Lu Li didn’t even have time to look at the stats and put it away in his inventory disappointingly before reaching back into the treasure chest.
Captain Vinci was Lv60, with 1,950,000 HP, and would require an entire hundred-man squad of Lv58 players to defeat. He definitely had other drops in the chest that were much more valuable.
The second item was a stone. Lu Li wasn’t sure what it was exactly and ran away immediately.
This would be the worst time to be greedy.
Even though Lu Li knew that there were likely more than two items, as soon as the System notified him that Silly Husky was killed, he had to run away as quickly as possible. Silly Husky only bought him around 20 seconds, which meant that the Boss probably one-shot the poor puppy.
There was a common rule that most players knew about shipwrecks. When the chests were opened up, the Boss would immediately become enraged, completely trampling over anything that stood in its path. Lu Li was afraid of the Boss’ ultimate skill.
Ultimate skills were usually AOE skills, meaning that they could deal damage to Stealthed players and had the potential to one-shot him as well.
He ran out of the Captain’s room and watched as the Boss shot a volley of spear guns from afar. The spears were faster than lightning and created a huge splash around the entire room.
There was no chance of him escaping, even with the bonus movement speed from the seal transformation.
He had no time to think and had to react out of reflex.
He activated his shoes and immediately dashed 15 yards ahead, dealing 200% damage to all targets struck while going into a state of invulnerability.
Although he was still in range of the AOE attack, he managed to survive the 30-yard-radius Ultimate skill.
However, he was still within the aggro range of the Boss. He quickly casted Gale Steps to enter into Stealth mode and activated Sprint to run as far away from the Boss as possible.
The Captain was still in hot pursuit!
His aggro range was simply terrifying. The Boss was determined to do everything he could to catch the Thief that had stolen his treasures.
Disengage: immediately teleports the user 15 yards ahead of him, cooldown 3 minutes.
While this was powerful mobility skill, it forced him out of Stealth because the effect was on his Dagger.
Lu Li managed to create about 30 to 40 yards between him and the Boss, but it still wasn’t enough to escape the aggro range. He regretted not planning his escape route before attempting to steal from a Lv60 Boss.
Despite this, Lu Li still had other tricks up his sleeve.
Shadowmeld, Stealth then Smoke Atomization!
Atomization: Instant Cast. The user’s body dissipates like a fog and is forced into Stealth with a 20% increased Stealth effect. The user can walk through some obstacles. 2 minute cooldown.
This was the active on his Dark Gold Belt – Hexx’s Belt.
Not only did it increase his stealth effects, but he was also able to walk through obstacles.

Captain Vinci was confused by the cloud of fog that was left behind while Lu Li was able to slip through a small crack and escape.
However, his heart sank when he saw that the Boss was still behind him.
“What the hell, is he going to keep chasing after me until I get back onto dry land?”
Lu Li transformed into a Leopard and his movement speed greatly increased. He saw a monster around 20 yards ahead of him and activated the special effect on his cape, allowing him to increase his movement speed by 40% when running towards a target for 3 seconds.
Before the monster could react, Lu Li casted Stealth again and disappeared.
This time, the Boss stopped in his track and was more than 50 yards away from Lu Li now.
50 yards was often regarded as a safe distance.
Most monsters would ignore targets more than 50 yards away, especially if the target was a Thief with a high-level Stealth.
Lu Li almost cried.
If the Boss continued to aggro onto him, he would write a lengthy post on the forums, complaining about how terrible the game was.
Lu Li swore to never aggro a Lv60 Boss again because the level difference was too much for him to handle.
He was too afraid to show himself and slowly moved away to create more distance. He waited for the seal transformation to come off cooldown, then immediately casted it, zig-zagging through patches of monsters and swimming upwards. He rested above water at a place that was free of monsters for around half an hour for his skills to come off cooldown, then headed back.
Why was he heading back?
There were four more rooms with four more chests to open. As long as Captain Vinci returned to his room, he would have a chance at obtaining the loot from the other four rooms.
He probably couldn’t defeat the Bosses in the rooms, but he was a master at the art of escaping from battles.
If no monsters spawned when he opened the chest, he could freely search the room without any worries.
The only concern he had was whether the captain returned back to its original spawn.
Lu Li wasn’t very sure about the monster mechanics in the shipwreck since they had been updated many times since he started playing in his past life. However, his current understanding was that the Bosses returned to their spawn after around 20 minutes.
He wondered if he should take a look at the items he looted from the previous run but decided against it.
Instead, he decided to be adventurous and look at all the items at once after looting all the chests. He knew that there was a Dagger, but didn’t hold high expectations for it.
There were four rooms left that he had yet to loot – 6,7,8 and 9. He approached carefully and noticed that the two monsters that had spawned had already returned back to their respective rooms. He carefully opened the door to the sixth room and looked inside.
Unfortunately, there was a monster in room 6, and another in room 7.
Perhaps the System knew that he was benefiting too much from these chests and wanted to make things difficult for him. He took some time to catch his breath after escaping two more times.
He wasn’t worried about not being able to escape, especially because the Bosses weren’t enraged. Even the captain in rage form couldn’t catch up to him, so the others had no chance at all. However, he had to wait for his cooldowns after each Boss room.
Rooms 8 and 9 contained Bosses that were 2nd and 3rd in command, so naturally, they were just as powerful as the captain.
