Chapter 132 - More importantly, he didn't even get a bite of it. (2)
Inside the living room, Wen Rugui and Tong Mianmian were staring at each other.
Wen Rugui let out a sigh of relief when he saw the other two walking in.
He didn’t know how to be around children, especially a soft and delicate little girl.
After the braised chestnuts and chicken was done, Tong Xuelu quickly finished up the garlic cabbage and tomato and egg drop soup.
After those were done, Tong Xuelu decided to make some more dates cake and had Wen Rugui brought them with him.
She rinsed the dates clean, removed their pits, and placed not a steamer to soften them. She them mashed them up and mixed them evenly with white sugar, flour, and yeast. Warm water was added during the mixing process until the flour turned into paste form.
She poured the paste into a steaming bowl before she went to wash up in the yard and joined the others for dinner in the living room.
Inside the living room, Tong Jiaming and Tong Jiaxin had already spooned out the rice and they were all waiting for Tong Xuelu to join them.
Tong Jiaxin had been famished. Stretching his neck and looking at the door, he felt that he was already running out of saliva.
When he saw Tong Xuelu walking in, his eye lit up like that of a thief.
When Wen Rugui saw that Tong Xuelu’s face was red from heat, he suddenly regretted his decision to stay and eat.
She didn’t have to make so much food if he wasn’t staying.
Tong Xuelu herself didn’t think that it was hard work. She enjoyed cooking and also watching others enjoy her cooking.
Seeing that everyone was looking at her, her red lips curved and she said, “Why are you all looking at me? Eat!”
Tong Jiaxin cheered. “Yay! Dinner is served!”
Looking at the plate of braised chestnut and chicken, Wen Rugui really wanted to pick a piece out for Tong Xuelu but, with all the others sitting around, he finally gave up on that idea.
Tong Xuelu picked up a piece of chestnut and put it in her mouth. It was soft and tasty. Very good.
“Have more chicken, Comrade Wen. The chestnuts are very good as well.”
“I will.”
Wen Rugui picked up a piece of chicken and took a bite from it.
The chicken was soft and tender. Its rich taste popped in his mouth and it was unbelievably good.
Tong Jiaxin was always the biggest fan to good food. He poured the sauce onto his rice and had a bite of chicken with each bite of rice. He couldn’t have been happier.

“This is too delicious! I thought braised pork was the best meat that I had ever had but now I feel that braised chestnut chicken is even better than braised pork!
“I wish I can eat like this every day!”
Nobody paid him many attention as everyone was busy eating.
Wen Rugui didn’t say anything but he totally agreed with Tong Jiaxin.
Braised chestnut chicken was incredible, the garlic cabbage was crispy and tasty, and the tomato egg drop soup was delectable as well.
All of a sudden, he no longer regretted about his decision to stay.
He did, however, felt even grumpier about the picked cabbage with fish that he did not have a chance to try.
All the plates on the table were emptied after half an hour.
Tong Jiaxin leaned back on the chair and rubbed his belly. He felt that this was how life was supposed to be like.
To think that all they had were sweet potatoes and vegetables every day. That was not living!!
The date cake was done by the time dinner was over.
After it was cooled down, Tong Xuelu sliced it up and handed it over to Wen Rugui. “This is date cake, a gift for you for all of your help. Thank you so much for today!”
If it wasn’t for his help, she would not have been able to rent such a nice place.
If he hadn’t have the placed cleaned ahead of time, the moving in would not have gone so smoothly.
If he hadn’t borrowed a car to help her move, she had no idea how many trips she would need to make.
If he hadn’t brought the chicken and hen, they wouldn’t have meat for this meal.
She owed him a lot and would have to repay him slowly in the future.
Wen Rugui didn’t know that Tong Xuelu also made date cake in the kitchen.
After spending some time with her, he learned that Tong Xuelu wasn’t reserved like other girls.
Taking the cake from her, his lips curved upward, “Thank you for dinner. It was very tasty.”
Looking at the outside, she rushed him, “You should hurry back. You wouldn’t want to miss the bus.”
“Okay.”
