Chapter 1287: Abyssal Butterfly(6)

As Kernel thought of the taming battle, he couldn't help but grow solemn. An Abyssal Butterfly was already a solid and formidable creature, but with the addition of [Eternal Shadow], it becomes a terrifying beast to fight against.

Abyssal Butterfly was a creature of hell. It was an intense race with low numbers. As its race on the card suggested, the Abyssal Butterfly wasn't an artificially or naturally created race. It had descended from a mighty race and had reached this level because of degeneration in the bloodline.

Not every mutation resulted in positive growth for the race, and the same was the case with the Abyssal Butterfly.

The creatures of this race descended because of an extremely rare mutation in the Death Butterfly. The element of corruption was the cause of the mutation.

Death Butterfly was one of the top races in hell, with several of their members located in hell around the Primordial Dimension as well.

Countless years ago, there was a Sacred Monarch level beast in the Death Butterfly. He later became the first mutation and the first Abyssal Butterfly.

What caused the mutation was never revealed by the top echelons of the Death Butterfly race, but their disgust with that mutation could be seen by the fact that the first Abyssal Butterfly was brutally killed by its own father.

Several mutations followed later, and every mutation had the same result, death. Everything changed when the daughter of one of the top families in the race began mutating.

Even though the family was in the same mind as other families about the execution of the mutated creatures, they couldn't do the deed when someone in their own family got mutated.

Hiding the mutation from other families, the father dropped his daughter far off where it wouldn't be easy for the Death Butterflies to find her. That way, the girl became the first survivor of the Abyssal Butterfly and also the strongest one at that.

Abyssal Butterflies couldn't reproduce, so there were very few of them since it wasn't easy for the mutated Death Butterflies to survive. Even one survival out of ten mutations was a tough task.

Being a royal in the Abyssal Butterfly was determined by whether they had [Eternal Shadow].

Kernel wasn't afraid of the Death Butterfly since they were beings of Hell, and in the Sacred Dimension, only a few races can challenge Lazarus. What worried him the most was the reaction of the Abyssal Butterflies.

As the survival rate of the Abyssal Butterflies was incredibly low, and so was their creation, they were excessively possessive toward other members of their race. They would go to any extent to get the Abyssal Butterfly from his hands.

A few seconds later, Kernel shook his head with a wry smile and stopped thinking about what the Abyssal Butterfly would do. Everything came later after he won the taming battle.

If he lost it, then there would never be a point where the Abyssal Butterflies would become enemies with him.

Kernel didn't even need to think twice about his decision and made up his mind to buy the Abyssal Butterfly. The price of seventy thousand ultimate Sacred stones was nothing in comparison to the beast.

Kernel then left the pillar and joined the queue for the square device. It took a wait of several minutes for him to get his turn since there were many customers ahead of him.

While waiting Kernel was thinking of different strategies for winning against the Abyssal Butterfly.

When it was finally his turn, he placed the beast card in the card compartment and his hand on its respective spot. The next moment, he found himself standing in a different environment.

Kernel couldn't help but shrink and shudder when he appeared there. He felt a chill seep down his spine.

It wasn't a cold chill but an eerie sensation that emerged due to the prevalence of the elements of death and corruption in the surroundings.

The surroundings was the exactly opposite of what he sensed. He stood in the darkness of the night with the stars shining in the sky, creating a beautiful sight.

Flicker!

Kernel was taking in the contract between sight and senses when he heard the flickering of wings. He turned in that direction and saw the creature. It was as its illustration was on the beast card, but Kernel had underestimated the size of the creature.

The Abyssal Butterfly floating in the sky with its wings moving at rapid speed was around a hundred meters in height, while its width was twice that. The tendrils atop its wingtips were around half of Kernel's height.

Kernel couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the beast when he saw it. The beast had an entirely different expression in its eyes. It was looking at Kernel as if it were a source of play for it—a cruel play where it could torment Kernel any way it wanted.

Ding!

The bell that had no direction of origin rang and announced the start of the taming battle. The next moment, the shining dots in the sky began to dim one by one, and the intensity of the darkness grew.

Darkness didn't frighten Kernel since he was a creature that cultivated spirits. He could easily see in the dark without even opening his eyes.

The next moment, its tendrils atop the wingtips moved, and a malevolent aura spread around the sky. It reached Kernel in no time, and he was also affected by it.

'Wouldn't it be great if the Abyssal Butterfly could help me kill my cousin, erasing the only competitor in my generation?' Kernel thought as he was immediately affected by [Corruption Aura].

The thoughts that would get him executed if they were ever to be leaked to his father or other ancestors, passed through his head. Even Kernel didn't expect him to have such thoughts.

Kernel's spirit was strong, so he soon came out of the effect, but that time was enough for him to know what he unknowingly thought. It didn't affect Kernel as much as he had expected.

Kernel was aware that every living being had dark thoughts, so there was no point feeling bad about them. What mattered was that he didn't instinctively think of doing any of them.
