A competition!
Whoever took the First Clear of Scholomance would be the commander.
This was the suggestion that Lu Li offered; he wanted a fair chance.
Shang Guan Yun Luo left with a lot on his mind. He didn’t like result, but he also knew that this was what could possibly save him. If he didn’t seize this chance, he might not have a chance at all.
Shang Guan Yun Luo went back to talk to his leader – the Vice President of administrations in the Dawn Game Company, Huo Qing He.
“This man is so hard to talk to; I can’t decide on my own. President Huo, what do you think?” Shang Guan Yun Luo’s expression was filled with guilt. It seemed as if he had just been through a traumatic incident.
“Do you think it’s an embarrassment for a player to threaten you?” Huo Qing He didn’t seem angry at all.
“Mr. Huo, now’s not the time for jokes. I’m really concerned as to how to solve this. Sorrowless has already been the commander for three celebrity groups. Wouldn’t it be bad to not give him the position this time?” Shang Guan Yun Luo looked troubled.
“If he’s already had the position three times, then why are we giving it to him again?” Huo Qing He asked as he played with his little turtle that was crawling around on his office table.
“Ah, what do you mean?” Shang Guan Yun Luo was confused.
“Sorrowless has already reached the peak for his career. Even if he was given another commander position, it would just be a cherry on top for him. However, Lu Li is a different store. He is just a newbie that no one knew about until half a year ago. If he became the commander, we’d have a big story to tell for the celebrity group this time,” Huo Qing He said.
“I think I understand. Are you planning to make a new Gaming God?” Shang Guan Yun Luo asked.
“Gaming God…this is a good way to put it…” Huo Qing He lifted his head and laughed, “The rise of an ordinary player – isn’t this exactly what we need?”
“But he isn’t easy to control,” Shang Guan Yun Luo protested.
Huo Qing He shook his head in disagreement, saying, “Control? Have to ever controlled Sorrowless? Shang Guan, you still think too highly of yourself. I’ve told you many times not to try and control players. Lu Li has Ruling Sword under his command, who are worth millions, and he also has some sort of relationship with the daughter of the Shen family. Yet, you’re thinking about how to control him…”
“Sorry, Mr. Huo, I…” Shang Guan Yun Luo began to sweat.
“There’s no need for apologies. Your task now is to try and persuade Glory Capital to accept the conditions. You won’t need me to teach you how to do that, am I right?’ Huo Qing He waved his hand and signaled for Shang Guan Yun Luo to leave.
With a proper lecture, Shang Guan Yun Luo no longer tried to do anything on his own anymore.
After a few days, the news of this spread quickly throughout the entire game. This wasn’t just limited to Sorrowless or Lu Li; anyone interested could participate and fight for the position.
Scholomance!
Scholomance was a level 52-55 dungeon. The levels of the current players were slightly lower, so what they had to do now was level up.
Without reaching level 50, there would be no point in entering the dungeon.
Stratholme had already taught everyone an important lesson – the importance of levels in dungeons.
Leveling was a boring task that really tested on an individual’s patience. However, for the sake of the dungeons, everyone persevered. Both Ruling Sword and Glory Capital were training frantically in each leveling zone. However, Glory Capital seemed to be falling behind a bit.

Even so, they weren’t behind by a lot. They had two level 50s, while the others were all level 49 and only a step away.
“Breezy has been ambushed; he just made it out,” Square Root 3 messaged Lu Li.
“This doesn’t seem right. March Rain and the others were ambushed too and now it’s Breezy. Looks like someone is targeting us,” Lu Li said as another monster died to him.
March Rain and Lonesome Flower had just been ambushed not long ago.
Fortunately, there were other Ruling Sword players nearby who could help. The assassinations were very consistent, so if Lu Li and Square Root 3 were unable to detect them, their intelligence would be very questionable.
“Feels like Glory Capital,” Square Root 3 replied.
“Sssss,” Lu Li breathed out as he bit his teeth, then said, “This is difficult. Is Glory Capital doing this because they know we can’t fight them head on?”
They had fought Gangnam Royals previously because the guild was going downhill anyway, and their players weren’t that loyal anymore. They couldn’t really have a long term guild war. However, Glory Capital was a different story – they had both the age and strength. They were at their peak in terms of organization and enthusiasm.
It would be an exaggeration to say that this was a hopeless war, but Ruling Sword really couldn’t beat Glory Capital at this point.
Square Root 3 thought for bait and came up with a plan.
“Should I initiate a negotiation with Glory Capital? Old guilds like them usually care about their reputation a lot. If we act a little weaker, they might stop it.”
They couldn’t fight head on, but it wasn’t okay to leave the situation be either. They might have a chance if they took a step back.
“Sure, go have a try.”
Lu Li wasn’t the type to care too much about his face either. As long as the problem was resolved, he had plenty chances to get back at them.
Shortly after, Square Root 3 sent a message back.
“They refuse to admit that they sent people out to do these things, and we have no evidence either. This is tough. Maybe I can send out more players to look after you guys.”
To waste human resources at a time like this wasn’t an ideal scenario for Ruling Sword, who were rapidly developing.
“You’re too nice and honest,” Lu Li disapproved.
“I’m not sure what you mean, or do you have a better solution?” Square Root 3 was confused.
“Find players to go and spread some news. Say that Sorrowless is scared of losing, and is sending out people to cause trouble for Ruling Sword,” Lu Li said, then added in a weird tone, “Find as many negative things as you can about Sorrowless. Isn’t he the Gaming God? He won’t be a god anymore after we taint him.”
“Uhm…” Square Root 3 almost choked.
He wasn’t sure if he was talking to the real Lu Li. Since when did Lu Li become someone who played so dirty?
“Didn’t he have some rivals in the past? Find someone to make up some stories; just say that he only won in the past with dirty plays. Glory Capital can’t afford to lose at all because they have no confidence in Sorrowless. They’re sure that Sorrowless would definitely lose…”
Square Root 3 hung up the call, completely dazed.
He felt like his mindset had been completely refreshed; this was such a strange way to sort out an issue.
In a short amount of time, the entire gaming industry had heard about how Sorrowless sent players to assassinate Lu Li and the others. The situation got worse and worse as the media followed; this was bound to appear in the top searches for sure.
