they grew up?!

"You have water magic, too?" Head Sage Yue asked Mana.

She rolled her eyes. "Yes, I have three. We already spoke of this last time, didn't we?" she retorted.

Head Sage Yue nodded absently. "And you can also perform this memory modification magic?" he asked.

"I'm very tempted to use it right now," Mana said in a light and playful voice but with an undercurrent of annoyance in it.

Head Sage Yue was completely oblivious to her irritation. Instead, he beamed at her. "Good," he said. "That's very good. You and Raven…you make a very good pair."

"Naturally," Mana said smugly.

Raven chuckled and reached out to hold Mana's hand.

Head Sage Yue cleared his throat. "So…what I was saying is that memory modification magic has been a lost magic of the Pearl Kingdom for generations, and…" he began.

Both Mana and Raven raised their eyebrows in surprise.

"We didn't expect this, honestly," Mana said frankly. "It's such an easy thing, it took us only a few minutes to make it work."

Head Sage Yue's eyes glittered. "Is it really that easy?" he asked eagerly.

Raven immediately realised where this line of thought of his birth father was going – so he quickly replied, "Yes, it is very easy, actually. We just need to combine a couple of elements in a certain proportion, and then…" he trailed off vaguely as soon as he saw the disappointment flood on Head Sage Yue's face, and then asked innocently, "What's wrong, Father?"

Mana resisted the urge to dissolve into peals of laughter and squeezed Raven's hand affectionately, giving him a giant thumbs up in her head. This devious, impish side of Raven, that he let out once in a while – she absolutely adored it. Those rainbow eyes sparkling with mirth and mischief were the prettiest at times like these!

Head Sage Yue, naturally, was too embarrassed to say anything to the two children – his hopes of learning this handy memory modification magic were dashed to the ground as soon as he learnt that only dual elemental magic was needed – didn't that mean that the information recorded in their Moon Temple's texts were wrong? And if it was a mix of two elements – it had to be two which Mana possessed – so it could only be either water and fire, or water and earth – because those were the elements which Princess Mana had. It couldn't be wind or dark magic – and while Head Sage Yue didn't really have anything against wind magic – the fact that dark magic wasn't involved in this matter made Head Sage Yue very happy.

"I'd recommend that you keep your knowledge of memory modification magic a secret as well," Head Sage Yue advised seriously. "It is very rara and considered lost magic in the Pearl Kingdom, and the other kingdoms don't even know of it. So there may be a wave of panic and a number of people may target you if they find out that you know this. I promise that I will keep both these matters a secret, and I hope that you will ask King Jaren and Crown Prince Jules and Crown Princess Bella not to spread this matter further, either."

For once, there was sincere concern in his voice and his eyes. This was the first time Mana and Raven had seen Head Sage Yue given them sincere advice for their benefit. Both the children were somewhat touched, and Mana hoped that Head Sage Yue would continue on this path and show genuine concern and care for his only son more and more in the future.

"Yes, we'll do that," Mana said. "Thank you for telling us this."

Raven nodded, too. "Thank you, Father," he said softly.

Head Sage Yue was stunned for a moment and then beamed at Raven.

"Big Brother….!" An anguished cry and a pattering of rushed footsteps effectively prevented Head Sage Yue from continuing the conversation.

Mana quickly removed the sound barrier she had cast over the room when Raven had brought out the holy sceptre and opened the door.

Rook rushed in and threw himself at Raven, bawling loudly.

Azar was dislodged from his Daddy's lap and immediately flew to Mana, who hugged the little dragon to soothe his ruffled scales.

"Your Uncle Rook didn't mean to push you away," she cajoled the baby dragon in a soft tone. "He's just very sad and wanted to be comforted by Daddy."

"All right, Mommy," Azar said like a sweet, obedient child and nuzzled his head against Mana's cheek.

Rook, who had calmed down a little, heard their conversation and looked at Azar tearfully. "I'm really sorry, nephew Azar. I was carried away…" he burst into tears again.

Raven patted his younger brother on the back with gentle but awkward movements and threw Mana a helpless look.

Mana nodded at him and turned to Head Sage Yue. Before she could say a word, Head Sage Yue, who had been watching Raven and Rook with a complicated expression, murmured, "This is General Aquila's son?"

Rook whirled around and stared at Head Sage Yue. "Are you Big Brother Raven's father? The evil biological one who tried to kill Mother and Big Brother Raven?" he demanded angrily, His small face was red from crying anyway, and his dark, expressive, liquid eyes were filled with wrath on behalf of his mother and his big brother.

Head Sage Yue sighed. "I'll take your leave," he said quietly.

He turned around and left without another word.

"Why was he here? Did he do anything bad to you? Are you all right?" Rook immediately turned to Mana and Raven and Azar and looked at them carefully.

Raven chuckled fondly and patted Rook's hair affectionately. "We're all right. He just wanted to talk," he said. "But what's gotten you so upset, little brother?"

Rook's eyes filled up again.
