Chapter 1719: Responsibility

To use brash words, this female Night Elf was neglected by her husband, and hence, went and looked for C’Thun out of loneliness.

Of course, in reality it was actually the Old Gods that had corrupted her mind and brought her into an evil cult. This type of backstory was often seen in Dawn. The most famous one was probably of how Sargeras had become a fallen titan.

These characters didn’t lose their minds, which was different to the Undead. They still held their strong beliefs, and they were even stronger than before, but it was the content of their belief that was twisted.

For example, Sargeras was appointed to protect this world from demons. He performed his duty with noble and fierce fanaticism, keeping the world at peace for thousands of years. However, he witnessed the decay of the world’s soul, and the Titan felt fear for the first time in his life. Amongst a fit of anger and pain, he lifted his sword and the world was split into two halves. The explosion destroyed the Old Gods, and killed the newborn Titan at the same time.

Sargeras exhibited his fear towards the idea that beings in themselves were flawed. After meeting the Old Gods, he confirmed that thought. It was only by burning away everything did the Titan have the hope of stopping the Void Lord’s final target. For Sargeras, even a dead universe was better than a universe dominated by the void. Since life could take root in the universe once, then there were possibilities for life to blossom again after the decay of the physical universe had been eradicated.

Without a doubt, Sargeras believed that only by destruction could a world be truly pure.

Natalia was corrupted by the Old Gods and was instilled with a new belief. Azeroth in itself was a dormant Titan. Once she awoken, the whole world would be destroyed. The great C’Thun taught her that only be completely killing this Titan could the world have everlasting peace. Only then could the humans, Elves, Dwarves, and other races continue to live on.

Lu Li and Water Elf brought back this message to Mar’alith. They had repeated word for word what this dwarf had said.

The Night Elf Commander fell silent for a while in sadness.

However, he quickly found his rationality again, “My Natalia, why has she become like this? Elves, please help me get her back. If she really did…”

He could no longer say the next words.

The System notified that Lu Li and Water fairy had received a quest to go to the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj to find Natalia. If she had fallen, then they had to kill her off.

Under normal circumstances, the players would go complete this quest earnestly. They would walk towards the other street from the junction of the Twin Emperors and C’Thun, and would see Natalia once they got to the end.

She was pretty much like a hidden Boss. Her name had already been changed from Priestess of the Moon to ‘High Priestess of C’Thun’. Should they take her back to the Cenarion Circle?

They had no choice in the end but to kill her then go back and report on the mission’s completion. It was sad that Mar’alith had this type of relation involved in this quest and would remain in this cycle of sadness for a long time.

That was, until there was one player that rejected this quest.

According to word of mouth, this lady had suffered emotional trauma in real life and denounced Mar’alith as a bastard who talked about how much he loved his wife, but wasn’t even willing to go and look for her.

This so-called loss of his beloved wife was a result of his own doing. Such a person deserved no one – no wife, no children, no family…

This was pretty much what she said, it was just that her word choices were a lot more colourful. It was hard to imagine how Water Fairy could have a fight with anyone, so Lu Li had no choice but to roll up his sleeves and deal with it.

“Sir, to see what you’re doing right now, I truly feel sorry for your wife, Natalia. I think she made the right choice to leave you. You are a hypocrite. You cannot extricate yourself from your dream of power. You didn’t fulfil your obligation as a husband and spend time with her, nor are you a good commander. You don’t even know what responsibility is. The Cenarion Circle is full of talent. Even without you, they would stand on this continent for many years to come…”

Water Fairy’s two eyes stared at Lu Li without blinking once, and felt that his harsh words were simply beautiful.

This was a man’s promise and confession in itself. She had completely forgotten whether Mar’alith would be angered and kill them both.

“…So, put away your sad face. I feel for Natalia, and I feel worry for the Cenarion Circle. With a shameless and irresponsible commander like you, the future of the Druids will only go to ruin,” Lu Li concluded with a sharp breath.

Mar’alith was already in shock, or in other words, frozen.

He was a smart NPC, and had to manage a lot of things every day. Even if it were some unexpected incident, he could react immediately. However, he had never met someone who ridiculed him to this extent.

In this type of scenario, if it were any other player or any other NPC, it would probably end in a blood bath.

The NPCs in Dawn were not good-tempered like other games. They each had a distinct personality. If you were well mannered towards them, they might not buy into it, but if you weren’t polite, then they most certainly would be rude to you.

If there were conflict, then they would hammer the player to death. This was common occurrence in every city on a day-to-day basis.

It was said that even the Great Chief Saar had personally dispatched a player. As for Queen Sylvanas, she not only killed off impolite players, but her hall was also decked out with player corpses.

Mar’alith was a commander and also a general – it was no effort on his part to kill a player.

However, he couldn’t lay his hand on Lu Li, who not only had blessings from the Priestess of the Moon, but also blessings from Remulos. Remulos was the guarding god for the Cenarion Circle’s camp in Moonlight Forest – how could he kill someone he sheltered?

Plus, the words of this Elf truly made him speechless.

He knew that Lu Li wasn’t completely correct. He had twisted words and forced logic, but he couldn’t refute his inner pain which told him that this was all true.

He wasn’t a competent husband. Even though he said he loved his wife, he still couldn’t protect her. Even at a time like this, he had chosen his responsibilities of being a commander over being a husband.

“Why don’t you go look for her? Why don’t you think about how to save her?” Lu Li questioned.
