Now, to build a wall in the surroundings, it’s not enough to just have Mancrete. It’s a wall, after all. You need a certain amount of it. The radar showed that there seemed to be a lot of monster responses that had the needed materials. Lime can also be obtained by diving into the sea and hunting monsters. But even if we had the materials, this underground workshop is too cramped to make that amount.
”Hmm. Seems we’ll have to make one, huh. A magic reverberatory furnace.” ”Koo~?”
Kani showed an expression that said “What, what~?” while peeking in from my shoulder. The others also looked at me.
”It’s necessary to make large amounts of cement. We’ll make a magic reverberatory furnace for that. Well, it’s just a simple reverberatory furnace made of Mancrete.” [TL: It’s a particular type of furnace used in the extraction of metals like tin and copper, as well as the making of cement.]
The official type would require a magic station and a magic conduit, but for now, a simple type of magic reverberatory furnace made of Mancrete will do.
”Next we need the mold. It’s essential for the wall, so we’ll need materials for that.”
For this, I’m thinking of wood for the time being. We’ll have to search the mountains for usable wood. [TL: But you live right next to a forest…] However, it took a long time just to make the Mancrete. It’s already dark outside, so we’ll go to bed for today. And at night, as expected, monsters still approached the prefab. But this time, Kobelco was there to help somewhat. But I couldn’t leave it to Kobelco alone, so I took my turn midway and let Kobelco rest.
Until the wall is built, this kind of thing will probably go on for a while.
”Kyupi~” ”Go-!”
The next morning, we all had breakfast together. After eating, Keon crawled around Kobelco’s body, lifting off the dirt, to thank him. Thanks to Keon, Kobelco’s steel body was shining like new.
”Go-!” ”Kyupi~♪”
Kobelco raised his hands and shouted happily. Keon also looked satisfied.
”Today I think we’ll go over the division of labour.” ”Kyupi?” ”Unii?” ”Koo~?” ”””””Mogu~ mogu mogu?””””” ”Go-?”
Everyone was showing expressions that said “What do you mean?”. So, let me explain.
”Whether it’s the magic reverberator furnace or the wall, we’ll need quite a lot of materials. I thought it would be quicker to split up than to have everyone working together. Especially for the lime, I’m the only one who can dive in the water, so I need to go.”
Lime is the fundamental one that’s needed the most of. So, I’ll be mainly diving in the sea and killing monsters that can give lime. For the time being, the other thing I need is glass. So I’ll ask everyone to mainly hunt the Glasshoppers. At the same time, I want them to find the wood needed to make the mold. We have enough gypsum and iron, so that’s not a problem. With regards to gypsum, I’ve found out that other than the bandages, it turns out that Skeleton’s bones are also useful. This is thanks to Keon, as gypsum can be made from the Skeletons’ bones by using Keon’s acid. So gypsum isn’t a problem. I’ve asked Keon to make oxidised iron and gypsum in the prefab. After that, I want more glass. And other magic stones. We might be able to get it from the underwater monsters, but I’d like to be more or less conscious of it. Kobelco is strong, and Kani can put up barriers, so I don’t think there’ll be a problem. But at first it’s still a bit of a concern, so after explaining the whole thing, I decided to follow along. Everyone showed a willingness to do it though. Then the Glasshopper appeared in that cave. The problem, is how everyone will defeat it. Because this guy can disappear.
However, this wasn’t a problem at all. That’s because the moles were playing a very active part. When the moles found the Glasshopper, first they dove into the ground, and then dug a pit. This caused the Glasshopper to hop about, resulting in it falling in the hole somewhere and getting stuck. The idea is that, if there are a lot of pits when it goes transparent, it’ll fall into one of them. The light beams wouldn’t hit them if they were in the ground, and even if they got attacked first, they would be protected by the wall that is Kobelco. Kani’s barriers also mant there was no problem at all. After falling into the pit, the glass could be obtained using Kobelco and Uni’s magic to defeat it. It was the perfect lineup.
”Amazing, guys. At this rate, there won’t be any problems.” ”””””Mogu~ mo-gu~♪””””” ”Unii” ”Koo~♪” ”Go-!”
Hm, hm. I’ll stroke them plenty afterwards for a job well done. I checked to see if they could fight other monsters jujst in case, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem either. There’s a difference between the true strength of the monsters in this area and Kobelco. At night, there’s a lot of bad ones, but during the daytime, it’s manageable. When I returned to the prefab after some looking, Keon was there also, working hard making gypsum and oxidised iron.
”Thanks, Keon.” ”Kyupi~♪”
When I stroked his head, he rubbed up against me happily. Keon’s body was cool and comfortable.
Then, I got in the magic submarine in the sea and diligently searched for materials. Fortunately, there were quite a few shell monsters, and I was able to get a good amount of lime from all of them. After a few days of collecting the necessary materials, I received some news from everyone.
”””””Mogu! Mogyu~””””” ”Eh? You found a tree that might be suitable?” ”Unii!” ”Koo~?” ”Go-!”
Apparently, they found some wood that could be used for making the mold. So I decided to go and asked everyone to guide me there. I also carried Keon on my shoulder, and we headed off together. Then — at the place where they guided me to, there was a large amount of lush, knotty plants growing thickly. However, this is—
”Bamboo! That’s surprising. I didn’t know it grew like this.”
Right, this place was like a bamboo grove, with a huge amount of bamboo growing there. And it was lucky for me. Bamboo is really useful in construction. It can also be used for scaffolding. But it’s very overgrown. I guess it was never cared for, but it’s quite dense. Bamboo is just so fertile. But this was the result of — hmm.
”Good job finding this. As I expected.” ”Mogu~♪” ”Mogyu~” ”Mogu- mogu-♪” ”Mogu mogu~” ”Mo~gu~♪” ”Uni uni♪” ”Koo~ koo~” ”Go-!”
I praised and stroked everyone. Now then, this is the important part. I took out the magic chainsaw from my bracelet. Alright, with this, the bamboo—
”What do you intend to do with My bambooooo!”
Just then, a voice came out of nowhere and the bamboo grove began to rustle. What on earth…
