Chapter 4: Chapter 4 – Battle for the cave

"Ruka's class and bad onii-chan?"

Ruka asks me with her eyes almost filled with tears, it seems that spending some time thinking about this right after she told me what her class is, made her think that maybe her class is useless.

"That's not it Ruka-chan, your class is really wonderful, in fact I think it suits you very well"

I say as I squat down to be Ruka's size while running my hand over her head.

"Your class is focused on healing, which means that if I get hurt, Ruka-chan will be able to heal my wound"

"Really? Ruka will be able to be useful to onii-chan? Hehe Ruka promises that she will heal onii-chan whenever he gets hurt"

With a huge contagious smile, Ruka tells me while jumping up.

"Anyway, we should get out of here, it will soon get dark and we can't stay in the middle of the forest at night"

Saying this Ruka and I started moving around trying to find a place to spend the night, while a light cold breeze hit our faces indicating that it wouldn't be long before dark.

After a few minutes of walking without finding anything that could be called shelter, I see ahead a small cave that could possibly hold about 5 people inside.

Some goblins were guarding the entrance, four were sitting around a small fire made of sticks holding spears outside.

And there seemed to be four more sleeping inside the small cave, there were a total of eight goblins.

Although it is dangerous to fight so many, I don't think we have any more time to look elsewhere, since I saw in a news report that some species of animals only come out at night to hunt.

And in an unknown place with creatures I've never seen, I don't want to pay to see if it worked that way here either.

"Ruka-chan stay hidden here and don't come out until I say so, I will fix these monsters so we can have that cave"

I say to Ruka as I see the cave and the goblins.

"You can leave onii-chan Ruka will not leave here until onii-chan comes back"

"Good girl, now hide yourself well and don't let anyone see you"

After saying these words, I approach the cave stealthily through the bushes, when I get close enough, I start to prepare for the fight against the goblins.

"First I will kill the four who are in front of the fire and then I will kill the ones inside the cave, although they are in larger numbers, I don't think I will have any problem, even if there are ten goblins, after all they are slow and weak"

After saying this I come out of the bushes and start moving slowly through the natural shadow that the cave is producing, avoiding being noticed by the goblins.

After getting close enough without being noticed, I trigger my ability causing my spear to be swallowed by flames again, and after a slow but necessary sigh.

I ran towards the goblins who were busy roasting the meat of some animal in the fire, and thanks to this I was totally unnoticed.

I quickly pierced two goblins standing next to each other with an attack that caused the fire to enter their flesh, burning them from the inside out.

Soon the other two goblins next to me realized that something was happening, grabbed their spears and looked at me angrily, probably because I had killed their two companions so easily.

One of them moves toward me, but I easily dodge his spear and pierce him in the head, finishing him off.

I turn to the last one who was looking at me with horrified eyes, as if he were looking at a monster.

Slowly I start walking towards him while the goblin takes small steps backwards, after my second step, the goblin turns quickly and starts running towards the forest.

I then quickly raise my spear and throw it in the direction of the goblin which quickly catches up to him and pierces him in the back, opening a hole in his chest.

After bringing my spear a little further ahead of the goblin, I feel a sense of danger and quickly lean to the side where an arrow passed through my field of vision.

However, I could not dodge completely in time and the arrow made a small cut in my cheek, I quickly turned towards the cave and again saw the four goblins who were sleeping earlier.

"You seem to have awakened from the noise caused by the previous battle"

This time, one of them used a bow as a weapon, while the other three used swords.

"Very well, you will help me in my experiments in magic, I hope you enjoy the show"

I quickly caused my spear to engulf itself in flames while a spiral of fire danced on my other free arm.

I command the fire to change shape and it quickly obeys me keeping the shape of sharp points like flaming arrows, I command the arrows and they fly towards the three goblins who were using swords.

Surprised and not knowing how to react, my fire arrows quickly hit them making an explosion sound "Boom".

The three goblins quickly begin to be consumed by flames and fall to the ground with their charred bodies.

The last goblin horrified that his friends died so easily picks up his bow and starts aiming at me, preparing to shoot, I run towards him and when he shoots an arrow.

A flame in the form of a small dragon's head appears in front of me and eats the arrow just before it disappears.

I quickly get in front of the goblin and pierce it with my spear, thus finishing off the last of the eight goblins.

Once again, I hear the voice in my head telling me that I have increased my level.
