Chapter 32: Prologue [Start of War]

The King Vrunemir himself, and the chancellor of Vrunemir Kingdom, Kaserole; Both were at an disadvantage in the presence of a witch known by the name "Agnes". An terrifying witch that could lay waste to entire countries with her magic, showing that her power was nothing to scoff at. 

As they were surrounded by the black mist that came from the envelope, it blocked off all exists and entree to anyone.

Kyto was standing on the sidelines watching, as fear corrupted his body alongside Kaserole and the knights around the king as well.

"Stay back you mage… I'll have your head!"

Kaserole had shouted, causing the other knights to point their weapons towards the witch.

"Mage you say? I already told you that I am an WITCH!"

The witch finally took the first step towards her enemies which caused the black fog in the room to release an odor.

"W-What's that smell?"

Kaserole covered his nose with one arm, and so did Kyto and Vrunemir.

"Don't inhale it in! The odor you smell is from one of the Eldritch Gods… their mere smell can drive anyone insane!"

Vrunemir had shouted towards everyone, however it was too late.

"O-Oh dear god… dear god… HELP ME! HELP MEEE!!!"

The knights were driven into madness as they screamed at the top of their lungs, disarming themselves by dropping their weapons and running around in fear.

"HELP ME GODS! HELP ME!"

One of the knights shouted, however the odor didn't manage to drive Kaserole insane, as he still was standing.

"Tsk, I see. This is some forbidden magic. Very well, I shall not show you any mercy mage!" 

Kaserole had said with a smile on his face.

"I already told you worthless human, that I am a Witch! Refer to me as the Eldritch Witch, Agnes!"

Kaserole would take his rapier and lunge at the witch.

"I already told you that I don't believe in witches!"

Jabbing his rapier forward it was blocked by a tendril of condensed darkness.

"Impossible… she can react to my speed?"

Agnes had smiled.

"What~? Is it so surprising to you that I have the speed to counter attack?"

Agnes had said, now slapping him away with the dark tendril.

"GAH!"

Kaserole slammed into a wall, falling down on his face.

"I'm the swiftest person in Vrunemir Kingdom… my speed is unmatched by all… so how can I lose here… to a filthy mage?"

Kaserole would mutter in pain.

"It's simple, it is because I'm a witch, and you're some lowly human."

King Vrunemir had finally stood up at the display before him.

"You've hurt one of my closest companions witch, now tell me, does the Dark Nation fear me that much to the point they send a witch to take my head?"

Agnes glanced at King Vrunemir and would smile.

"Fufufu~ of course they do, you're the almighty and powerful king. With your power you can see infinite futures and possibilities, and choose one of the possibilities that'll benefit you."

Kyto heard what Agnes said and glanced over at the King.

"What…? Is he really that powerful?"

The Cyrodel muttered.

"Heh. It seems you've done your research on me witch. Yes what you say is true, I gained that power from winning an Ouroboros duel, however it is just an simple ability that even the gods can do."

Agnes cackled from Vrunemir's statement.

"Kahahaha! What a load of crap! You know that your ability is even superior than the gods themselves. You can peer into the Realm of Sorcery after all can't you?"

Vrunemir would smile at the Eldritch witch. However the realm of sorcery seemed to be an mystery to even Kyto.

"I suppose bluffing won't do me any good."

The King would now approach the witch away from his throne.

"Listen to me carefully witch of Eldritch, you're in my kingdom, the kingdom of Vrunemir. Here everyone loves me, everyone worships me, I am the greatest, I am superior! I am to be loved first before all else! I am the great and almighty perfect being! Nothing is better than me and nothing can face me! In terms of power I am even equal to you witches. But Gods? Ahahahaha, at this point they're just another pathetic lower race compared to us!"

Agnes tilted her hand and scoffed at him.

"I suppose so… what a great speech you have given to me Vrunemir, but sadly you'll have to be killed by me."

Vrunemir frowned at the witch.

"You can join my kingdom and work for me, why do you work for the lunatic in the Dark Nation?"

Agnes crossed her arms and snickered.

"It's simple, it's because he's better than anyone in this world, and you do not compare to him."

Agnes had said without a hint of regret. Her words managed to anger the king, causing him to ball up his fist and gain intense anger inside his body.

"I'll rid of you from this world witch… I'LL DESTROY YOU, MANA FORCE, AND ALL!"

Vrunemir had suddenly jabbed his hand right through his chest, however it ended up going through some vortex.

"Come to me… PROSPECT!"

