7. We Speak to Him / The Beginning
When I opened my eyes, I saw my feet drowned in a pool of water, covering up to my ankles. It was raining hard, and each and every drop felt like it was pressing my whole body down. The unsettling shower of these droplets made my hearing ache, only taking in the loud sounds of rain falling to the ground.
When my eyes widened to see the ground around me, I saw no dirt, no green, no life. Debris from broken fragments of fallen buildings stretched for miles in all directions. There were no hills, no mountains of any size, no trees to fill the life around, and there were no words that I could describe what I’m seeing other than everything was just flat. If this fog and the rain weren’t there, I may be seeing a vast land stretching hundreds of miles far.
Then I saw something that caught my attention. To my left, I saw four people lining up straight - two women and two men, and various colors surrounded them like blue, brown, white, and yellow. They looked like they were holding spirits of nature with vibrant colors that seemed to release great power. But then I realized that I also was surrounded by colors, coated in a slight warmth of red and orange presence.
Oh, so much power I could feel around me. This strength, it’s scary. This power - I could cause destruction. I could bring out fear. But for some reason, I couldn't do anything. My feet got locked in place underneath the ocean of water, and my body never moved when ordered. What was going on?
I turned to look at those people again. And aside from their appealing colors, their eyes looked lifeless, entirely washed out. They didn’t move an inch, like how I am, nor did they express any sense of emotions. All they did was look ahead in front of me. And without moving ever since I opened my eyes, they kept looking forward like they were witnessing something horrendous in front of them. So in curiosity, I turned my head away and looked in their direction.
Up in the distance, I saw a figure, a small boy that was almost half my height. But he was covered in complete and utter blackness. Every inch of his body was nonexistent. The rain falling on him didn’t seem to drizzle down from its landing, but instead, it seemed to get absorbed into his body.
Who is he? My own body couldn’t register him properly, and I had doubts if… it even was a person. I wanted to ask who he was. He seemed to be lost. But the longer I looked at him, the faster my heart beat.
With each passing second, my blood was boiling, and my vision turned red. The longer I looked at it, the stronger my urge of wanting to kill it became. Suddenly, my feet began to take their course and strode forward, leaving a tail of a small water current behind. I walked up to the boy, and so did the other four people next to me. We all walked in unison, without speaking and not focusing on anything else but him. My sense of reasoning ceased to exist - I just kept walking. All I wanted to do right now was rip him apart and hear him scream over this loud rain.
The closer we got to him, the redder his face became. Within that dark void face were a set of abnormal blood-red eyes. The glowing red color traced around the blackness of his face into a shape of large eyes, twice as large as any human eye. The red outlined the eyelids, the eyelashes, and the eyes themselves, and they stared back at us with complete nothingness.
But whoever this person is, there is something strange reminiscing from the back of my head. It’s that feeling of remembering being in close ties with him. That figure, hair, and height, something in my mind is saying that this wasn’t the first time I met him. But who exactly is he… and why does it make me feel this way? If I want to kill him, what deeds has he done that caused death to wage?
I kept walking over to him until my vision suddenly got drowned in darkness by the sudden downpour of the rain, more mighty than the previous by tenfold. It poured with such force and great quantity that it looked like I was trying to see through a waterfall.
But before my vision darkened and my hearing blanked, there was a flash of light beaming like a massive star. It blinded my sight in utter brightness, but through that light, I saw a girl. The girl was coated in white - the complete opposite of the boy. I tried to understand who she was, but the light faded, and now everything turned dark… She disappeared with the light, and she vanished before I could take in what had happened. There was something strange about her. From a second of her appearing, there was nothing I could sense from her, other than… to wait for her…
Even if all of this were so vivid in my memories, dreams were just dreams. And dreams will be forgotten about a week later. But I remember, somewhere, a man said that dreams foretell events that were to come. And if this dream was to be that, then I wonder what it would mean for me…

Once Upon a Time
There was a man who many called the [Fire Elementalist]. He had strength like no other. He was the peak of dominance in power that many wished to have. To have power strong like his was like asking to become a god.
But one day, the [Fire Elementalist] got severely wounded from a battle that raged countless times. In worry that he and humanity will fail to survive, he as the [Fire Elementalist] created a wall that was tall and strong enough to keep the enemies away.
The [Fire Elementalist] encircled humanity in a vast land with the wall he created, a land big enough for everyone to live in and grow. Stretching 1,000 miles from one end to the other, the [Fire Elementalist] believed that what he had done was good.
