Chapter 16: Let the Arena Battle Begin!

Moments after declaring his goal to the crowd of fairies, the group had no choice but to watch the Arena Battle and the fighters take place inside the arena. Grimhild, Kyto, Elizabeth, Fhiron and Pippy all were together sitting in the stands that surrounded a large circle of open-space for the fighters of the Arena.

Grimhild tapped her foot impatiently and looked fueled with worry, however the others were cheering, or rather Fhiron was the only one to be exact—

"ALRIGHT JEAN! SHOW EM HOW IT'S DONE JEAN!!!"

Fhiron stood up and started shouting down at the open-space below them from their stands whilst the other fairies cheered on their own warriors.

"I paid a lot of money for you to win Estrilda! You better give them hell!"

Elizabeth looked up at the shouting fairy behind her, closing her one ear.

"Yeowww- they're really pumped up aren't they?"

Grimhild sighed to herself, placing her small hand upon her face.

"I should've known that Jean would go for this. It was foolish of me from letting my eyes off of him…"

Elizabeth suddenly wrapped her arm around Grimhild's shoulder, pulling her in for a side hug.

"No worry Grimmy! I'm sure Jean is capable of taking care of himself. Besides… look at that idiot! He has faith in Jean…"

She pointed at Fhiron who was shouting Jean's name, proceeding to take off his shirt and flexing his muscles.

"I, King of the elves is shouting you on! Therefore you shall not lose! My glorious look, and my magnificent power! Would you really lose in front of someone like me when I am cheering you on?"

The fairy-girls in front of them on the lower stands looked up and started to blush. They had a full view of Fhiron's body above them.

"Good evening ladies..~"

Fhiron stopped shouting to look down at the females in front of him, raising his brow with a seductive grin.

"How are you wonderful women today? Allow me to buy you all a drink— GUH!"

Fhiron was suddenly elbowed into the gut, forcing him back into his seat.

"I'm sorry for hitting you but we have more important matters right now."

Kyto said after striking the elf-kings gut, now sighing.

"The first battle is about to begin."

Fhiron winced his eye, giving off a small chuckle.

"Heheh… I thought you respected me like a king, why strike me? Either way I admire the bravery from you young Kyto!"

"Well I do respect you as a king, but as of now you're not in your realm, and you also count yourself as part of our group. Isn't that more than enough a reason?"

Fhiron cleared his throat and started to put his shirt back on.

"Ahem- touché young Kyto. You speak with dignity. Alright then, let us watch this battle, my pointless flirting shall not be committed!"

Kyto smiled.

"I'm right behind you!"

As the group faced towards the open-space below, they could see two large gates open up on opposite sides of the arena. One fighter emerged from one side while another did from the other side, however they noticed one of the fighters were quite huge.

"I-Is that a… giant?"

Elizabeth's jaw dropped, seeing a Giant for the first time in her life.

"These giants are bigger than I imagined…"

Fhiron said whilst crossing his arms.

"Wait, out of all the years you lived, you never seen a giant King Fhiron?"

The elf-king glanced at Kyto and snickered.

"Well Kyto, giants never leave their realm. Where they come from is the realm Jotunheim; a place beyond the realm of order, and a primordial place of chaos, magic, and untamed wilderness. Everything you see in Jotunheim is savage, however the giants live in small territories and away from the savagery."

Fhiron leaned forward and joined his hands together in a bit of excitement.

"This will be my first time ever seeing a giant fight. Also now that I explained it, do you see how rare they're to be in Midgard?"

"Yes… I see now. If that's the case then I'm worried for Jean whenever he goes up against this giant…"

Kyto nervously replied, not expecting Giants to sound so fearsome.

A loud voice suddenly echoed through the arena from sound-magic as the announcer introduced the fighters.

"GREETINGS FIGHTERS OF SKYLAND ARENA! ON THE LEFT SIDE WE HAVE A BEAUTIFUL GIANT BY THE NAME OF ESTRILDA FINA! AND ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE AN TEMPLAR KNIGHT FROM VRUNEMIR KINGDOM, HIS NAME IS LEORIO! TODAY THEY'LL BE FIGHTING ONE VERSUS ONE!"

Grimhild squinted her eyes while she stared at the giant lady. Her looks were quite wild, as she had a ponytail with red hair, sleeveless fur-armor, fur gauntlets, and fur shoes. She carried a large Axe with her that seemed to be brimming with mana.

"S-So my opponent is a giant…?"

The Templar knight said as he had to look up at Estrilda.

"May we make the best of our battle, Templar Knight Leorio."

Estrilda sounded a bit confident in her own tone of voice, hoisting her large Axe in one hand and taking a deep breath.

"Alright, I'm ready."

The knight started to shudder in his legs but held his position.

