Raising the glowing crimson sword, Lucas slashed with his full strength.
A torrent of mana burst forth from his sword and took a shape of a huge crimson glowing arc descending the goblin.
A red glow passed through the goblin's body. The red glow didn't dim even after passing through the body and passed through the ground, obliterating anything that stood before its path.
At first, there was no ripple in the air but slowly the ground began to shake and started to split apart and huge fissures started to appear from the spot goblin was standing.
Slowly, the goblin body started to split as blood splattered from the middle, the spot through where Lucas's sword passed.
Slowly, the body split into two halves and fell to the ground.
The goblins who were standing afar watching the scene were shocked with their eyes widened in horror.
The body of their mighty warrior was split into two halves by the human sword and finally, the two halves fell at the opposite end with spurting out from the body like a river and standing behind him was the human with its entire body drenched in blood looking at them with cold sharp eyes.
Shrill cries of agony echoed throughout the surroundings by the goblin's death.
Seeing their strongest warrior dying in the human's hands, they turned around and fled in any direction they could find wanting to save their lives.
Lucas looked at the scene and chuckled.
He didn't chase them and looked at the notification that appeared after killing the Drank goblin.
[You have gained 100,000 experience]
"That was quite a lot," Lucas muttered as he observed the goblin's corpse.
He went near it and saw a yellow stone embed in the white bone necklace. Lucas felt something touching the stone. As he touched the stone, he felt mana seeping into his body through the stone. He took the stone and put it in the ring.
It wasn't wise to waste time thinking about it for now.
He had to get out of this place now.
After all who knows more goblins maybe come on their way here.
Lucas glanced at the devastating battlefield full of corpses and blood.
This was his first time slaughtering many monsters at the time still he didn't feel anything off except a weird hollow feeling burning inside him which was telling him, he had left being a human being for a long time.
Standing on the mountain of corpses, he watched the goblins fleeing and his silhouette melted into the shadow.
...
A figure was running, trying his best to escape from the wretched place. He was limping in one leg as the other had been crushed.
Blood was trickling from his forehead and his face was pale like a sheet.
As he dragged his body, trails of blood were left behind on the ground. Though he knew it was dangerous for blood to be left behind as the beast may track him down following the trail.
But he didn't have the luxury to mind these things. All his healings potions were finished. From the moment he had fled from the village, he had been attacked at every path with a horde of monsters.
He was barely able to hang onto his life.
He had no one to rely on and has to suffer alone fighting against these monsters to save himself.
The deeper he went into the mountain pathway, the more desolate the scenery became. There was no lack of shrubs, bushes and thorns through the path except their condition is strange.
The atmosphere was quite humid and the trees seemed to be eerie and dark. Brambles and grass grew from within the cracks of the rocks. Withered trees seemed to manifest themselves into distant darkness as the sun started to go down the horizon.
The cold wind could be heard blowing through the branches emitting ghastly whispers that give one a dreary feeling
The boy scanned around to search for a place to hide in the night. As took a step, he heard a cracking sound of bones.
He panicked and took a step back. He squatted down to see the source of the sound. As he dusted off the dried leaves, he found a cracked skull of a certain creature.
Seeing the bones of a beast, he hurriedly stood up and got away from this place. It appeared to be bones of forest goat which may have been killed and eaten by some beast.
Dragging his limping legs, he surveyed his surrounding.
He heard a faint whisper of beast walking. His sixth sense was telling him of the impending danger that was about to come.
He wanted to speed up but with his wounded leg, it was even difficult for him to take a step forward.
"Growllll."
Finally, the loud growl of the nearby beast was heard. His back was already drenched in sweat on hearing the sound, his heart started to beat faster as if it will come out from his chest.
Boooom.
He turned around to see a beast barging towards him.
The trees that stood before it was crushed and turned into powder as they were hit by him. A huge asura bear was directly charging towards him with a loud growl.
Gritting his teeth to endure the pain, he ran with limping legs but before he took a few steps, he was hit in the back hard and was sent flying away in the air.
He slammed against a rock at the side from the impact.
Crackle!
The sound of a few bones breaking was heard as he crashed onto the rock.
His back had the deep imprint of the paw with a deep wound from which blood flowed down and rinsed the rock and the soil on which he was leaning.
He looked at the bear as if this was his final moment. Even if he struggled hard there is no way he would be able to escape from here with his pitiful condition.
Memories of the past flashed before his eyes as he thought back about his life. He had been quite arrogant and prideful and used to look down on others for being low born.
But before his impending death, nothing matters. Even his high status in society wasn't able to save him from death today.
The bear was about to pounce on the prey and used it to satisfy its hunger but before he could do that.
Three daggers appeared out of nowhere and pierced its chest and dug into its chest deeply forcing it to take a few steps back.
The boy who closed his eyes at the incoming of his death suddenly felt something amiss and opened his eyes to see the bear being wounded by daggers someone have thrown.
As he was still immersed in shock about whom saved him. A silhouette passed from his back which frightened him more as he was currently leaning on the rock.
The silhouette appeared before him and raising his sword slashed at the bear.
A sword light passed through the bear and a head flew off in the air and fell on the ground with a small thud as blood splattered from the bear's upper neck like the fountain.
The body of the bear thrashed and wiggled in pain before finally dying down.
The silhouette turned its back to look at him with blood on his face and looked at him with his glowing golden eyes as the darkness descended in the forest by the arrival of dusk.
"Lucas."
"Charles."
Both of them spoke at the same time being shocked by the other party's appearance.
Lucas looked at the wretched figure of Charles with messy hair covered blood all around his body full of cuts. The elegance and eloquence that he usually emitted were nowhere to be found.
'Why is he still in the forest. Isn't he supposed to have escaped?'Lucas thought as he scanned Charles from head to toe.
While Lucas was immersed in his thought, Charles found it hard to believe that Lucas was the one to save him. Moreover, he killed an E rank beast with just a single slash of his sword.
'Just how strong is he?'Charles muttered inwardly as he clenched his fist.
Looking at Lucas, he felt the world had turned upside down.
This exploration had opened his eyes, while he was wasting time being jealous and looking down on others, everyone was moving forward while he stood still.
His mindset had allowed others to surpass him.
Lucas didn't know what to say. He was feeling quite complicated. While hurrying down here he saw someone was going to be killed so he rushed here to save but he hadn't imagined it was Charles who was attacked.
Moreover, he is just about to die. If he had died here then what would have happened to the evil deed that he was going to commit in the future.
'Did I just save someone who wanted to destroy peace and will play with the lives of innocents,' Lucas muttered inwardly.
Honestly, he was feeling quite conflicted after saving him.
Finally, he cleared away all the unnecessary thoughts and threw an intermediate potion towards Charles.
Seeing the potion coming towards him, Charles's lifeless eyes shined brightly and he pounced on the potion like a wild hungry beast pouncing on its prey.
After taking the potions, his wound disappeared without leaving a scar. His face returned to his peak of handsomeness and his lifeless eyes filled with vigour after drinking it.
Lucas watched Charles being recovered and thought it was better to leave him alone.
Lucas doesn't know if he would be able to control himself if Charles started to show his status here and started to curse him about his commoner upbringing.
Lucas may kill him if Charles pissed him now.
After killing in huge numbers, he was not feeling alright. His mind had been clouded by violence
after all those kills.
Without speaking anything, Lucas turned around started to walk away leaving Charles looking at him in a daze.
