"So – what is it that you want to do, Raven?" Jules asked, his curiosity reaching its peak. He had to admit that he was a little excited as well as little anxious. If there would be any danger to Raven in the process – he, as the Big Brother, would firmly stand on Mana's side and forbid Raven from making any dangerous moves.

"I was thinking of brewing an imperial fealty potion," Raven said softly.

"What does it do?" Jules asked curiously.

"I was inspired by the fealty token of Father Aqi, actually," Raven murmured. "I think I understand the concept and I will be able to reduce it to a potion – it may not be as efficacious as the fealty token, naturally, but at least it would counter murderous intent. I was thinking of administering it to King Orion, Mars and Astra."

"Even if you administer it to these three, there are millions of people in the Amber Kingdom – who all are you going to drug? Do you think King Orion would come at us with a sword himself? No, right? He'd hire and send an assassin instead. And there's nothing stopping these three people from hiring other people or inciting other people to do their dirty job for them. That has always been their modus operandi – haven't you seen it for yourself several times? How will you know who the assassin is in advance? And who you should drug?" Mana challenged immediately. "You'll only tire yourself out for a very tiny outcome – I don't think that makes sense at all!"

Jules raised an eyebrow. "Tire himself out?" he repeated.

Raven flushed. "It would take a few days to concoct – but I could go to Azar's island and do it there. I could go in the evening when everyone has fallen asleep and come back early morning – no one would know that I've gone if I use the propulsion machine."

"No," Jules said immediately. "You can brew this potion later when we are home and there are no events to attend. I'm completely on Mana's side on this one. We are not going to let you tire yourself out like this – especially when the outcome isn't all that great. Mana is right when she says that none of these three people – especially King Orion and Astra – would want to get their own hands dirty. They would use someone else, and we can't go drugging everyone now."

"But King Orion and Mars and Astra would have gone to the Amber Kingdom by then," Raven said mildly. "And their hair that I have managed to collect for brewing the potions would lose their efficacy after a month."

Mana huffed in annoyance.

Raven sighed. "There's no danger in brewing the potion," he murmured.

"Then why aren't you doing it in your secret space?" Mana challenged.

Raven had no counter to that. The truth was, in fact, that he wasn't completely sure if there would be any danger or not. After all, this potion didn't exist as on date. And this was exactly why he didn't want to use their secret space. Azar's island would be safer – actually, it wouldn't even be Azar's island; Raven wasn't going to jeopardise their baby dragon's domain.

What he had planned was to go to Azar's island first, and then use a transportation array to go to Sable Island. Raven remembered from the map of Sable Island that there were several uninhabited islands around there. He wanted to use one of those for his experiments. Because if something went wrong, Raven could at least isolate it in one of these islands and seal it. And if it blew up, he would immediately escape. He didn't want to harm anyone else, or take the risk of destroying anything that was cherished by anyone in his family or held sentimental value for him.

He's said Azar's island to Mana because he had assumed that she would understand that he would never risk their little dragon child's property, and that would reassure her that there was no danger in brewing the potion at all. He hadn't expected that Mana would reject the idea completely.

As for their secret space – that was too precious to be risked at all, Raven thought.

And thus, he had no counter for Mana's challenge.

"I bet you don't even intend to use Azar's island – you must be thinking of going to another place from there," Mana accused.

Startled, Raven could only stare at her in shock. How on earth could she possibly guess that?!

Raven's reaction more or less confirmed Mana's conjecture. And this didn't go unnoticed by Jules.

Jules frowned at Raven. "No, Raven," he said firmly. "You can experiment all you want when you're back home. Your health and safety are more important to us. As for these guys, if they do try something, we still have our protective charms and the brooches that we handed out will work well enough. Fox is constantly monitoring all the information being gathered. We'll be careful and we'll make sure to guard Papa well, that's all."

Raven frowned slightly, feeling warm and frustrated at the same time. "But Big Brother…" he began.

"You are forbidden from putting yourself at risk," Jules interrupted him sternly. "Especially since we're going to head to Amber Kingdom after this, and we'll all need to be focussed one hundred percent. We can't afford the slightest gap in our defences when we go to the Amber Kingdom, and for that we need to be well rested and well prepared. And you, being the smartest and most talented of us all, we'll rely on you much more in the Amber Kingdom and for that, we need you to be in your best condition at the time. And that's why, as Mana said, there's no point in letting you tire yourself out at this stage for something that is too difficult to execute at a mass scale and will only have limited efficacy – we simply can't afford it!"

Raven had nothing to counter that logic with. So he bit his lip and remained silent. Even he knew that Jules and Mana were right about his – but Raven was desperate to protect Papa, the first man he had consciously known to be a proper parent to him and who had showered him with his fatherly affection and taken him under his wing and helped him develop to this extent. When Raven thought back to how he had been at this time last year and how he was now, the contrast simply blew his mind. He had grown so much in this past year – and it was all thanks to Mana and Jules and Papa – without this new family of his, without their love and care and careful nurturing, wouldn't Raven have remained the same unfavoured and abandoned prince hiding away in the library and being bullied by everyone with no strength or mental fortitude to fight back? They had opened their home and their hearts to a strange and awkward prince turned beggar from another country even before they had learnt of his identity – and even after they found out, they still continued to support him without batting an eye, and then they had gone on to help him establish himself. All the fame and glory and achievements won by Raven in the past few months, all the affection and appreciation that were directed at him right now, all the respect he was being given, and even the recognition he had earned from his biological parents who had always looked down upon his existence (in fact, Head Sage Yue would probably have thrown a celebratory banquet if he had learnt of Raven's demise last year) – none of these would have happened without the royal family of the Emerald Kingdom. In fact, before being thrown out by King Corvus, Raven's best case scenario for his own future had been to hide himself away, abolish the identity of Prince Raven of the Obsidian Kingdom and live out the rest of his life – however long or short it might have been – under the identity of Poison Expert Naver. If he was lucky enough, perhaps he would find someone who would love and cherish him and become his companion. If not, perhaps he would keep a pet or two for companionship and spend the rest of his life like that. And, perhaps, one day, he would end up blowing himself up to death with one of his experiments…

But now, he had so much more to look forward to. He had a beautiful and capable fiancée and a new family who cherished him deeply, who put his health and happiness high up on their priority list. He had even been recognised as the sole heir to the throne of the Obsidian Kingdom, and he had gained power to surpass the highest authority of the Moon Temple of the Pearl Kingdom, too. King Jaren, Jules and Mana often called Raven and Azar their good luck charms – but in Raven's heart, Mana and Jules were his real good luck charms. Without them, would he have this family, Papa's affection, and Azar's adoration? Wasn't it because of them that he had a home?

And even now, wasn't it because they cared so deeply for him that they were refusing his plans?

"All right, Big Brother," Raven said finally. "I'll wait till we're home to try this experiment."

"Good," Jules said with a grin, ruffling Raven's hair affectionately.

Mana rewarded Jules with a satisfied smile.
