In the end, Grandpa and King Corvus set up the defensive mechanism in Raven's room, and another set of defensive arrays in Mana's room, where the two children decided to stay.

King Jaren stayed behind with Mana, Raven, Jules and Bella while everyone else left.

"I think there may be something wrong with Azar and Alya," King Jaren said without preamble. "All they do these days is sleep."

The four youngsters were immediately worried. The two little dragons had appeared for all the banquets and dressed up in their matching outfits along with them, and they had all decided that Azar and Alya should stay in King Jaren's space as much as possible while they were in the Amber Kingdom – so they hadn't thought it problematic that the two little dragons had stayed there today, either. After all, they had just come to the Pearl Kingdom today itself.

"Both of them have been a bit lethargic since we arrived in the Amber Kingdom – I thought initially that it was simply because they were overeating in the secret space. Also, we had asked them to stay in the secret space as much as possible during our time in the Amber Kingdom, so it was fine for them to turn up only three or four times a day," King Jaren murmured. "Today, however, both of them seem to be in a deep sleep and I'm unable to wake them up. It's almost time for lunch and they are still sleeping! They didn't wake up for breakfast when we were leaving the Amber Kingdom and they haven't woken up yet."

Raven scanned through the ancient texts in his head that mentioned dragons.

"Papa, did they grow any bigger?" he asked.

King Jaren thought for a moment and then peeped at his two precious grand babies who were sleeping peacefully under a tree in his secret garden space.

"They are a little bigger," he replied. "But Azar has been able to adjust his own size for a long time now, hasn't he?"

Raven nodded. "Dragons have growth spurts during which they are very lethargic," he murmured. "They also tend to consume a lot of magic during this time. It is somewhat like our magic surges."

"Should I feed them some magic crystals?" King Jaren asked. "I have stacked a lot of arrays and crystals in my space for the little ones to eat if they get hungry."

Raven smiled a little. "You may want to check if there are any left, Papa," he murmured.

King Jaren immediately dived back into his space to check the stack that he had prepared – and found only two crystals remaining! The two little dragons had eaten everything! No wonder they looked chubbier and bigger than before!!

King Jaren returned to his human children with a dark face. His expression made the four youngsters laugh.

"We have plenty of arrays and crystals stacked up in our spaces as well," Bella said quickly, her voice soft and cajoling. "Since the babies are sleeping in Papa's space, I think we should put them there, instead, don't you think so, Jules? If they are in one of their growth spurts, they may want to eat more…"

"Yes, that's a good idea," Jules said. "We should do that. We can't let our little ones be hungry. I know how horribly hungry I got when I had my magic surge, and I wouldn't want our little Azar and Alya to feel like that!"

Raven nodded as well. "And I wouldn't want to buy arrays and crystals in the Pearl Kingdom given the situation here right now, since we won't be able to test the quality properly immediately. It is best that we transfer our stocks to Papa's space. Once we get to the Obsidian Kingdom, we will be able to buy more. In any case, if the arrays set up by Grandpa and Grandfather are not triggered at night today, then Azar and Alya can eat them tomorrow morning, just like they were doing back in the Amber Kingdom," he suggested.

"That makes sense," Mana said. "Even if they are hungry, we can't let our Azar and Alya eat garbage."

Thus, King Jaren's space was filled up with almost a mountain of arrays and magic crystals and other nourishing things that the two little dragons liked to eat. There was also another mountain of packaged food which they could snack on.

Bella and Raven had initially been a little hesitant to stock so much in their respective spaces, but Jules and Mana had talked them into it – and now both Bella and Raven knew that this kind of over indulgent pampering tendencies ran in the very blood of Jules and Mana, inherited from their Papa! But then, it was a good thing, otherwise they would have to sit and make a large number of magic arrays themselves right now, for none of them would ever let their treasured baby dragons eat unverified food, no matter what! Especially now, when the two little ones were sleeping peacefully. What if they bought some random arrays or magic crystals and stacked them in King Jaren's space, and the two little ones grabbed something to munch on while they were sleeping?

This had certainly happened before – humans talked and sometimes even walked in their sleep, but it looked like dragons ate in their sleep – something all of them knew from experience. This was one of the biggest reasons that all of them maintained a stock of food and magical edibles (well, edible for their little dragons, that is) in their bedrooms, and put those near the bed so that Azar and Alya could reach out in their sleep and munch on something.

King Jaren's bedroom naturally had the biggest pile, since he was the absolute favourite of the two little dragons.

"Should we try to wake them up?" Jules asked Raven. "Or should we let them sleep until they wake up naturally?"

"It would be best to let them sleep until they wake up naturally, I think," Raven said. "If they don't eat while they are sleeping, then we will try to wake them up."

King Jaren nodded, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "We will do as Raven says, then," he murmured. "If little Azar and little Alya wake up, I will let you know."

"What could have suddenly triggered their growth spurt?" Bella asked with a slight frown on her face. "Could it be because they ate the ancient array of the wheel of dust and shadow along with the heavenly thunder from King Corvus and the flames of hell from Grandpa?" she wondered out loud.

"It is possible," Raven said, as the resident dragon expert. "In fact, it is probable."

Everyone nodded.

Mana looked at King Jaren. "Papa, please let us know when the stack of magical edibles is diminishing. We will restock it immediately. The magic castle which Azar and Alya got from their Elf Buddy is full of things as well, and we have our propulsion machine anyway, so Raven and I can always go home for a bit and pick up stuff as and when required," she said.

King Jaren nodded. "I'll keep an eye on our little ones," he said. "You children should take some rest now – we will gather later."

There were no events scheduled for that day, so everyone was happy to relax and rest and get themselves adjusted to the climate of the Pearl Kingdom, which was drastically different from the dry, desert heat of the Amber Kingdom. In contrast, the Pearl Kingdom was a land of many water bodies, and the not only was the land full of swamps, but the air was also very humid. More often than not, it felt as if the air itself would be dripping water, and the climate was fairly hot as well – not as drastically hot as the Amber Kingdom, where one would feel that they were about to be burnt to death under the hot desert sun, but a kind of hot and humid muggy weather.

The people from the Emerald Kingdom could still put up with such weather because their own climate was like the pleasant spring all year round, neither too hot, nor too cold, neither too dry, nor too humid – they enjoyed a very mild weather. For the people from the Sapphire Kingdom, however, both the Amber Kingdom and the Pearl Kingdom was akin to hell. The climate of the Sapphire Kingdom was cold and snowy, and heat, whether dry or humid, made them feel very uncomfortable.

"How are you doing?" Jules asked Bella, looking at her sweaty face and uncomfortable expression. "Should we set up air conditioning for you?"

"We may as well," Mana said.

"How is the weather in the Obsidian Kingdom, Raven?" Jules asked curiously. "You don't seem uncomfortable anywhere, and you were able to adjust to the climates in the Emerald Kingdom, Sapphire Kingdom, Amber Kingdom and now the Pearl Kingdom as well."

Raven smiled slightly.
