I woke up to a warm and comfortable sensation again.
I could feel the warmth of another human under my cheek, and groggily opening my eyes, I could see that my head was resting in the lap pillow of my mother.
She had her eyes closed and was brushing my hair with her soft hands, with a content expression on her face and eyes still slightly closed.
Feeling me moving my head in waking up, she opens her eyes and smiles down at me.
“Good morning sweetie” she says with a soft smile, still brushing my long curly hair with her fingers.
It feels incredibly comfortable and soothing, and I just sigh while closing my eyes in satisfaction.
After relaxing for a couple more minutes, I open my eyes again, and straighten up in the bed, leaning into her side.
-
I always used to do this in my old body as well, sitting up with a pillow behind my back before starting my day.
Leaning into someone else feels even better. She is still in her beautiful blue dress, which has become quite wrinkly, though she doesn’t seem to mind at all.
Such a loving mother!
-
“How long have I been asleep?” I ask, rubbing the corners of my eyes.
It’s been around half an hour, but you can just keep resting, it’s okay.
“Do you not have any things you have to do?” I ask her.
She looks surprised, before hugging me closely again.
“You don’t have to worry, you’re more important to me than anything, and we have good subordinates helping run and organize everything around the kingdom and palace.”
“Although I usually help with running the kingdom, I’ll always have all the time in the world for you sweetheart,” she says, looking at me with an honest smile on her face.
She’s so kind I feel my heart breaking at the thought of her losing her daughter, even just being so unlucky to have her daughter being born with such a terrible illness.
-
“Then, if it’s okay, can we walk around the garden together, mother?” I ask
-
I want to walk around the palace and see everything, and I imagine the gardens must be very beautiful
I also want to walk around in a beautiful dress surrounded by flowers.
Don’t judge me!
She looks at me with a surprised smile and Maja and the other maids look at me with surprise as well.
Everyone always seems to smile at me with such pure expressions, which makes me blush, but I still look back into my mother’s eyes.
“Do you feel well enough to walk?” my mother still asks me with a worried frown upon her face
“Yes,” I answered.
“Truly? You’re not just trying to make your mother happy?” she asks again.
“Actually, it’s not just for you, I really want to go see the beautiful flowers together with my mother,” I say sincerely.
My mom hugs me tightly, before reluctantly agreeing, telling me to tell her right away if I feel any sicker.
She stands up while some maids help make her presentable again, brushing her dress with their hands and fixing her hair and jewelry.
I feel great after this perfect nap, and get up with the help of Maja, who brushes my hair quickly with her fingers, and straightens out my dress
Standing on the side of my mom, holding her hand, we are actually around the same height, though she is a little bit taller than me.
Her long blonde hair is straight and beautiful, and when she stands up, she exudes an aura of royalty, before it’s broken when she looks at me with a soft expression.
I take some of her hair in my hands before I can help myself and start brushing my hands through the locks of her hair like she did to me.
“Your hair is so beautiful, mom!” I exclaim.
I start blushing a bit, stammering, but she just smiles even brighter, before telling me I can brush her hair whenever I want to.
I’m living the perfect life!
We start walking out into the palace hand in hand.
-
Walking through the palace with my mother, I see all kinds of beautiful art and lavish areas.
The hallways are wide and bright with large windows and I can see that the sun is shining brightly outside with a cloudless blue sky.
There are maids and knights walking around us in a procession, all of them looking proud and with smiles on their faces.

We walk quite slowly, and the deep red carpet is very soft to walk on.
-
My mother is holding my hand and helps me slowly down the stairs.
-
When we walk past maids and knights, they all look at us with smiles and awe on their faces, and everyone looks happy to see me.
It seems everyone knows I’m up and feeling a bit better.
“The princess is awake, thank Helene!” a maid exclaims.
“She looks like an angel,” another maid says.
“It breaks my heart seeing the beautiful princess and thinking about her situation,” another maid says with teary eyes.
It’s weird to be at the center of attention, though I feel very comfortable walking besides my mother. I lean slightly more into her, being secretly happy that everyone is calling me cute and beautiful, though also a bit melancholic for the original Roseanne.
-
Deciding we are walking too slowly, I let go of my mother's hand and run a bit in the main hallway, everyone around me exclaiming at the sight.
I giggle brightly while running on the plush carpet.
I beckon my mother over, and she too laughs, while taking her skirt in her hands and running over to me.
I laugh and giggle and everyone around me is smiling brightly at the sight.
I spin once more, looking at my dress swishing around me, before running in front of my mother now that I can see the entrance to the garden.
She looks a bit worried and while I’m about to tell her it’s all fine, I lose my balance because of the combination of my now shorter height and me splitting my concentration to her behind me.
I fall on the floor with a loud thunk.
Everyone gasps.
It didn’t hurt at all, it was just a small fall, so I quickly tried getting back on my feet but my mother, Maja and the knights were already there helping me up.
My mother and Maja have tears in their eyes, while the knights and everyone around us are looking very worried.
“I’m okay, it was just a small fall” I say with a smile, but everyone just looks at me with pity.
My mother asks me if we should go back, but I again tell her I’m okay.
It doesn’t look like she truly believes me, but she takes my hand in hers again and holds me tightly, giving me a squeezing hug, before we walk slowly again, towards the garden entrance.

Maja Pov.
The princess is so kind and beautiful.
It feels nice to see her so carefree running around in a pretty dress.
She looks much healthier, though she’s still a bit too pale. I’m happy she was able to eat a full meal today, even though she coughed up a bit of blood.
Before I can think any other such thoughts, I suddenly see the princess stumble after running in front of the empress, her frail, pale body hitting the floor.
“Oh, no!” I exclaim.
She is just trying her best to live a normal life, running around like a normal girl, but her body is so frail from sickness she can’t do even that!
I feel terrible for not seeing the real situation.
I rush over together with the empress, helping her up, feeling how light her body is.
Luckily it seems like nothing is broken or hurt, but I can’t help the tears at the edge of my vision.
I can see that the others as well understands that even though she’s able to walk and run around, she’s still deeply sick.
Even though she tells us she’s okay, we all know that she’s probably feeling very weak and always has some pain.
The empress has a teary smile on her face and holds her tightly while walking at a slower pace again.
I feel truly sad at the thought of the princess never getting to live like the other children.
A couple of my tears fall to the floor, and I can see some of the knights also are struggling to hold back their tears.
“Poor Roseanne!”
