Chapter 20 - "She walked right passed you like you are a pile of s**t." (1)

Tong Xuelu spent the night at the hospital with Tong Mianmian.

Even though she had called and let Tong Jiaming knew but, if they spent another night away, Tong Jiaming very well might go and file a police report.

Besides, she was running out of time on matters with both the positions and the death benefits. She planned to take care of Tong Zhenzhen’s matter once and for all today.

That being said, she needed to first take care of matters of Tong Mianmian’s and her own stomachs.

She went over to the hospital’s cafeteria holding Tong Mianmian’s hand.

They ordered a large bowl of meat porridge, two vegetable buns, and two hard boiled eggs. That cost a total of 7 meal tickets and 0.78 yuan.

“Big Sister, let’s not eat here. We are going to go broke,” said Tong Mianmian in her milky voice as she stared at the food on the table and drooled.

Tong Xuelu almost busted out laughing. “Don’t worry, Mianmian. Big Sister is good at making money. You stay with Big Sister and she will feed you meats every day. What do you say?”

The little bun’s limpid eyes sparkled and she nodded happily. “Okay, I follow Big Sister and I will have meats to eat.”*

“Ahahahaha……” Tong Xuelu finally couldn't help but busted out laughing. “You are right. Follow Big Sister and you will have meats to eat.”

Fang Wenyuan, witnessing the scene as he walked inside the cafeteria, frowned a little.

From what he could recall, Tong Xuelu never had patience like that for children. She was always yelling at the two nephews at the Tong family until they cried.

Somehow, he felt that Tong Xuelu had changed.

Regardless, that did not concern him. He was here today to talk Tong Xuelu out of filing a report on Tong Zhenzhen.

He really didn’t want to have anything to do with Tong Xuelu.

Unfortunately, the Tong and the Fang families were family friends and Mother Tong called him in person last night and asked for his help. He couldn’t turn her down so he promised that he would give it a try.

He called it a try but he was fairly certain that Tong Xuelu would listen to him. He was almost certain of it.

Thinking of that, he walked over to her.

A shadow casted down on the table.

Tong Xuelu looked up and saw Fang Wenyuan’s big pig trotter face.

She rolled her eyes to herself and lowered her head to peel the eggs. She then poked the egg with the chopsticks so Tong Mianmian could hold onto them and eat the egg.

Tong Mianmian had never ate an egg like that before and was very excited.

Tong Xuelu had her eat carefully so as not to choke herself then, she tore one of the vegetable buns into halves and started eating it slowly.

Fang Wenyuan, “?”

Why did he feel that he had been ignored?

He cleared his throat and sat down in the chair across from Tong Xuelu. “Xuelu, don’t misunderstand. I am here today to talk to you about Tong Zhenzhen……”

He worried that Tong Xuelu would think that he was there for her so he started with telling her to not misunderstand him. Nevertheless, he didn’t even finish talking when he was interrupted by Tong Xuelu.

Tong Xuelu looked up, gave him an impatient look, and said, “Did you not see that I am having lunch right now?”

? ?

That took Fang Wenyuan a while to process.

If her ignoring him earlier might be his illusion, then Tong Xuelu’s impatient was very obvious on her face now.

Was she upset that he didn’t help her out yesterday?

He really thought she was pulling some sort of a trick yesterday, which was why he slowed down his steps. He even felt a pang of guilt when he saw Tong Zhenzhen chasing after her but she wasn’t hurt after all, no?

Never mind, he would be the bigger person. “Okay, I will wait for you to finish. Then we can talk.”

Tong Xuelu couldn’t even be bothered to look his way.

Chewing slowly on her vegetable bun, she thought about all the delectable food in her previous life.

Crab roe soup dumplings, crystal shrimp dumplings, molten custard egg buns, and crispy bird next puff egg tarts. The thought of them alone could make her drool.
