Chapter 250 - Just why couldn't her brother step up his game? (3)

Edited by: Lulu

Fang Jingyuan had known Tong Xuelu her entire life and she had never seen Tong Xuelu like that even when she took a fall or when she was beaten.

Feeling uneasy, Fang Jingyuan said, “Why did you leave the Tong family then? I mean the other Tong family. Uncle and Aunty Tong doted on you so much. They would not kick you out had you not leave.”

“You don’t understand what it was like to live other someone else’s roof that you don’t belong.”

Tong Xuelu’s voice lowered again. Her voice was soft and it even sounded like she was choking back on her tears.

That made Fang Jingyuan felt even more complicated.

She recalled how Tong Xuelu had asked her for help, instead of the other Tong family, when her brother was in trouble.

What was even odder was that the other Tong family didn’t seem to have done anything after they had found out about it. They didn’t not speak up for her nor did they help spread the words.

Could that be the reason that she left the Tong family?

Recalling how she had made fun of Tong Xuelu at the time, Fang Jingyuan felt very guilty.

“You……” Feeling guilty, Fang Jingyuan couldn’t find any words.

“What are you serving today? Give us one of everything.”

Tong Xuelu acknowledged that and returned to the kitchen.

On the menu today was meat stir-fry, stir fry eggs and tomatoes, and seaweed and egg drop soup.

Tong Xuelu had Guo Weiping stood by her and observed as she made the three dishes with alacrity.

Fang Jingyuan was mentally prepared to have “pig feed.” To her surprise, the dishes had yet to be served when the aroma spread from the kitchen window and everybody gulped.

“Oh my god, that smells so good! I have never smelled anything like this before!”

“is that really Tong Xuelu cooking inside? Why is it that I find that hard to believe?”

“Me neither. I’ve know Tong Xuelu for a very long time. I never knew that she could cook!”

Fang Jingyuan, “She didn’t know that in the past but she learned that at her new family. Just don’t bring up her past later.” There was no reason for that to be brought up.

The others understood Fang Jingyuan’s point right away. They all knew about Tong Xuelu’s new family’s situation and they all felt for her.

They guaranteed that they would not being up her old family and that they would turn over the page on all the “beef” that they had in the past.

All of the dishes were served in a little while.

When they saw the grease reflecting off the peppered pork, and the red and yellow stirred fry eggs and tomatoes, and the seaweed and egg drop soup, everybody gulped.

That smelled delectable!

They already smelled very nice when the aroma came from the kitchen. Now that the dishes were placed in front of them, the aroma was all the more domineering and appealing.

Without further ado, everybody picked up their chopsticks and started diving into the food.

The meat stir fry was spicy and savory, the meat tender and smooth. It was perfect to go with the rice.

The stir fry eggs and tomatoes were sweet, fresh, and had a good texture. It, too, went very well with the rice.

The seaweed and egg drop soup was light and complemented the spicy stirred fry meat very well.

They were all so delicious!

They never would have thought that not only could Tong Xuelu cook, but her cooking was so amazing!

That was beyond their wildest imagination!

When all of the food had been wiped clean, not only did everyone look at Tong Xuelu in a much gentler way, but there was also even respect in the way that they were looking at her.

Fang Jingyuan, for one, disliked Tong Xuelu a lot in the past. She did everything within her power to stop her from marrying her brother.

She somewhat regretted about that right now.

Had she known that Tong Xuelu’s cooking was so amazing, she never would have tried to stop her from marrying her brother.

If she had married her brother, did that mean she would have tasty food like this every day?!

Regret or not, she now knew that her brother was no better than dog poop in Tong Xuelu’s mind now.

Just why couldn’t her brother step up his game?