But his life was slowly deteriorating - the long and suffering battle has caused his heart to weaken and muscles to grow fatigue. So he, as the [Fire Elementalist], entrusted his powers to one man and one woman. Once gifting his powers and dividing them to the two people, the [Fire Elementalist] faded away.
But there was something the [Fire Elementalist] had told them before he vanished. The [Fire Elementalist] told them to protect millions of their people and survive, for he proclaimed that he will be reborn. And to understand when he returns, he declared that strange events will occur when he finally comes back. And the man and the woman did so.
They both constructed a one-of-a-kind city. A vast civilization built with technology and intelligence. They built a city in the center covering 100,000 square miles of the land the [Fire Elementalist] had provided to protect humanity. And for a thousand years, they continued to protect the people and expand the remaining 680,000 square miles of free land, and the people worshiped them as gods.
But as the thousand year threshold of living weakened their powers, the man and the woman entrusted their fire gifted from the [Fire Elementalist] to four loyal men. They divided their powers evenly to the four and just like their father who vanished, they too faded.
Decades passed, and the four men followed their ancestors’ footsteps, protecting humanity from what lies beyond the wall the [Fire Elementalist] had created.

But one day, their minds have become twisted and began going astray from what their gods have told. They became deceitful and sinister. People who lived all their lives to witness the path the previous lords have entold, they stepped back and revolted against their new rulers.
But for what the four men have become, so did the others who worshiped them.
Humanity was divided into two: the loyal humanity keeping commands from their past rulers, and the humanity that followed the current overly righteous rulers. The four rulers have used their powers for their horrid schemes, and the biggest was cutting land more than a half of what the [Fire Elementalist] gave. They created a wall of their own and encircled the people in an even tighter circle. From what was 780,000 square miles of land now became 340,000. This was one of the events that sparked a revolution.
When a conflict comes, war would follow. And for years, two sides have fought until one would fall. Buildings fell and lands disintegrated. Fire engulfed the world they lived in. Flames were thrown left to right and explosions blasted people within the area into pieces. Blood was everywhere like no one has witnessed. Many called this battle [The Red War].
Suddenly, from out of the ruler-opposing group stood four strong men. For what they saw in them deemed high loyalty and leadership over the current rulers. Though their strength was not close to the level of the corrupted leaders, their people gave them all the power needed to take them down and end the war.
The corrupted rulers vanished and the four new leaders and their people won. They declared victors over the gruesome war that killed millions and plummeted thousands of buildings to the ground.
For those who were worshippers of the corrupted leaders, they got exiled from the growing city, tossing them out into the bare wilderness that had treacherous conditions from the war. They lived with barely any resources provided and survived with eating rodents and bugs.
Many who attempted to reach the wall in order to escape died before making it. With more than a hundred miles to cover before they could see the wall in the distance, all died of hunger and exhaustion.
Decades have passed after the war and the two groups have established names for their divided society. The people who dwelled in the city with all power and resources were called the Dominant League. The other side who were living in the barren lands were called the Righteous League.
The Dominant League covered 100,000 square miles of land while the Righteous League covered 240,000 square miles.
Years passed without much provocation between the two leagues. But all of a sudden, a strange phenomenon began to appear in the Righteous League that caused everyone to become curious. A massive portion of land jutted out from the ground in a cylindrical formation. Like pulling up a tube from the ground, hundreds of these mysterious towers appeared in a blink of an eye all around the league. All became skeptical and all were confused.
But what brought them to more bewilderment was the strange phenomenon near the wall. Whoever managed to walk a hundred miles to where the circular wall was, they suddenly met their odd demise. They came across a land that pulled them into the foggy abyss. Like a soulless being, they walked away and never returned. Many called this the Land Beyond The Boundary Line, the land that brought men and women towards the wall… but never be heard from again.
As years passed with both sides growing and establishing new grounds, many believed that they were all trapped without any escape. From weak to strong, all drifted away whenever they crossed the Boundary Line. And after decades strided over, there still was no one who could reach the walls without coming back. Thousands “died” in attempts to cross it.
As a result, many people believed that the corrupted rulers were still alive. Living somewhere the people could not see, they were doing more sinful schemes that caused the creation of the Boundary Line and the strange towers.
But others believed that these odd signs indicate that the [Fire Elementalist] will arrive sooner or later.
