Long Feng hearing this shifted his gaze to the woman and then said sarcastically.
“From the way you speak, you seemed to know the reason for this matter. But aren’t you just trying to fish for more information from me about the Central Continent? Like I said before, I have no intentions of helping you cross the Heaven Traversing Bridge nor will I spare any information about the state of the Central Continent. Not until you tell me the identity of that masked person.”
The woman name lady Ya, who turns out to be the Mercenary Association’s Leader, remained silent for a while. After a moment, she sighed.
This was truly a debacle for her. On one hand was the information she desperately sought, while on the other is the dignity of the Mercenary Association.
Those who join the Mercenary Association are never allowed to go against the Association or vice versa. If the individual party did then all accounts and privileges once given by the Association would be taken back, and they would be banned from ever entering an establishment owned by the Association.
Considering how ingrained the Mercenary Association was in the daily life of a normal cultivator who wasn't a part of a sect or clan. Such as information purchase, medicinal pills purchase, cultivation methods purchase, and so on. This was nothing more than cutting off both their legs before tying them to a twenty-tonne boulder.
As for what would result in the Mercenary Association if they ever betrayed someone who joined their organization without a just cause. Not only would their important reputation be tarnished, but there was also a particular case where the entire Mercenary Association itself would start to decline.
It was sort of a blood oath but it spanned way larger than that, and instead of a person, it was a business. The history of this oath was that it was created by the Founder of the Mercenary Association. It was said that he wrote the rules the Association should live by into Heavenly Laws and engraved them onto the heavens.
No matter where or when, as long as a branch anywhere on this planet broke one of these rules now turn Heavenly Laws, heavenly misfortune would befall that branch.
What was even more terrifying to Lady Ya, was that it not only affected that branch but every single branch on the entire planet and in existence.
The scale of the misfortune depends on the scale of the Mercenary Association that broke the rule. Considering she was one of the four leaders of the Mercenary Association in this sub-region if she were to ever break the rule and gave out the Faceless Hero’s identity. If he ended up dying or is harmed because of that, the Heavenly Misfortune would even affect the Mercenary Association on the Central Continent.
She might as well have sentenced her branch to be eliminated since the only way to stop the Heavenly Misfortune was to wipe out the branch that commit the act. It was like cutting off an infected leg before it spreads to the entire body.
As Lady Ya recalled all of this, she didn’t dare gamble on the information being exaggerated tales of their Founder.
To this day, none of the Mercenary Association branches had ever broken one of their Taboo. That was even the reason why they stayed neutral in any and all conflicts.
Lady Ya sighed once again.
Even if she wanted to reveal this Faceless Hero’s identity, her disciple Huifen was the only one who probably knows. And if Huifen told her his identity, he might be breaking one of the Taboos.
“Any and all transactions carried out by a member of the Mercenary Association will be confidential between any and all outsiders of the two parties involved.”
These were the types of Taboos that each and every member that join the Mercenary Association itself, not as a mercenary, but as an official staff of the Association, would have to swear to. Some were really extreme and very specific, but it was partly because of these rules they had to abide by that the Mercenary Association could grow stably and increase their annual profits.
“Young Master Feng, I apologize for not being able to provide you with this information. I-”
“Yeah whatever, I know about your taboos.”
Long Feng immediately cut Lady Ya off as he waved his hand dismissively.
“I was hoping to perhaps wait for her for that bastard to show up, but even after months of waiting he hasn’t.”
“If you mean whether I’ll skin that brat alive and kill him, then yes it is a life and death matter. I don’t mind telling you this, but once someone absorbs my Dragon Qi specifically which is from the main bloodline of the Dragon Clan. Their names will be recorded into our family records as being part of our Dragon Clan.”
“Is that really a bad thing?”
“A bad thing? No, it isn’t a bad thing, it’s a matter that could shake the very foundation of my Dragon Clan.”
Long Feng said that in a grave tone.
Lady Ya hearing this had shock flood her heart. She didn’t know this matter was this serious.
Shake the very foundation of the Dragon Clan? Even though she didn’t know much about the Ancient Clans on the Central Continent, from the fact that this Young Master can freely come and go on the Heaven Traversing Bridge. The Dragon Clan must be a top power on the Central Continent.
To threaten that type of power’s foundation, what could it be? And would absorbing a Prince of the Dragon Clan’s Dragon Qi triggered this, doesn’t that seem rather… exaggerated?
Lady Ya had actually hit the bullseye in her deductions here.
Long Feng was indeed exaggerating this matter, as can be seen from his thoughts after saying those words.
‘Of course this would shake the Foundation of the Dragon Clan. If father ever finds out I’ve been careless then wouldn’t he skin my flesh, drink my blood, then grind my bones into dust to sprinkle on my flesh before eating it? Who would become the next Dragon Emperor if I die? It would be a disaster if a Prince with talents not seen in the Dragon Clan since thousands of years ago, did not become the Emperor!’
As Long Feng’s worry about his father skyrocket to high levels, the small boy on his leg suddenly twisted and turned as he awoke.
Seeing this, Long Feng sighed before turning to Lady Ya and said.
“I’m done waiting, I’ll just wonder the Continent to chance my luck bumping into him again.”
“I hope Young Master Feng would come to an agreement with our Maple Continent’s Faceless Hero. It would be a loss to lose such a genius.”
Long Feng who was about to leave turned and said with a frown.
“I see the Mercenary Association's overwhelming desire to groom geniuses is even here as well. How annoying, I won’t keep any promises.”
With that, Long Feng put on his veil hat before he turned and teleported away with the small boy. The Mercenary Association's anti-teleportation runes that could even restrict peak Soul Transformation Realm cultivators somewhat were completely useless in front of his Ancient Magic.
After some time, a teleportation circle in the room suddenly lit up and Huifen appeared.
Coming up to his master, Huifen looked where Long Feng was seated and asked.
“Did Master find out anything from him in these months?”
Lady Ya remain silent for a brief moment then said.
“Only bits and pieces of information. He might be from the Central Continent but he’s still an inexperienced brat. The things he considers normal to talk about are precious information for us, but to give credit where it’s due, he was still able to stop himself from telling me anything concrete. In fact, the biggest information he revealed was just now.”
