“Haha, this year's batch is so huge, that my voice got affected ~Cough ~Cough But fortunately there is only one name remaining on the list. Lucian Svaroh come on stage! “ The headmaster called the last student.
“Svaroh? Wasn’t the family name of the fairy also Svaroh?” Students murmured among themselves.
“He looks so mysterious! I bet he is also a genius!” Even the female students couldn’t control their interest in the black haired boy.
“No matter what comes, I will always be with you, Lu” Aileen tried to motivate her brother, as she could already imagine what comes next.
“Thanks, Ai, you’re the best sis one could have” Lucian smiled after hearing her sweet words and pinched her nose playfully.
Lucian walked to the stage, looking at the expectant faces of the students. Some faces showed reverence and others showed envy. His stoic behavior stole the hearts of countless maidens, who thought he was a bad boy genius, just like in the novels they read.
He arrived at the stage and went to the first crystal, to measure his amount of rings. He already knew how many rings he had, so he didn’t even bother and immediately put his hands on the crystal.
Even after 10 seconds, no light appeared on the crystal.
“What happend, why is there no light?”
“Is the crystal broken?”
There was an outcry from the crowd. It was the first time, that the crystal didn’t show a light, so students wondered if it somehow broke.
“Silence!” The headmaster shouted at the students.
“The crystal is fully working. It’s my first time seeing a student with zero rings. Young man, are you sure you want to stay at this academy? You won’t have a good time for sure” The headmaster explained to the students, that Lucian had no rings and warned him, since Lucian would have a hard life among the real mages.
“I already made my decision, sir” answered Lucian.
“As you wish. Continue” Headmaster DeMaltos frowned, but he accepted the foolish decision of this youth in front of him.
Lucian removed his hands from the first crystal and walked to the second crystal, which appeared to him a lot bigger than it really was. Once he stood in front of the crystal, he forced his hands forward. Although he had known before that he was still a zero ring mage, Lucian didn’t know his talent, so this was his first time measuring his talent.

Some had still hope for this boy, maybe he could surprise everyone with his talent? Maybe he had been in coma for the last years, and only recently started his mage path. However, even the few who had still hope, frowned after seeing the result.
“What?! But there is only this small green spark in the middle!”
“What a disgrace for all nobles, he can’t even light up the crystal! Even the commoners did a better job!”
The result was a solemn, tiny green spark in the middle of the big crystal.
Even the girls, who were madly in love with Lucian just a few seconds ago, had all the butterflies in their stomach die. Some of them got angry, because their black haired knight turned into a talentless doofus.
“Mhm, you have barely any talent for magic, but I will say no more, as you already stated your decision. Go and grab your student badge” said director DeMaltos to Lucian without any hint of annoyance or anger. Although DeMaltos liked geniuses more and treated them better, he had no prejudice against low talent students, DeMaltos knew, that those poor students were not at fault for their lacking talents.
Lucian went to the women, who handled out the student badges, while trying to ignore the hate and ridicule coming from the crowd. The women gave him his badge, with a look of disdain on her face, and Lucian made his way back to his sister, who was waiting for him.
Aileen was silently cursing all those scum, who got excited about being better than her dear brother.
“Sorry for the wait” Lucian said to his sister, while his hand pinched her small nose. It was their childhood habit.
“How dare he touch the fairy!” A fat male student shouted from the crow.
“He is even standing right beside her, polluting her air with his talentless stink!” Another voice came from the crows. This time it was a long, scrawny boy, whose eye bags were almost reaching his nose.
Lucian and Aileen just stood there with empty faces, giving no gratification to the hateful voices.
“Cough, it’s finally over. Don’t disappoint me, kids!” The headmaster’s voiced resounded across the hall, before he walked away from the stage.
Once the headmaster was gone, the women who handed out the badges came forward.
“The ceremony is officially over. Look at your …”