The blade that changes fate, and chooses an possibility out of infinite possibilities. That was the blade named Prospect, the kings ultimate weapon. 

Once it was pulled from the vortex in the kings chest, it would have an rigged appearance, black and dark blue paintings in the handle with a small black crystal in the middle of the hilt. 

"I'll destroy you here witch!"

"BRING IT ON KING VRUNEMIR!!!~"

The two of them finally initiated in their battle.

"Grimhild hurry, we have no time, Kyto is in there!"

Elizabeth had shouted next to the Golden Mage.

Fhiron had said.

They all went quiet.

"Eldritch magic? Who has such an dangerous thing? Is it that bastard King Vrunemir?"

Fhiron asked.

"No Fhiron, it is not. The only known Eldritch magic users is me… and Agnes…"

Grimhild replied, now causing Fhiron to step back a few times.

"Agnes…? How did… she get here…?"

Fhiron questioned.

"…I… don't know… but in terms of magic, she surpasses me by a large margin."

Jean looked at Fhiron and Grimhild a bit confused.

"So someone stronger than even Grimhild is holding up the barrier?"

Jean asked.

"That's right, Grimhild cannot penetrate the barrier of darkness even with catastrophe magic at this point."

Fhiron replied.

Estrilda was crouching in the background and tilted her head to the side, clueless.

"What exactly is that barrier of darkness?"

The Giant asked.

"It's the Darkness that Eldritch beings live around. Being exposed to it for long periods of time will corrupt someone's mana force and turn them into Eldritch beings, causing them to lose their humanity."

Grimhild had said in a worried tone.

"Really…? Then Kyto, how long does he have—"

Estrilda asked before being cut off.

"Kyto can last for long periods of time, he's an Cyrodel; Part human and God. With the god side of him he has incredible resistance to all Eldritch type of magic."

The group would gasp from Grimhild's comment.

"Really? If that's the case then Kyto has a chance to face off against her?"

Jean would say, having a large smile on his face.

"Yes, exactly. Eldritch beings were entities that the gods had wars with in old times, but the gods shown that they can resist the effects of Eldritch magic and their abilities, causing the gods to win in the end."

Grimhild said.

"Actually that's why Eldritch magic is even forgotten this day and age, because of the gods hatred over them. They made sure to get rid of its name the best way they could."

The Witch said, giving them a clear view on what Eldritch magic was able to do, and it's weaknesses. The group knew that Grimhild's words were absolute from her mysterious background from living so long, thus they believed whatever she said.

"If Grimhild says Kyto has an chance then I believe in her!"

Elizabeth shouted.

"Pippy believes in Grimhild as well! Even though I am better and much stronger, she is smarter!"

Grimhild had smirked.

"In the meantime let us warn the people of Vrunemir Kingdom with a lie. If they found out that their king is under attacked then they'll go in a massive panic."

Grimhild would say.

"What my goddess says must be done! So let us get a move on!"

Fhiron would yell, placing his hands on his hips.

"We will put our trust in Kyto!"

They all nodded their head.

"Are you staying behind Grimhild?"

Jean asked.

"Yes I'll stay behind, I'll make sure to aid Kyto in any way possible. The Barrier of darkness prevents my spells from going through, however I can fight fire with fire."

Jean chuckled.

"Eheheh, we trust in you as well Grimhild, you're the strongest!"

Jean would say, now proceeding to be lifted up off the ground from Estrilda picking him up by the back of his collar.

"Master Jean I have another idea! With my voice I can warn the entire kingdom from a shout! Us giants naturally can control sound, so changing the frequency in my voice can be beneficial!"

Jean nervously looked at Estrilda who gave her idea, proceeding to rub the back of his head.

"Uhhh… you'll start destroying peoples windows and mirrors doing that… also people are sensitive to sound so I think that's a bad idea Estrilda—"

Jean would honestly reply.

"Awww… fine then if master Jean says so, then I won't do it. Also can you start calling me names master? I don't like Estrilda from my masters mouth, maybe something like slu—"

"ENOUGH! NO NO NO! LETS JUST GO!"

Elizabeth had said, already knowing enough about Estrilda's masochist tendencies.

"Alright Grimhild we'll be back!"

The Rozenheart announced, proceeding down the steps towards the kingdom below, alongside the rest.

"Hurry back everyone… we can not stay in Vrunemir for too long, this will be grounds of war soon."

Grimhild closed her eyes and shown worry in her expression before turning around.

"Kyto…"