"I must win… for the sake of Immortality! And for the sake of King Vrunemir to become the richest man in Midgard! He'll be rich enough to even have control over the Rozenheart's!"

Elizabeth frowned from the Templar knights comment.

"LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!!!"

The announcer shouted, and soon as the battle begun, Leorio charged at Estrilda, releasing a war cry.

"CHEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

The Templar knight had his short-sword glow with mana inside of it, now extending it forward—

"THRUST OF THE WARGOD!"

The sword had moved at light-speeds and extended, defying physics and attempting to stab through the giant, however things didn't go exactly as planned.

"Huh…? Is that your best attack?"

Estrilda could see the thrust moving in slow motion in her eyes, as she casually stepped to the side and stomped right onto the extended-blade, crushing it into the ground, forcing it to shatter.

"You'll need a lot more than Light speed attacks to hit me. Even a baby dragon can do something like this…"

The knight dropped his weapon, in shock to see how it broke, and how she easily evaded his strongest attack.

"Alright, it's my turn now."

The giant would raise its foot into the air, now slamming it straight into the ground which rumbled the entire Arena.

"Woaaaahhh!"

The crowd of fairies jumped from the sudden action which caused an small earthquake, but they all noticed soon after, multiple pillars of rocks stuck up from the ground, bashing into the knights body from underneath, which sent him flailing into the sky uncontrollably.

"GAAAAHHHHH!—"

His armor flew off and scattered in random directions, his body unable to recover while blood escaped from his mouth.

"And for the finishing blow…"

Estrilda muttered under her voice, and leaping into the sky which shook the arena again and had left a large crater below her. 

"TEEE~YAAAAH!"

The Giant was already above the knight, holding her axe with two hands above her head. Before Leorio knew it, his body had been sliced into two, blood splattering everywhere and leaving the crowd stunned.

"D-Dear me…"

One of the fairies uttered.

"I-I suppose giants are truly savages as they say. After all… they came from Jotunheim."

Another fairy said, baffled to see the battle end so quickly.

"And that's that."

The giant puffed, placing her large axe upon her shoulder.

"Alright then, who's next? The winner stays in the arena until they lose, right?"

The announcer could be heard chuckling.

"AHAHAHA! INDEED ESTRILDA! AFTER EVERY ROUND THE ARENA IS REPAIRED AND THE WINNER IS RECOVERED FROM HEALING MAGIC! TO MAKE THINGS FAIR OF COURSE! ALRIGHT, NOW THE NEXT FIGHTER MAY APPEAR!"

Estrilda smirked, and closed her eyes.

"I guess this should be an easy challenge for me. Looks like I'll be the first immortal giant, huh?"

Elizabeth crossed her arms pouting.

"Her confidence really annoys me, definitely since she's gonna be Jeans opponent."

Grimhild nodded her head in agreement to Liz.

"Feeling is mutual. I could never get along with the giants in my lifetime… they always called me tiny, or baby human…"

Grimhild uttered.

"Jeez I wonder what they'll say to me then, since I'm smaller than you."

Elizabeth looked side to side all the sudden, an curious look on her face.

"That reminds me… where's Pippy? Did he leave?"

Grimhild also looked around, realizing the small fairies disappearance.

"Well he knows a lot about the Skylands since he lives here, I'm sure he'll be fine."

Elizabeth scratched her cheek, nervously giggling.

"Ahahaha… well I'll just go make sure."

She gotten up from her seat and scooted her way pass Kyto and Fhiron through the narrow path, trying to walk to the stairs.

"Excuse me guys!"

After finally reaching the stairs she would quickly run up them, making her way towards a door which lead into a corridor.

"Whew… I made it alive from the fairies screaming and throwing. They get more worked up than us humans huh?"

"Stupid, is this all you really got? A measly Bronze coin?"

*POW* *SLAM*

There was a sound of someone being punched and slammed into a wall down the long corridor, and from the sound of it, it was similar to Pippy's voice.

"I-I couldn't get anything else off of them… please give me another chance…"

Elizabeth slowly snuck her way down the hallway hearing someone begging.

"Is that Pippy begging..? What's going on?"

Elizabeth eventually stopped in her tracks and was next to another hallway in which she peeked her head at the side, lurking to see what was happening.

"A-Are those…?"

Elizabeth's eyes widened, seeing Pippy's small body on the ground with two larger fairies standing above him, crossing their arms.

"You have one more chance Pippy, If you don't bring me back 70 golden coins before tomorrow, your sister will be shipped off. You understand me, fool?"

Pippy whimpered and looked down in shame.

"P-Pippy understands… I will do whatever I can to obtain those coins… Sir Sauron…"

Elizabeth's eyes started to tear up, feeling ultimate pity.

"Pippy… are you dealing with all of this, by yourself? Blackmail…"
