“G-Grandfather?”

Mingzhe’s hands tighten around Huang Mei’s body and his heart began to pound uncontrollably. However, his eyes remained locked with this old man’s through the heavy rain and his mind raced with thoughts of how to escape.

He’ll never give up, even after being blocked by this mountain in which he can’t see the peak of.

“Young man, release my granddaughter.”

The old man’s words traveled through the air and echoed out in Huang Mei and Mingzhe’s ears. The thunder and heavy rain didn’t affect it.

Mingzhe’s eyes flickered at his words.

After a moment, Mingzhe’s hands loosen around Huang Mai’s body.

Feeling this Huang Mei’s expression changed drastically and she immediately grabbed onto Mingzhe’s robes.

“No Mingzhe, if you do he’ll kill you. He’s only scared of hurting me that he wants you to let me go.”

Mingzhe looked down at Huang Mei’s worried but determined face and felt her tight grip.

His loose hands which were about to release her tighten once again, and he pulled her closer into his embrace.

The old man’s eyes flare and his calm face twisted into a malicious expression.

“You’re going to use a woman as a shield? A coward like you doesn’t deserve to be with my granddaughter.”

“Respected Clan Leader Huang, you’re no one to talk when you've used your own daughter to lure me here.”

Mingzhe’s words were polite, but they struck a nerve, and Clan Leader Huang barked, “Bastard!”

All of a sudden a suffocating pressure erupted from his body. The world then seemed to pause.

The rain around them halted in the midst of their falling, and a threatening aura wafted from him into the surroundings. All of it was being focused on Mingzhe.

“Grandfather, why must you stop us?! We aren’t troubling anyone, we’re going to leave so you don’t have to…”

“SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!”

Clan Leader Huang roared out which cause Huang Mei to flinch.

“That worthless excuse for a son didn’t raise you properly. To betray your clan by falling in love with someone of the Zhao Clan is a sin that can NEVER be forgiven.”

Huang Mei’s expression was one of helplessness as she heard her grandfather’s words.

“Why should the younger generation have to suffer because of the conflicts of the older generation? Your hatred for my clan is blinding you. Using your own daughter’s pregnancy to lure me here, do you not see how twisted your actions are?”

Clan Leader Huang's eyes narrowed, ridicule prominent within them.

“Do not lecture me, boy. You are not qualified. My actions are for the clan. As for her pregnancy, if I had found out sooner I would have made her get rid of it. But now I’ll allow her to have that abomination but once it is born it’ll be tossed away. No one will ever know of it.”

Huang Mei's face was pale, since her childhood. her kind and loving grandfather had never talk like this before. Her hand held her stomach protectively, and her motherly instincts were already being shown.

She would never allow her child to be hurt.

She was hesitant to leave her clan before, but now she realized there was no way she could raise this child in this environment.

“You say your actions are for the clan, that’s nothing but an excuse. You’re only doing this because of your personal grudge against my grandfather. I know what happened in that past, but to hold that grudge over our heads when we did nothing wrong is unfair.”

“ENOUGH!!”

“Whether my actions are personal is of no means. My daughter’s talents are even greater than mine, to have it go to waste by handing her over to a weak and inferior person like you is enough to stop this foolish relationship.”

After saying that, Clan Leader Huang raised his hand and pointed at the couple. The rain drops that had paused in mid-air all shot towards them.

They condensed into water chains that quickly wrapped around Mingzhe.

He had no time to react and Huang Mei was ripped out of his grasp, chains forming around her hands.

“NO!!”

Huang Mei’s expression turned frantic as worry began to flood her heart.

She fear her grandfather in his anger would kill Mingzhe.

If that happened that would immediately lead to an all-out war with the Zhao Clan. The destruction that would occur and the number of lives that would be lost were frighting to think about.

Mingzhe had a chain wrapped around his neck, and his hands, as well as his legs, were bound and stretched out.

His expression remained calm however as he stared at Clan Leader Huang unblinkingly.

“GRANDFATHER!!”

“Please restrain your anger. If you kill Mingzhe then the Zhao Clan will retaliate. Just let us go, we’ll leave and raise our child away from the Huang and Zhao Clan. Why can’t you accept that I love Mingzhe, please grandfather let us go.”

Huang Mei had a pleading expression on her face as she beseech her grandfather, but Clan Leader Huang's expression was cold, and he paid no mind to her pleadings.

His gaze remained fixed on Mingzhe and his eyes flashed with killing intent. But upon seeing Mingzhe’s calm expression, a crease appeared on his forehead.

However, he snorted before saying, “If you think that weak Divine Imprint of that old bastard can save you in this situation, then you can die like a fool.”

