Chapter 57: Yes, let’s go to the hot springs!

Posted on August 5, 2021by Soafp

“Again with the repentance? Stop it, just stop it.” (Yuki)

I uninstalled the app game on my phone that I was playing to pass the time. I can’t do this.

A “simple regret” is a common mistake in adjusting the difficulty of a game. At first glance, it seems to be a good argument and a good reason to want players to play the game well, but in reality, it is just unreasonable or an element that imposes excessive stress and hassle, and as a result, it is a failure pattern that can only lead to unpopularity. It is troubling that these troublesome adjustments are so rampant. It’s so easy.

I quickly gave up and put my phone away in my pocket. When I turned my gaze forward, I saw my sister looking at me with an absurdly grumpy expression. Hiiii! She’s trying to shoot me with her eyes.

“Why don’t you touch it?” (Yuri)

“I’d be grateful if you could be a little more clear……” (Yuki)

“It’s in front of you.” (Yuri)

“Come on, let’s go, shall we?” (Mother)

My mother urged me to get off the train and my sister put her foot down, that was on top of my lap.

We were now on the train.

In front of me are my mom and sister.

Yes, today is the day of our family trip.

My mom and sister are sitting side by side on a four-seater seat, and I’m facing them. I put my luggage next to me. That’s all well and good, but for some reason, as the train started running, my sister, who was sitting right in front of me, took off her shoes and put her feet on my lap.

 Am I a chopstick rest?

My opponent is an archangel. No amount of contribution like this would be enough. As a footrest, not a chopstick rest, I didn’t say anything and let it pass, but apparently she was not happy.

“I thought you’d want to touch it, so I gave it to you.” (Yuri)

“What’s your perception of me?” (Yuki)

“Fufu. You know, Yuri. She does not communicate well” (Mother)

“I’ve never heard of such a thing in school before.” (Yuki)

“Only to you.” (Mother)

My mother tells me, smiling cheerfully.

A new and unexpected revelation has come to light. I recklessly asked my sister about it.

“Is that so?” (Yuki)

“That’s right.” (Yuri)

“I didn’t know that.” (Yuki)

“That’s right.” (Yuri)

“I see.” (Yuki)

“It’s kind of embarrassing for me to ask you to touch me.” (Yuri)

“Why do you assume I want to touch you?” (Yuki)

“Wha?” (Yuri)

“I wanted to touch you!” (Yuki)

“Be honest with yourself.” (Yuri)

“Okay.” (Yuki)

“Come on, you guys, let’s get out of here.” (Mother)

While I was having a desperate conversation, my mother pushed me back. The will of an archangel is beyond the reach of lowly me.

When I passed through the ticket gate, I found myself in paradise.

There was no snow on the ground, and the sun was shining like summer, but the fresh air and never-before-seen sights still added to the unusual atmosphere.

“There’s a certain vibe when you leave the station.” (Mother)

“How far is it from here?” (Yuri)

Mom and Nee-san were talking about this and that.

It was a two-day, one-night trip to a hot spring. We had originally planned to stay for three days and two nights, but my mother unexpectedly took a long vacation, so we decided to go on a trip to various places anyway. I was looking forward to staying at a hotel, but for now, I heard that she was going to take her time at a hot spring to recover from her daily fatigue.

As I watched them from afar, I spotted a store that sold soft-serve ice cream with a poisonous color, which is common in tourist spots, and immediately went to buy some. There were enough for all of us, so I should buy three.

The area in front of the station was crowded, probably because it was a summer vacation period.

There were also a few tourists just like us, and it was very lively.

As I walked back to my mom and sister, I noticed that they were somehow in a group of four. Two of them who looked like hot college students were talking to each other in a friendly manner.

I wondered if they were trying to pick them up.

It was amazing …… in such a short time.

My mother and sister are both beautiful. If they were standing side by side, they would look like beautiful sisters. When I think about it, meeting people on a trip like this is probably one of the best parts of traveling. My mother is also single, so she might find a good match unexpectedly. I don’t know, I’ve never been on a family vacation before, but I’m sure my moms have a lot of experience with this kind of thing.

Would it be better if I didn’t interrupt them?

As I licked the soft-serve ice cream, I looked at her and wondered what was going on. Aside from my mother, who was smiling socially, my sister looked blatantly disgusted. Hmm.

“I bought ice cream.” (Yuki)

“Where have you been, Yukito?” (Yuri)

“I went to buy this. Here.” (Yuki)

I handed her the soft-serve ice cream I was holding in both hands. I’ve already eaten my portion.

“Hey, are you her boyfriend?” (Guy)

Two college-aged men were surprised by my sudden intrusion.

“I’m a chopstick rest.” (Yuki)

“What do you mean?” (Guy)

“Yes, my boyfriend. It’s none of your business. Let’s go, Yukito.” (Yuri)

“I’m sorry. Kids like you guys are not my type.” (Mother)

“Oh, wait a minute!” (Guy)

My mother and sister pushed me to start walking.

The way they were moving with both sides of their body pinned tightly together, it looked like I was being taken away. Maybe this is how UMA felt.

“I was worried about you, wondering where you’d gone.” (Mother)

“You’re so quick to disappear when I take my eyes off you.” (Yuri)

“I saw some soft-serve ice cream and impulsively bought some.” (Yuki)

I bought it with the usual tourist tension, but the taste was not so good. Too bad.

“If you hadn’t dragged it out a little longer, all hell would have broken loose.” (Yuri)

“I’m glad the two of them are okay. It’s just a trip.” (Mother)

“Like I’d do anything.” (Yuki)

“Do you even know what just happened?” (Yuri)

“Don’t do anything dangerous, okay?” (Mother)

My mom with her anxious face and my sister with her dumbfounded face. I’ve been pegged. They don’t trust me at all. It’s not like I’m just going to beat them to a pulp. To be honest, this kind of trouble is so common that I can’t deny that I’m used to making the first move, so I can’t make any apologies.

“I’m sorry.” (Yuki)

“That’s what people who don’t feel sorry say.” (Yuri)

“Well, forget that. Let’s have some fun!” (Mother)

After a few minutes of waiting at the bus stop, the bus arrived.

As expected of a tourist destination, the shuttle bus service was very fast.

As I got on the bus and looked out the window, I saw a scene that might be common in most outlying areas. Large stores such as electronics stores, shopping malls, and drug stores were regularly lined up.

After a while, the scenery began to change and develop its own pattern.

“We’re here.” (Mother)

 Mom muttered to herself.

In front of us was an old but beautiful inn.

The surrounding area is full of anachronistic antiquity.

We got off the bus and walked through the scenic hot spring town for a few minutes.

We arrived at our destination, the “Ryokan Umibara”.
