By October 92, Kenneth who is now COO of Rover Pictures and John who became production head started focusing on their motion pictures and Fast and Furious was put on the floor.
Now, only the lead actors needed to be finalised for which Sunny took command. All special effects were simply handed over to Weta Studios which was designing the car explosions and smoke effects Sunny wanted in the movie.
Sunny also had a talk with Weta founding couple but they were not ready to sell their small studio or accept investment at this stage. Sunny couldn't force them either. Hence, they were still in a cooperative relationship.
Sunny decided to focus on global expansion before the big eight (became six and then the big four) eat all the meat from the market.
1992 is a period of recession and countries like Columbo, Japan, and South Korea are going through a rough phase. Columbo is home for music, Japan for animation and games and South Korea for TV dramas and movie production.
What they all have in common is their current currency is too weak compared to dollars and a 5 million or 10 million US dollar investment is a huge sum for them.
Sunny was on a tight deadline. He had to put all the money he had in the bank (almost 100 million) into a meaningful investment to avoid paying large taxes and capitalising on the growing market.
However, the first thing on his agenda was to start the casting for Fast and Furious and Old Gary and Young Gary were calling him daily to finalise the actors.
Sunny told them to invite young actors from the actors guild and book a room in the guild to hold auditions there. He wanted young and fresh faces that could be signed a long-term deal to make sure the sequels won't have casting problems.
In Hollywood, the news immediately spread and many young actors with bright shining eyes were getting ready for a chance to star in this movie.
The budget of the movie was as high as 30 million dollars and it is a big movie project in this era. Sunny wanted to shoot the movie for under 10 million but he needed dazzling cars, shooting in areas like Miami and Mexico and that raised the budget considerably.
Of course, of these 30 million less than 5 were planned to be spent on all the actors.
Sunny arrived at the studio with Old Gary and both of them walked inside to the Audition room. The audition will start around 10 am but there was already a long line of young actors outside. Sunny kept watching the fresh faces but sadly failed to recognise any one of them.
'It seems either they are too young or not the famous A-list actors from future," Sunny thought before grabbing his seat. On his right, young Gary was already sitting and on his left, old Gary took his place. The trio started auditioning for the Fast and Furious.
Sunny had to take a break to go out and have a smoke. The young actors that came for the audition didn't leave any impression and the ones they had checked the whole morning were far from any role they designed.
It seemed like he was going to spend a lot of time finalising the crew.
"Hey Man! Do you have a light?" Suddenly a young man from behind asked Sunny.
Sunny just looked back and handed over the lighter to this new actor. He knew he found someone just by looking at this guy's face.
"You came for the audition?" Sunny asked.
"Yeah, I mean didn't we all? My agent told me that these guys are making a movie that might suit my style. You know, hit every door till it closes on your face, right?" The guy spoke.
Sunny took a deep puff and then stopped talking. He knew this guy was a good actor but what role would fit him the most?
This guy won't fit the image of the undercover cop Brian and for Dominic Toretto, he wanted someone bulky with a bigger physique like Vin Diesel but he can break the original idea for him.
Also, even though he is not tall, he is definitely a gym junkie. Those muscles were definitely something that fit the image of Toretto.
Sunny kept thinking and after taking the last puff, he crushed the ciggy under his boots and spoke only one sentence to this guy - "See you inside!"
Then Sunny left the confused actor outside.
"Shall we resume?" Young Gary asked.
"Why not? Let the games being!" Sunny said in a comic way and all the three guys laughed.
Then a young actress came inside for an audition. She was hot with a great figure and a nice cute face. However, her acting skills were terrible.
"Next!" Sunny just shouted loudly and sent the girl away.

"She had a good figure." Old Gary said in a low voice.
"Yeah. But I need someone better." Sunny replied and then the audition resumed.
The first break came when a black woman entered the audition room. Sunny saw her resume and his eyes lit up. This was a future top star and one of the bond girls.
"Hello? Miss Halle Berry, right?" Sunny asked.
"Yes. Hello. I'm... I am here to audition for the role of Letty." Halle Berry spoke after some time.
"You have the lines for the part? Great. Please Start." Old Gary spoke and the trio watched her performance.
Sunny just put a tick on her name and showed it to both the other guys. They understood that they got the first actor for their movie.
"Miss Halle. Do you have your agent with you?" Young Gary asked. As a black director, he prefers working with black actors and his communication skills are also very good.
"Sorry...I have no agent for time being. But I am registered with the actors' guild and have done a TV series and had a small role for Director Spike Lee's Jungle Fever." Halle replied immediately fearing she might lose the opportunity because of her lack of an agent.
"No issues. We will call you later to confirm the details. Congratulations." Young Gary sent the happy Halle out and the trio started discussing.
"She is perfect. Short hair, great figure, nice smile and she can even act!" Sunny said and they laughed at the last word.
"Yup. Good enough. Plus her pay is very low and she can sign a long deal I think." Old Gary spoke.
"Young Gary, do you know director Spike Lee?" Curiously Sunny asked.
"Well, I know him by his name but never got the chance to meet him. He is famous in our circle though." Young Gary said.
"Cool. Send someone to contact her and sign a 6-picture movie deal with her with an appropriate salary increase. If she doesn't have an agent, just get the lawyers from Actor's guild to be present at the scene." Sunny spoke and then it was settled.
With one role out, the auditions speed increased but still, it was almost in the evening when the actors Sunny met outside smoking came in for his audition.
"Hello, Yeah! I am Mark. Mark Wahlberg. I am here to audition for the role of this guy.....Dominic Toretto..." Mark said looking down at his script but when he saw the guy sitting in the central chair, he just flipped!
"Yo! Dude! You are the one making this film. Cool...Cool... Nice." Mark spoke like a rapper and Sunny felt laughing loudly looking at his crazy antics.
However, young Gary was more or less not satisfied with his acting and antics.
"Please start reading your lines, Mark!" He spoke and forced Mark to get serious again.
However, his performance was good. The role of a tough guy and muscle toned man suited him. Besides, the role of Dominic didn't need that much expression but he had good facial expressions.
Sunny also ticked his name but found young Gary had crossed it. Old Gary just left it open.
The trio asked the regular questions and then sent him away telling him that they will contact his agent in three days with the results.
"He is too young and he doesn't match the tough guy character. It feels more of a comedy guy than a car driving punk boy we need." Young Gary spoke the moment Mark went out.
"Wait...What?" Sunny was caught like a deer in flashlights.
"Yup. I got the same feel. He was funny and great but he ain't fit for this role" Old Gary Spoke and confirmed Young Gary's thoughts.
"Fuck...You know I really liked this guy," Sunny said in a dejected manner. This was a future superstar but he had no idea his image won't match with the character set in both Gary's head.
"Fine. Let's move on." Sunny then cut the name and decided to move on. Maybe this is a future superstar but there are hundreds of superstars in future and what he needs more is a suitable actor, not a future star.
