The banquets of the royal family of the Emerald Kingdom were a resounding success. Innumerable business deals and collaborations and even personal connections among people of different kingdoms were established.

Soon enough, the day of departure for most guests arrived, with the next destination being the Sapphire Kingdom.

"Papa, should we stay back to help you?" Jules asked worriedly, looking at his overworked father's tired face.

"Yes, Papa, Jules can stay behind and help you – I'll go ahead with Mother to the Sapphire Kingdom, that will be enough to take care of the things there," Bella said. "In any case, the real work will begin only after you all arrive, so it's perfectly fine for Jules to stay back here for some time."

King Jaren shook his head tiredly. "Thank you, my dear children, but I don't want you two to be separated at all at this stage. Both of you go ahead to the Sapphire Kingdom now – Queen Carolina needs you there more than me."

"Big Brother, we'll help Papa," Raven said. "Mana and I are staying here, so we'll help him."

Mana nodded. "We won't let him work too hard," she promised. "And Azar will make sure that his Grandpapa eats on time."

Azar, who had become extremely clingy with his Grandpapa these days nodded seriously. "Azar will take care of Grandpapa!" he announced in a solemn voice.

King Jaren chuckled and rubbed the little dragon's head affectionately.

Mana and Raven looked rather tired, too – but all of them could look forward to getting some rest once all the dignitaries were gone. Then they could rest for a day and use the special royal transportation array, which they had set up earlier, to go to the Sapphire Kingdom.

Grandpa and Grandma were going along with Jules and Bella. King Orion, Mars and Astra would be following the next day.

King Orion had actually been trying very hard to get into the good books of Grandpa these days, trying to use the blood connection of Grandpa with the royal family of the Amber Kingdom. Grandpa, of course, couldn't care less, but for the sake of Astra, he could only deal with the annoying monarch politely instead of pulling out his sword and placing it at the man's neck to make him back off.

Thus, as soon as the chance arose, Grandpa wanted to run off to the Sapphire Kingdom with Jules and Bella immediately, so that he could have a few days of peace before getting pestered by King Orion yet again. Since Jules, Bella, Grandpa, Grandma and Queen Carolina would be using the special royal transportation array, they would reach the Sapphire Kingdom instantaneously, while King Orion and the others – they would have to travel for several days. Even if they tried making an array, they would not be able to, because border control was pretty strict at the Sapphire Kingdom, and only those with the proper paperwork would be allowed in.

It was very similar to a modern day immigration check at the international airports of Mana's original world, she thought to herself. Everyone who wanted to enter the Sapphire Kingdom would be stopped at the borders, which were protected by very strong magical arrays that were almost impossible to breach – and then there were border offices (like passport immigration desks) set up at regular intervals throughout the borders. Every person wanting to enter would have to show their paperwork, and if the papers were found adequate, the border control officer would issue a unique magical seal to the visitor, which would be valid for a period of 7 days. If the visitor lost this seal, or if the duration of the seal expired, the person would be automatically transported outside the nearest border office. Then, they would have to go and speak with the border control officer yet again to claim their lost seal or have a fresh seal reissued. Of course, within the towns and cities and villages of the Sapphire Kingdom, there were immigration offices, and if your seal was about to expire and you were still within the Sapphire Kingdom and wanted to extend the duration of your stay, you could easily do so by visiting these immigration offices and asking for an extension. Usually, extensions were granted if the person was in the middle of something or doing something productive – and if they had found themselves a job in the Sapphire Kingdom which they wanted to take up, they could apply for a work permit after obtaining a recommendation letter from a citizen of the Sapphire Kingdom as well as the appointment letter from their new employer.

This magical seal was very powerful and impossible to replicate, and the barrier around the entire kingdom was a highly intelligent barrier. It not only recognised the citizens who were originally from the Sapphire Kingdom – the ones who were born and bred there for years and years – but also the subsequently naturalised citizens, that is, people from other kingdoms who had chosen to become citizens of the Sapphire Kingdom later. The standards here were much stricter than that in the Emerald Kingdom, where it was fairly easy to get a life and a livelihood and a citizenship if you performed well. In the Sapphire Kingdom, you needed to have worked for at least five years unless you had performed excellent meritorious service recognised by the reigning monarch and been granted an honorary citizen's seal. There was a separate category of royal seals, which only the monarch could issue at their discretion – there were no recommendations or nominations accepted for this.

The only recipients of the royal seal in this generation were King Jaren, Crown Prince Jules, Princess Mana and Royal Dragon Prince Azar of the Emerald Kingdom and Prince Raven of the Obsidian Kingdom. It was quite envied by the royal families of the other kingdoms – but no one could raise any objections or demand any raises, because all of these members were phenomenally helpful and very dear to their beloved Crown Princess Bella.

After all, Crown Princess Bella was the only child of the reigning monarch, Queen Carolina, and after the death of her husband, Queen Carolina had chosen not to marry again. She was again one of the rare royals who had only one significant other and remained devoted to them even after their passing.

What was not known to the public was that Queen Carolina's late husband had actually been a deeply infiltrated spy of the Amber Kingdom, and had almost managed to assassinate Queen Carolina – but, in the end, had ended up being killed himself. In order to not raise any alarms amongst the public, Queen Carolina had hidden away this fact very, very carefully and made it appear that the King Consort had died of a prolonged illness – so much so that even Bella didn't know about it.

In fact, other than Queen Carolina and the current Prime Minister, who was a childhood friend and first cousin of Queen Carolina, only Jules was aware of this secret. When Jules and Bella had decided to get engaged, and Queen Carolina had found this young boy to be worthy of her only daughter who she loved dearly, she had pulled Jules aside and told him the truth about Bella's late father – partly to make sure that he would be aware of the truth in case something went wrong and he needed to make arrangements to protect Bella, and party to make sure that the boy chosen by Bella to be her lifelong partner was someone reliable who wouldn't judge Bella simply because her father turned out to be a traitor.

Jules had been stunned to learn this. Then, he had said, "We shouldn't let Bella find out about this. She would be very upset. She only remembers the good memories of her father, and we should let that continue, I think," he murmured worriedly.

Queen Carolina had smiled broadly, feeling very satisfied in her heart with her daughter's choice of a companion. "But, Crown Prince Jules, don't you mind that Bella is the daughter of a traitor?" she asked archly.

Jules had blinked at her in confusion. "That was the previous generation's matter," he said innocently. "What's that got to do with my Bella?"

It was then that Queen Carolina had been completely won over, and all the love and affection and protective feelings she had for Bella were extended to Jules as of that moment. Crown Prince Jules of the Emerald Kingdom had become as dear to Queen Carolina of the Sapphire Kingdom as Crown Princess Isabel of the Sapphire Kingdom – it was pretty much the same as how Papa treated Bella so whole heartedly.

"You have to cherish my daughter for the rest of your life," Queen Carolina had warned.

"Mother," Jules had said quietly. "Bella *is* my life."

Queen Carolina had laughed happily and ruffled the young man's hair with great affection.

"In that case, my dear boy, welcome to the family!" she had said.

And once accepted by the monarch herself, Jules became really popular in the Sapphire Kingdom.
