"I think I don't love you anymore..."
Akari Akazawa said such a line to her boyfriend, Takei Tanaka, with an extremely serious expression.
It was as if she meant it from the bottom of her heart.
"Oh, okay. Bye then," Takei waved to her as he went to the door to exit the room.
"Eh? W-Wait! I wasn't being serious!" Akari ran and tried to stop him.
However, Takei was already gone before she could stop him since he slammed the door behind and ran away as quickly as possible.
Once Takei was out of his house and a fair distance away, he began to slow his pace.
"Was that a little bit too harsh?" Takei mumbled to himself as he reflected on what had just happened.
He knew that it was just an April fools joke and that she didn't really mean it, but he got the sudden urge to play a prank on her.
I really wanted to see her face as payback for what she said, but I just feel really bad now.
Takei had never seen Akari in such despair before, which left him feeling horrible since he was the person who made her feel such a way.
"I'll go get her some flowers and chocolates as an apology..."
He then decided to walk to the closest flower shop to buy a bouquet of roses for her and then went to a sweets shop to get a box of chocolates.
Once his apology items were all in hand, Takei returned to his house.
"How should I face her?" Takei asked himself as he paused right before turning the knob to open the front door.
Should I just stroll in normally, or come in as cautiously as possible? Hmm... let's go with the latter for now.
Takei began slowly turning the knob of the front door and finally made his way back into his house.
He could tell that Akari was still here due to her outdoor shoes being next to the entrance, he just needed to find her now.
"You're back already?"
Takei had thought it was Akari asking him the question at first, but it was just his sister.
"Ah, yeah. I got some apology gifts for Akari," Takei responded.
"Y'know... She was in a really bad state when you just up and left," Airi said. "You should hurry up and apologize before she does something irrational."
"I-Irrational...?"
"Nevermind, you were only gone for half an hour so I don't think it'll activate."
"What will activate?!"

Airi leaned in close to Takei's ear and whispered a hint. "Yandere mode, please hope that you'll never see it."
*Gulp*
"Ahaha, I'll take note of it for future reference..." Takei sweated thinking about what could've possibly happened.
"Off I go then," Takei determinedly walked up the steps to his room.
Once he reached the door to his room, Takei slowly and quietly turned the knob and entered the room.
The first thing he saw when he entered the room was none other than his girlfriend on his bed crying her eyes out.
"Waaaah... Takei, you big idiot liar! You said we were going to be together... Hic... Dummy!" Akari wailed while hugging Takei's pillow tightly to her chest.
Although it's very cute to see her like this, I need to hurry and cheer her up.
"U-Um, Akari?" Takei sheepishly called her name out.
Akari quickly turned around and saw the person she had been crying about. "T-Takei...?"
"Hey, I'm back..."
"Waaaah... Takei!" Akari yelled his name out as she pounced on him.
"W-Woah, wait a minute!" Takei scrambled to keep his footing.
He didn't expect for her to just completely jump on him and wrap her body around him, but he luckily managed to keep his footing.
"I'm so... hic... sorry about lying to you about not loving you anymore," Akari bawled her eyes out. "It was just an April fools joke, please don't hate me!"
When he heard her confess her true feelings, Takei could feel his heart being stabbed by the guilt of his actions.
"I'm sorry too... I knew it was April fools and that you were only joking, but I took my little prank too far," Takei sincerely apologized. "I'm really sorry, will you forgive me?"
He handed her the bouquet of roses and the box of chocolates as he continued to rub her head as a way to console her.
"Of course I'll forgive you, but I'll be expecting compensation later, okay?"
Akari was eyeing him with such intensity that there was no way he could say no.
"Y-Yes Ma'am..."
Once the situation was cleared up, the two returned to having a lovey-dovey day on the first day of April.
This was also the story of why April fools is such a sour topic between the two lovebirds.
