Chapter 10: Chapter 10 The Saintess Mercy

Vienna, Austria-Hungary

Near the Academy of Arts

June 10th, 1908

[3rd Person POV]

Inside one of the apartment rooms, a certain man is preparing for an interview that will decide his future and his life as he prepared his tie and combed his hair and stood up and looked at himself. Feeling nervous, but confident that he'll be accepted into the academy of arts and be a proud artist as he once Invision as he knew his mother would be proud of him and to prove his father that his profession was right.

But it didn't come to be as he was rejected as his art was not up to par and suggested trying landscape art which devastated the man.

And from that day on, he tried multiple times, and was rejected multiple times again. And he lost all his friends from him burrowing money and losing it all.

He went back to the apartment and raged and nearly destroyed his painting set but settled it down as he sucked it up and worked for a Jew who kindly took him in.

For the past few months, he took a liking to improving his art style and even sold some of his art for a few krones (currency) and sometimes even a few hundred krones if he was lucky.

This made him get by, by buying food and paying the rent until a certain individual made a surprise visit to his location to where he was painting alone.

The man was weary of the stranger who suddenly popped up and looked rich, and had some decorum and felt like he was a Noble. Being a poor man, he was scared that a noble would kick him off the street as he ignored the man every time he visited.

But after a few months of constant visiting, the man couldn't handle his curiosity and asked the stranger "Why do you stand there and watch me paint all day? Isn't it a bit creepy that you're acting like a stalker at this point?" The man said

The stranger replied "I suppose so..but I was curious about you, hence I did an investigation on you. You're quite a troubled man Mr Hitler." The stranger smiled strangely.

Hitler didn't quite like the attitude of the stranger and said quite angrily "then care to introduce yourself then? And isn't that against my right of privacy?" Hitler angrily said

To which the stranger introduced himself as Friedrich. "Well allow me to introduce myself, I am Friedrich, a stranger that's…looking for talents so to speak like many others of course." Friedrich spoke in a cryptic voice while his tattoo on his neck was visible as Hitler took a glance on it and back at Friedrich and replied, rather pissed but in a calm voice.

"And you're looking for a failed artist? Sorry to disappoint you then that I'm not that interesting." Hitler said disinterested on what the offer Friedrich will say to him to be hired by this…man out of nowhere as he knows how nobles play with the peoples hearts and minds as he once trusted once and completely failed to meet his expectations.

"Oh? You don't want me to help you out of poverty? To help you realize your passion for arts, or being something else your father wanted you to never become?" Friedrich probed

"YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MY LIFE NOR MY FATHER!" Hitler shouted at the top of his lungs, which people stopped to look at them. Which embarrassed Hitler and made Friedrich smiled as Hitler then said 

"Get to the point, what do you want from me instead of humiliating me." Hitler demanded.

Friedrich chuckled and went straight to the point and spoke. "Do you know a Secret society existing in the German empire Mr Hitler?" Friedrich said

Hearing those words, Hitler stopped to think for a moment as he was still young, he kept hearing about a secret society in the German empire and kept thinking it was just a rumor. But was it all true? Hitler thought and replied with 

"Vaguely yes, I caught the word in passing when I was attending arts school. Why?" 

Friedrich then clarified again with "Then do you know the Saintess of the German Empire?" Friedrich smiled at the words to bait Hitler

Hitler was shocked and spoke, Who doesn't? She is very well known here in Austria, along with her unique paintings that depict the Napoleonic wars and other types of beautiful sceneries." Hitler was speaking of the art that Erika drew in 1907 and was put on display in the Academy Arts in Austria. And coincidentally, Hitler saw the art and was shocked on how beautiful it was and snapped out of it for a moment and replied

"What's that got to do with me Mr Friedrich?" 

"It has a lot to do with you Mr Hitler. We are formally inviting you to a secret society along with other selected people of their respected talents. But a fair warning though, once you join, you're in for life. Do you understand me Mr Hitler?" Gone was the smile on Friedrichs face and he only showed his neutral but aggressive expression that would kill a normal person ten times over.

Hitler pondered for a moment as he was thinking of his current life choices and his family as well. Before looking at the man, the future promise was unknown but had a lot of potential as the man said the Secret Society hinted that the Saintess of the German empire was the head of it. And after what seemed hours of deliberation, he finally agreed to join and said

 "I fully understand. Where and when will I join?"

