Raven burst out laughing. "Yes, I will try to be a good boy like Azar," he said.
The little dragon beamed at him. "Good boy, Daddy!" he chirped.
The atmosphere was lightened immediately, thanks to the little dragon's comments. Everyone had a fond smile on their faces – even Head Sage Yue.
"So…what is to be done with the cursed living ghost corpse?" Crown Princess Pica asked after some time. "If Raven needs to strengthen the net until we have a better solution, I'm happy to lend him my power as much as he wants for as long as he wants," she declared.
"Me, too," General Aquila said immediately.
"Of course," King Corvus said. "I will help as well. We may be able to figure out a more permanent solution once I discuss the details of what we did last time – perhaps these ingenious children will be able to come up with a solution that does not include necromancers," he murmured. "But until we are able to find the long term solution, I, too, shall boost Raven's magical and spiritual energy with my own."
Raven was really surprised. He had expected that his dear Father Aqi would volunteer to help him – but he hadn't expected that his Mother, Crown Princess Pica, and his Grandfather, King Corvus – that these two people who had barely tolerated his existence a few months ago – that these two people would actually volunteer to help him by expending their own magical and spiritual energy! If someone had told him this – or had indicated that something like this could possibly happen in the future – Raven's past self would have considered it absolutely impossible and pretended to be deaf.
General Aquila poked Raven's forehead. "What are you looking so surprised for, son?" he asked with a smile. "Did you think that your family won't help you? Didn't little Azar just tell you not to be silly and to be a good boy like him?" he teased.
Raven smiled up at his Father Aqi in response.
"I'll help as well," Head Sage Yue spoke up. "As far as water elemental magic is concerned, I can assure you that very few people in the whole world can measure up to my levels. Also, as Raven's father, this is the least I can do to support my son in a noble cause."
If Raven was surprised by his Mother and his maternal Grandfather before, his formerly estranged Father's declaration made him absolutely stunned. In fact, he was so utterly stunned that he couldn't utter a single word!
Head Sage Yue frowned at his only son. "Why is it so impossible for you to believe that your Father wants to support you and help you when he can?" he demanded. "You are a child of my blood and of my legacy. Of course I would help you!"
Raven could only nod mechanically.
Crown Princess Pica snorted. "Yes, of course, Raven will easily believe that the man – the so called father who has always wanted to kill him since the day my poor child was born – when he suddenly says that he wants to help my son? Aqi has been ten times the father to Raven than you, and so has King Jaren of the Emerald Kingdom, even without the bond of blood. And now that you see that everyone else is treating Raven like a treasure, you've suddenly realised that he is a precious child, and you suddenly want to rely on your blood connection with him?" she mocked.
"Shut up," Head Sage Yue snapped. "You know nothing. Raven is the true heir to the Ancient Holy Sage! I will put him on the throne of the Pearl Kingdom in the future!"
"Nonsense!" Crown Princess Pica cried angrily. "Raven is my son and my hair, and he will sit on the throne of the Obsidian Kingdom after me!"
"I have to side with my dear daughter on this matter," King Corvus said with a smirk. "Our Raven will inherit the throne of the Obsidian Kingdom from Pica in the future."
General Aquila nodded. "Yes, absolutely. The throne of the Obsidian Kingdom will pass on to Raven," he said.
Head Sage Yue stared at the three of them. "Why?" he demanded. "You have your own son, General Aquila. Just put him on the throne of the Obsidian Kingdom. Leave my son alone."
"Raven is as much my son as Rook," General Aquila retorted angrily. "I dare you to say otherwise."
Head Sage Yue and General Aquila glared at each other fiercely. Their animosity and anger was so apparent that Mana could feel the temperature in the room rise up.
Azar sneezed just in time, breaking the tense atmosphere.
"I think the most important thing here is what Raven wants to do in the future. He has plenty of time to decide, after all – he is only twelve now," King Jaren said mildly. "Besides, Jules also wants me to make it clear that Raven and Mana also have a claim to the throne of the Emerald Kingdom – either as full fledged monarchs or as regents, whichever they prefer, in case Jules and Bella have trouble managing both the Emerald Kingdom and the Sapphire Kingdom in the future."
Everyone except Mana and Azar stared at King Jaren in shock.
King Jaren chuckled. "Why is everyone so surprised? Raven is a very capable child, and he's already integrated into the royal family of the Emerald Kingdom completely. Whether it is Jules and Bella on the throne, or Mana and Raven on the throne – I am happy in either case, because I know they will all work together in harmony, and bring peace and prosperity to our citizens," he said.
Raven flushed.
Mana rolled her eyes. "If we're done fighting about whose throne Raven is going to inherit in the future – we should go back to deciding on what to do with the cursed living ghost corpse," she said.
Raven nodded. "It will be fine for two days, at the very least. The day after tomorrow – we can go and strengthen the rainbow net, if that suits everyone?" he asked.
Queen Carolina frowned. "Won't you need a supplement for wind elemental magic as well?" she asked Raven. "Can I help with that? If required, we can have Bella help out as well – I know she, too, will want to be kept in the loop," she said. "Mana doesn't have the wind element in her magic, right? How will you support and supplement that one?"
Raven thought for a moment. "I can modify the net a little to admit a magical family link instead of a pure blood connection," he murmured. "That way, both Big Sister Bella as well as Queen Carolina will be able to join in."
"Excellent," Queen Carolina said. "That would be very useful. Magically, the royal family of the Sapphire Kingdom has already admitted both of you – Prince Raven of the Obsidian Kingdom and Princess Mana of the Emerald Kingdom – as our family members. You have already seen how the wards admitted you even without a token, right? That's because you have been recognised as our family by Bella and myself."
"Thank you," King Jaren said gratefully.
"Well, my little Bella's in laws have to be my family, right?" Queen Carolina said with a smile. "That's simple logic – what is there to thank me for?"
"What about Azar?" the little dragon piped up.
"Of course you are part of the royal family of the Sapphire Kingdom, Royal Dragon Prince Azar," Queen Carolina said with an indulgent smile. How could she not acknowledge such an adorable little dragon as a member of her royal family? Especially when the little dragon was the most pampered child of the royal family of the Emerald Kingdom, and her own daughter Bella, too, adored the little dragon Azar!
"Thank you, Grandmother Carolina!" Azar said happily.
Queen Carolina couldn't help herself. She reached out and tickled the little dragon's chin with her fair and slim fingers. She had been itching to do this for a very long time, but had been restraining herself because she had to maintain some propriety, but now that the little dragon had called her Grandmother in such a sweet and cute and adorable voice, and was looking at her with those beautiful round and sparkling and gem stone like eyes (which were just like Mana's – in fact, the resemblance was so uncanny that Queen Carolina had been quite shocked the first time she had seen little Azar back in the Emerald Kingdom) – how could she possibly resist anymore. She tickled the little dragon's chin and rubbed his little head like King Jaren did all the time.
"What do you want to do about the fire magic?" Mana asked Raven. "I will help, of course, and so will Big Brother – will that be enough? We can ask Grandpa, too. He will help us, for sure, and Grandma, too, can help with her water magic."
Raven frowned. "It would help if they were involved, but…" he trailed off and looked up at Queen Carolina.