Clan Leader Huang raised his finger which began to glow a deep blue color and gave off a deadly feeling.

“GRANDFATHER DON’T!!”

Huang Mei struggled in the chains and tears streamed down her cheeks. No matter what she did the chains remain firmly clasped around her wrists.

She wanted to release her cultivation and try to break free, but she was afraid she might hurt the child she was baring.

Huang Mei watched in horror as her grandfather's finger attack was released and shot towards Mingzhe.

The attack quickly reach Mingzhe, but before it could penetrate his skull killing him, a hand suddenly reached from the void and latched onto the attack.

*Puff*

The hand effortlessly crushed the attack into nothing.

Seeing this Clan Leader Huang's expression immediately changed. This hand appeared out of nowhere inside his Divine Soul domain, and he hadn’t even sensed it.

The lone hand in front of Mingzhe slowly became whole, before the figure in a cloak was revealed fully.

“How tiresome to be stuck babysitting some brat.”

The figure that had his face covered by his cloak said in a somewhat tired and irritated tone.

“Who are you?!”

Clan Leader Huang's expression turned extremely serious upon seeing the appearance of this figure. Something about him made his instincts pound against his senses that he was dangerous.

Clan Leader Huang found it ridiculous that he, a powerful Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, would feel something like fear. It made him become cautious of this person.

The figure in the black cloak completely ignore Clan Leader Huang and turned to Mingzhe and asked, “You brat, are you Mingzhe?”

Mingzhe who had on a calm expression this whole time nodded and said politely, “His senior, my name is Mingzhe.”

“Good! Then my mission is half complete! Now lets’ go, I don’t have time to waste.”

The figure then looked at the chains wrapped around Mingzhe and with a snap of his fingers, they burst apart freeing him.

Grabbing Mingzhe’s shoulder the cloaked figure was about to leave, but Mingzhe hurriedly said, “Wait senior, my fiancé is also accompanying me.”

“Huh?” said the figure before he turned to look at Huang Mei.

“Oh, that’s right. The report said something about this as well.”

“Hehehe, young couple nowadays sure are rebellious.”

The figure said amused as he stretched out his arm towards Huang Mei.

The chains around her hands shattered and she slowly began floating towards him and Mingzhe.

Seeing this, Clan Leader Huang’s expression turned dark and he barked out, “Bastard! What are you doing to my granddaughter?!!”

He was hesitant to make a move at first when saw this person easily destroy his Daoist Magic spell, but he couldn’t just stand and watch as he took Huang Mei away.

Clan Leader Huang formed a single hand seal with his hand before pointing at the figure. The rain around them moved to his command and as they glowed a deep blue color they converge on the cloaked figure in the form of chains, binding him tightly.

Seeing this, the cloaked figure finally looked towards Clan Leader Huang and with a tone filled with confusion, he said, “Huh? Who is this old geezer? Are you trying to stop me from completing my mission? Do you want to die old man?”

The figure’s voice this time sounded like a ticked-off young man.

His bound hand rose up breaking the water chains before he pushed his palm towards Clan Leader Huang.

No fluctuations of an attack were produced and it seemed as if he had merely pushed his palm forwards. However, after the push, Clan Leader Huang was sent flying back uncontrollably as a palm print became visible on his chest.

The chains around the figure were dispelled and without saying anything he casually turned around, ready to leave again.

Clan Leader Huang's expression was filled with shock, and a trail of blood flowed from his lips.

However, seeing that the figure was going to leave with Huang Mei he gritted his teeth and flew towards them.

“Mei’er!”

“If you leave now the Huang Clan is doomed to fall, is that what you want!!”

Hearing her grandfather’s words, Huang Mei's heart trembled and she turned around to look at him.

Clan Leader Huang stopped a distance away and Huang Mei asked, “What do you mean grandfather?”

The cloaked figure paused his teleportation and allowed Huang Mei to speak.

Looking at Huang Mei with a sad expression, Clan Leader Hung said, “I’m reaching the end of my lifespan and I’m unable to break into the next realm. If you leave now, when I die, the Huang Clan would become vulnerable without a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator. Your the only hope I have to entrust to keep the Clan from declining.”

Huang Mei upon hearing this became torn.

“Grandfather I…”

Huang Mei was about to speak, but the cloaked figure interrupted her and said, “Hey, I only stop because I thought you had something important to say, but what is with that dog shit of an excuse? You old fart, why are you trying to place all this burden on your granddaughter? Aren’t you the Patriarch? Your granddaughter is leaving, find another way to solve your problems instead of trying to guilt trip people you piece of shit.”
