Chapter 157 - “Comrade, whatever you are having smells so good.” (2)
Wen Rugui’s Adam's apple moved up and down, and he felt an electrical shock run through his entire body when she grabbed his hand.
Tong Xuelu examined it and saw a very minor cut on Wen Rugui’s index finger, but luckily, it was not bleeding.
She rinsed his hand with clean water. “Nevermind. I’ll do the cutting. Your hands are meant for experiments.”
Wen Rugui looked at his hand after she had let go of him and said apologetically, “I’m sorry. I didn’t do a very good job.”
Tong Xuelu scooped the peanuts out. “You did quite well. Many men never even step foot inside the kitchen in their entire life. That being said, Grand Wei next door is no ordinary man. He is the one responsible for cooking at his place.”
A mann who can cook = no ordinary man.
Wen Rugui blinked.
He got it now.
Tong Xuelu sliced up the two white radishes with alacrity and drained the water after she had added some salt to them.
She minced the radish into strings and added flour and the right amount of glutinous rice flour to them. She then mixed all of the ingredients and rolled them into ball shape. Afterwards, she placed them into the wok and fried them.
Quickly, one after another radish balls were done.
Golden color radish balls were lined up looking like golden balls. They looked pretty and appetizing.
By the time the radish balls were done, the dough had risen.
She added the leeks that Wen Rugui had cut into the scrambled egg and mixed salt and oil into them.
She then cut the risen dough into small balls and rolled them out into circular discs before she added leek and egg filling into them. She folded dough into halves, pinched the edges tight, and added them into the wok to be fried. They only needed to be fried until both sides were golden.
She made a total of two plate-full of radish balls and 15 leek dumplings.
Tong Jiaxin could still control himself when Tong Xuelu was making vinegar cabbage, but now that he was smelling all the tempting aroma from the kitchen, he couldn’t sit still anymore.
He worried that Tong Jiaming would scold him, so he got up, picked up Tong Mianmian, and ran toward the kitchen.
Tong Mianmian, who was sleeping, “???”

Tong Jiaxin coaxed her. “Mianmian, just say you are hungry when you get inside the kitchen, okay?”
Tong Mianmian could barely keep her eyes open. She said in her milky voice when she heard what her Third Brother was saying to her, “Mianmian sleepy. Mianmian doesn’t want food.”
Tong Jiaxin’s teeth hurt right away. Nevertheless, he still wasn’t ready to give up on Tong Mianmian, his human tool.
Tong Xuelu wasn’t surprised at all when she spotted Tong Jiaxin.
She gave three of the leek dumplings to them and said, “Here. You can have more tomorrow. I don’t want you to eat too much before bedtime.”
Tong Jiaxin’s eyes lit up. He picked up a leek dumpling and bit into it.
The dumpling was crispy on the outside and aromatic with egg and leek on the inside. It was so tasty that Tong Jiaxin almost swallowed his own tongue with it.
After he had quickly wolfed down one, he immediately turned his attention to Tong Mianmian’s.
Tong Mianmian was no longer sleepy once she smelled the food. Seeing how her Third Brother was looking at her like a wolf, she quickly hid behind Tong Xuelu with her own leek dumpling.
Tong Xuelu couldn't help but chuckle when she saw that.
Wen Rugui tried a couple of the radish balls. They were crispy on the outside and soft and aromatic on the inside. They made one want to have more.
Tong Xuelu packed the radish balls and three leek dumplings up and handed them over to Wen Rugui. “Bring these with you for your train ride.”
Wen Rugui looked at her. “Thank you.”
There were no more buses, and he would need to walk over to the train station. As such, he needed to leave right away.
Tong Xuelu saw him at the door.
Wen Rugui turned to look at her. His lips tightened some. “I left the books with you.”
Then, before she could say anything, he quickly turned and left.
Tong Xuelu felt that his look was odd, but she didn’t give it too much thought.
When she went back inside the house, she saw a roll of Dacron next to the books.
She picked the Dacron up and ran her hand over its smooth surface. The corners of her lips rose up uncontrollably.