Friedrich smiled as he handed out his card and said his last words before leaving Hitler "Go to this hotel and tap the bell 3 times and wait for about a minute, then the staff of the counter will escort you to a table where you'll be given a phrase of "nothing is true" and you'll respond with "Everything is Permitted" once you answer them, you'll be given an initiation and a probation time of 2-3 months depending on how well you'll be integrated into the society. Once you're declared 'Clean' you'll be given a Tattoo to symbolize your loyalty to the Society and you'll be protected even in death.

Friedrich also handed a manual on the hierarchy within the Society as he further explained

"Here is the manual on what to do and don'ts inside the society's walls. You'll also have to earn your way in to earn stars. The maximum stars you can earn is 6 as of now. And to earn a star is either through contribution, duty, and loyalty and sacrifice to the Saintess herself. Do you understand me Mr Hitler?" 

"Yes, yes I understand" Hitler hastily nodded as he memorized the phrase and was excited but calmed down."

Friedrich was ready to leave before remembering something and spoke while walking away "oh and also don't forget, you'll be given questions and you have to answer them honestly as possible. Don't forget it!" And that, Friedrich left. With Hitler standing there being stunned and looking at the card of the said hotel named 'Halo' which surprised him that he never heard of this hotel in his life but he kept the card and prepared himself to join the society that will change his life forever.

After that, a few has passed and officially joined the Secret society, and his eyes and world opened for the first time of the wonders the Saintess did or Marquess Erika did for the German empire and how he wished that the Austrians should've had these changes years ago..

But it's no use crying over spilled milk as his art was bought in the thousands now and Hitler was now a decent rich man. He even invited his best friend August Kubizek who also joined the society late but was welcomed with opened arms.

And there Hitler learned the peril of a great war happening and Hitler is one of the volunteers that stepped up to become the representative of the society in Austria.

From there, he worked hard to gather supporters secretly into the society and has now gained considerable influence and reputation as he was now a 2 star in the secret society for inviting 2 Austrian general officers and 3 field officers and considerably boosted his status.

Although he liked the power, he didn't want to be disloyal to the Saintess for saving him from poverty and giving him the life and passion he always loved and will be forever always loyal to Erika until his dying breath. 

For now, Hitler's plan is to further expand into Hungary which will prove to be a challenge. But if pulls it off, the Society will have some control over the Austrian Hungary politics somewhat but it's debatable in Erika's mind that she can change everything inside the Crumbling empire.

For now Erika's plan to further expand the arsenal of weapons of the German army are working as intended and slowly gaining prestige and authority within the Wehrmacht and convince Hindenburg and Ludendorff to agree to some of her suggestions once she's reached high enough rank to properly influence the army better.

For now Erikas aim is to be a millionaire at least as right now her inventions and brands are earning her quite a ton of money as she also plans to buy Libya in the hands of the Ottoman Empire as she knows the ottomans are in dire need of money to fund their draining coffees.

Additionally, she also knows that in 1911, Libya will be occupied by the italians and will be forcefully annexed along with the Triplolitania and the Dodecanese Islands.

Erika doesn't want that to happen as Italy is still an ally of the Entente which doesn't bode well for her future plans.

Hence Erika wants to lobby the Ottoman Government to give the German empire these territories, or at least have Erika the right to own lands in these territories for a price if the colony option is outright rejected.

And she succeeds on her plans, The German empire will have a staging ground to defend these territories and hopefully still own them by right. As Erika plans to station troops in Libya to kick out the Italian invasion and keep the ottomans alive in this war for far longer than the estimated original timeline that she had in her past.

She realized that the Ottoman Empire will either collapse or still be surviving if she kept Abdul Hamid alive or fund him somewhat as she knows she isn't a good man, but to keep the ottomans alive, it's a lesser evil since she didn't want the ottomans to be weakened drastically before the great war happens.

For the Americans, she has to cause some damage hence she has planned a Ponzi scheme to flood America's stock exchange and wall street with fake currency and destabilize their economy for a few years and hide her tracks as she and her society will profit from this disaster that will bring about the recession and depression of America as it will cascade into Europe as well.

Right now I can build the most important things that are needed within the German empire. And I hope I'll make it in time until the Black Hand strikes again.

I do not know when they'll strike as I may cause a shift in their behavior as I changed Europe with my society existing. I just hope this doesn't fucked up my plans as I fear the black hand will be bolder and assassinate even Franz Son. God help us if that happens..
