Three employees who worked at the lab were already waiting here, one black female and two white males.
Jin Xianglan introduced them. “They are members of my team, Dr. Rice, Dr. Blair, and Dr. John.”
Lu Jia’er looked at them. “All the people present here have signed an NDA to participate in your examination.” Jin Xianglan said right away.
Lu Jia’er did not question Jin Xianglan’s professional attitude. When Lu Jia’er had made this decision, she had thought through all the possible consequences.
Under the instruction of Dr. Rice, Lu Jia’er laid down on the examination bed. Jin Xianglan performed a full-body scan on Lu Jia’er as well as brain wave tests and blood samples.
Lu Jia’er’s body scan image was projected to the control console in real-time with AR [1.Augmented Reality] technology. Jin Xingdong, who was standing on the side, saw the set-up inside Lu Jia’er, the advanced AI, so vividly for the first time. She was different from the AIs he designed. She was not made of steel and iron and there were no wires within her. Instead, she was all flesh and blood.
While mentally prepared, Jin Xiangdong was stunned nonetheless. Technologically speaking, Jin Xiangdong was very curious about how the human body could be combined with AI. Yet for the concern of humanity, he felt a sense of dread.
The three lab workers were analyzing data from many areas regarding Lu Jia’er’s body structure based on the image.
Half an hour later, Lu Jia’er got off of the bed.
When she came out, she saw the virtual image on the control console. At the moment, with an enlarged image, she could see the chip buried in the back of her head vividly.
Lu Jia’er stepped over and asked Jin Xianglan, “Can this chip be removed?”
Jin Xianglan, who was reading the data, raised her head. “I don’t think so! Judging by the scan, the chip is made of fibers and has been fused with the blood vessels and fibrous tissues in your head completely. Besides, look at those points of connection on the chip. They suggest ears and eyes. In other words, this is your hearing and optical center.”
Jin Xianglan pointed to the image. Lu Jia’er checked the enlarged virtual image again. A few seconds later, she said, “I now have a real sense of my body structure. I am all the more curious as to who created me.”

Jin Xianglan threw Lu Jia’er a look. “Of course you would be curious. But I heard from Xiangdong that you are now completely liberated from possible backdoor control.”
Lu Jia’er replied, “Maybe I am free. Or, maybe, I am still being monitored by them.”
“You are not sure?” Jin Xianglan queried.
Lu Jia’er said to her, “Ace said that I am like Lin Daiyu now.”
Jin Xianglan had to offer some comforting words. “As the person affected, naturally, you would be baffled by this matter. Unfortunately, we cannot share your burden.”
Lu Jia’er squeezed out a smile. Since she came out, she had noticed the absence of Jin Xiangdong. “Where is Ace?”
“He said he was going to the bathroom.” Jin Xianglan answered.
Lu Jia’er nodded. “Oh. I want to use the facilities as well.”
“I will show you the way.” Jin Xianglan proposed.
So, Lu Jia’er followed Jin Xianglan to the bathroom.
However, right when Lu Jia’er was about to step into the ladies’ room, the sirens went off.
As the sirens rang, Jin Xianglan was greatly shocked. She heard her cell phone ringing as well.
Jin Xianglan picked up her phone. “What is the matter?”
Jin Xianglan’s expression changed from shock to tension after she heard the answer. “What did you say?” Then, she said to Lu Jia’er, “Professor Lu, please go back with me directly to the lab afterwards.”
Lu Jia’er nodded. “Okay.”
