Chapter 212 - Uncle Zong: I regret saying what I did. (1)

Edited by: Lulu

Even though Tan Xiaoyan had run away crying, nobody felt bad for her.

Liu Dongchang, too, left with a long face not long after.

Tong Xuelu went on to clarify. “Chef Meng, don’t worry about what Tan Xiaoyan had said earlier. I will return the position back to you as soon as your hand recovers. I will eventually get married and have children. Being a chef is not a good fit for me.”

Of course, she was just making that up on the fly to comfort Chef Meng. She didn’t want work to be like a war zone day in and day out.

Chef Meng did find what Tan Xiaoyan had just said a little bothersome.

He, however, immediately felt bad after Tong Xuelu had said that. “Of course, I trust you. Tan Xiaoyan is someone with evil thoughts. I’d rather beat my son to death than have him marry someone like her!”

In his mind, there were only men who couldn’t find themselves a wife. It was never a woman who couldn’t get married.

Tong Xuelu felt that the only reason Tan Xiaoyan was still single at her age had more to do with her personality than her looks.

As this was Tong Xuelu’s first day taking over as a chef, Chef Meng was in no hurry to take time off. Instead, he stayed inside the kitchen to give her tips and hints.

He, however, quickly learned that there was not much that he could tell her. The braised pork that she made him want to give up his chef position.

That way he could have the scrumptious food that Tong Xuelu makes every day.

When lunchtime came along, Chef Meng worried that Tong Xuelu wouldn’t be able to outwit Tan Xiaoyan, so he was still the one distributing the food.

His hand shook worse this time than any other time. Not only was there very little meat left, but there were also barely even any vegetables in her plate.

Tan Xiaoyan almost cried out from anger again, but Chef Meng didn’t care about her crying. All he said was, “It pleases me.” And that almost killed Tan Xiaoyan right then and there.

And just like that, Tong Xuelu had temporarily taken over Chef Meng’s position.

What she didn’t get was why Meng Qingqing was following her around like a tail behind her back. Whenever she saw Tong Xuelu, her eyes would light up,and her cheeks would redden. She was as excited as a girl who had run into her idol.

Tong Xuelu almost thought that maybe Meng Qingqin liked women.

Or was she really that appealing that she could attract both men and women?

Wen Rugui and Pu Jianyi took the train for one day and one night and finally arrived at Beihe Province. It took them another half a day to finally arrive at Dongfeng Commune.

It took them a bit more work to meet up with Jiang Danhong. The Red Star Production Team that she was part of did not want to let them see her.

Had Pu Jianyi not revealed his credentials and threatened to report them, their trip would most likely have been fruitless.

Jiang Danhong was dazed when she saw Wen Rugui and Pu Jianyi. “Who are you?”

Wen Rugui and Pu Jianyi had looked into Jiang Danhong before their trip. She was 30 years old right now.

The woman in front of them, however, was dark, her eyes listless. She looked weary and seemed to have weathered a lot of storms in her life. Instead of her real age, she looked like someone who was ten years older.

Wen Rugui and Pu Jianyi exchanged a look, and they saw shock and pity in each other’s eyes.

After getting over his initial shock, Pu Jianyi greeted Jian Danhong. “Hi, Comrade Jiang. We are here to ask you some questions about your uncle, Jiang Huarong. Is this a good time?”

Jiang Danhong, upon hearing the name Jiang Huarong, suddenly became aggravated. “Jiang Huarong is not my uncle. You have the wrong person!”

She was about to turn and leave after she had said that.

Pu Jianyi blocked her quickly.

There was thick hatred and disgruntlement on Jiang Danhong’s face as she said, “What is it that you want from me? I’ve already said that I don’t know him. Or was he the one who sent you?”

Wen Rugui and Pu Jianyi had not expected her to react so strongly.
