Hi... Author here!
This is the new story that came up on my head for awhile, I'm just gonna write it like how my brain came of it, and maybe see what your (readers) reaction to this. If I get about at least 10 comments about this story then I might make it official...

"It is quite sunny today, huh?" True to its word it is. The sun glared down below and the sky was blue as the ocean. There was no cloud today, so the sun's rays pierced through everything. A few puddles from yesterday's rain have already dried out, no one could discern that it rained heavily yesterday as the evidence disappeared, not even the clouds. Only the busy bustling street remained.
"Elara, you need to focus on the target." A distorted voice said inside the said person's head. The voice was hard to distinguish from male to female as it stood in between. Elara, the addressed person, shrugged her shoulders in response. She heard grumbling and chuckled humorlessly. It was always fun to tease her partner, especially when that partner is ever so serious.
"Yes, well it has been a while since I got fresh air..." Elara said and shook her head when she felt a retort coming. "You don't count as you're literally inside my head- or brain in this matter. So no, only I'm to suffer not you so stop complaining." It was true. After the evolution of the world and fantasy creatures appeared, Elara woke up from her deep slumber and received her only purpose, and that is to aid humanity from its extinction.
Although she didn't know where such purpose came from, as her lost memories weren't really helpful in the case. Elara decided to go along with it after seeing that she could do such a task in the first place. And if the world gets destroyed and what's left of it, wouldn't that make her homeless and nowhere to go? That would be a no go in her book.
Of course, the destruction of the world isn't of her concern, rather, it's where she'll go next. Elara doubted that those creatures could kill her, at least that's what her instinct made her feel. And if those creatures did somehow kill her, then congratulations to them?... Anyhow, now with a purpose, Elara will do everything she has to achieve it. Although, with her lost memories, Elara was clueless about how the world now worked.
So, as if her prayers were heard, a distorted voice resounded in her head. At first, the situation unnerved her greatly, but as time passed by, the voice being useful on occasion as when Elara had to buy necessities, etc. she left it there. Now, together with the voice, which she named Ver, roamed around the world to aid humans in need. This in turn made her a busybody, literally.

So at the current time, Elara, in search of her target, sat on a post and waited. Her target this time was a boy, a teenager. Just in high school. The boy had a rough life, with his parents gone from the first invasion, he was left to fend for his little brother and himself alone. The task for this one is to help the boy defend against the loan sharks after him and his little brother. Nothing too fancy and troublesome. The only problem is whether will the boy succumbs to the power or will he use it in an unselfish way?...
Regardless, the choice isn't up to Elara but to the boy. Her only job is to gift him abilities, not too much power but enough for defense and future normal troubles. "You are awfully quiet, what's wrong?" Ver asked. It's word true, Elara was quiet, no it's more accurate to say she's observing. "I don't feel right about this, something is definitely wrong here Vera, and whatever it is, I have a feeling I won't like it one bit." Vera stayed silent at Elara's voice. If something is wrong, how will they know?
Right! Elara's unique ability. "Hey, use that ability." Elara raised an eyebrow. "Ability?- oh! You meant that one?" A mental nod affirms Elara's question. 'okay...' Elara closed her eyes behind the red blindfold and focused on her eyes. Constructed the astral panes and when she opened them again, Elara saw different colored strings connected to different things, be it humans or objects. Elara followed a grey string that connected to the boy from earlier and then grasped the grey string.
Elara's eyes flashed as she saw a different scenario, this time she saw the grey string separate two ways. Elara grabbed the right one first and saw a scene of destroyed surroundings, fire blazed through the sky, and the boy himself in the middle of the chaos. Elara blinked and she came back, this time she grabbed the left string and saw a completely opposite scenario of the first one. The right string made Elara see a family of four. The boy and his family when they grew up, but his little brother was not in the picture.
"So the little guy didn't make it huh," Ver commented after seeing the same scene. "So double pain but if things go right, he'll come out fine." Elara sighed, it was not rare to see something similar thanks to her unique ability, Strings of Fate. But it was still disturbing to Elara, so she rarely uses it. When Elara blinks another time, they came back to the mortal world. A hand immediately came to Elara's forehead as Ver spoke. "Still sickening?" Elara nodded and took a deep breath. This was not the time for a breakdown, right now her job is to finish the task, and she'll take care of other things after. Like always...
Unbeknownst to them, a third string appeared just soon as they left.
