Queens, the Year 1990

In a small-tidy gym, a young man is hitting the punching bag with rhythmic punches.

"Boom!" "Boom!"

Each punch is calculated, and full of power and the rhythm is excellent.

Sunny, the 18-year-old boy focused on his exercise and didn't know when his uncle Rudy came inside the Gym. Watching his nephew beating the hell out of the punching bag, he felt it was a pity he didn't pursue a career in boxing.

He watched as sunny finished his workout and finally took off his gloves and sat on the bench. This was the time to speak with Sunny now.

"Sunny, I found a reliable buyer for our Tavern. Are you sure you want to sell it?"

Rudy handed a towel to Sunny while asking the same question again.

"Uncle, I have decided to leave this area now. My future is not here, and that Tavern will always hold me back. I need some starting capital and it is the only thing, worth enough money for me to sell."

Sunny replied after taking the towel.

"You know that Tavern has changed since we took over. 20 years ago, no one ever wanted to have a drink in that place and now, it is famous with the locals." His uncle said while thinking about the good old days.

"C'mon uncle. You are going to join the company in Canada. What will I do here alone?" Sunny said and left for the shower.

Uncle Rudy is like a father to him, but he cannot bring himself to tell him his true thoughts. Sunny is reborn from the future. From 2024 to being born back in the 1980s; It was already mind-boggling.

To add more salt to the wounds, his father left his mother when she was still pregnant, and his mother dropped him off to his uncle when he was barely 4-years-old, before running off somewhere. This new life started with one big shock to another.

In the last 14 years, Uncle Rudy has taken care of him like his own son but now, he finally found a big break in Ale making company and needs to leave with his family for Canada.

So, for Sunny, it makes sense to sell the family Tavern. Thankfully, his grandpa bought this in his time otherwise, Uncle Rudy could have never afforded this place.

Their tavern in Queens is not that famous but it is just too close to Union Course, and Race Track and it gets a lot of crowd because of it. His uncle Rudy Grover inherited this Tavern from Grandpa and started selling cheap Beer and Ale to increase the profits during the recession.

Yes, the economy is almost negative in the past few years but somehow people go by it and Sunny watched the pitiful condition of the tavern and joined in to help his uncle. When he was 12 years old, he suggested making their own Beer and Ale to create a brand image and also pushed his Uncle to invite Black artists and singers to come here and perform and increase their customer base.

Queen in the 1980s is full of colourful people. It is dominantly white but more than 30% of the population is here non-white. This number just keeps increasing and the change in their tavern allowed them to get a wider range of customers, a good music scene and increase their profits.

Sunny came up with many suggestions in his teenage years and together they developed the unique and original Ale and Beer recipes and the gaming hall that has become famous in the last five years.

The Canadian company is ready to buy the recipe, offer Uncle Rudy a new place in their brewery, and provide a new house and many facilities. His Uncle wanted him to take over the Grover Tavern like family, but his goals are way bigger than that Tavern.

In the evening, they met the buyer, Neir's family who wanted to get into the Tavern business and expand the club with bowling and other facilities.

The two parties hit it off and finally decided on the price to be four hundred thousand dollars (400,000$ dollars) for the Tavern and thirty thousand dollars (30,000$) for all the furniture and well-maintained game arena and finally two hundred and fifty thousand dollars (250,000$ )dollars for all the drinks and their microbrewery in the presence of their lawyers.

This was a sky-high price for a tavern in the 1990s but considering the value and popularity of the tavern with the locals, the rich Neir Family didn't haggle much. They will start betting here soon after getting the licence and that will soon fill this pit.

After a strange dinner with Uncle Rudy's family (Sunny hated his uncle's bossy wife and dumb kids), Sunny received almost four hundred thousand dollars (400,000$).

"Uncle, this is too much. You are putting a lot extra here! Please don't." Sunny tried to return the money, but Uncle Rudy won't budge.

"C'mon boy, it was you who came up with the recipe and the game hall idea. Those game machines that we imported from Japs have become a rage in our Tavern. Listen, I know you don't like your aunt but for me, you are also my family. Besides, I am going to sell the house and will earn a lot more.

So, this is from your uncle. Take it. I hope you don't get into some trouble. But In case you do, save my number and give me a call in case you ever get into something you cannot solve. Okay!"

Uncle Rudy left Sunny alone in his room and Sunny carefully divide the money into four parts and stored it in his bag, in his clothes and in his boots before packing his bag.

There was a lot of nostalgia in this place but without Uncle's family, there was no meaning in staying here.

In the morning, Sunny hugged his uncle tightly before leaving.

"Take care boy! Keep your nose clean!" His uncle shouted from behind and sunny waved back to him and walked away.

His first goal was to get a decent new ride. He already got his driving permit three weeks back and in America, one cannot live without a ride.

He walked towards the local car dealership and after haggling for a long time, he chose a (relatively) new pickup truck.

It had enough empty space in the back and was in perfect mint condition. A black 1984 Ford SVT Lightning, big enough with power and sound but just eats a lot of gas. With a budget under 35,000 dollars, it fit perfectly for him.

"VROOOM!"  "VROOOM!" "VRROOOOM!"

Putting the truck in gear, he pushed the accelerator and took a deep breath of the new paint and leather and drove his truck towards the main road.

For now, he has to find ways to double or triple this money.

The first stop - Downtown Manhattan.
