Chapter 258 - "That looks pretty on you." (3)
Zhou Yan, “……”
Wen Rugui, “……”
Zhou Yan looked at him speechlessly. “Bro, you are kidding me, right? That’s not cool at all!”
Huang Qimin was very upset. To prove that he wasn’t joking and also secure his role as the romance consultant, he decided to faceslap them with actions.
As such, when the three returned to the base, Huang Qimin called up his girlfriend.
Huang Qimin’s girlfriend, “How come you are calling me at this odd hour?”
Huang Qimin said, “We haven’t seen each other for two weeks. I can’t wat to see your face that’s as big as a basin”
Zhou Yan, “……”
Wen Rugui, “……”
Lo and behold, they heard giggling coming from the other end of the phone. “Aren’t we seeing each other tomorrow? I’ll make you your favorite braised pork.”
After the call, Huang Qimin gave them a see-I-was-not-kidding look.
He then added, “If a woman’s face is big, that means her family is well off and that they could afford to have meat. You know that old saying? That having a big face is a sign of prosperity. That’s why you must praised that your girlfriend has a large face. That would appease them for certain!”
Zhou Yan didn’t believe at first but, now that he had witnessed it with his own eyes, he had turned into a firm believer.
Placing his arm over Huang Qimin’s shoulder, he said with appreciation. ‘Thanks, Bro. That’s exactly what I am going to say to my girlfriend tomorrow!”
After the three had parted ways, Wen Rugui returned to his own office.
He pulled out a notebook from a locked drawer and opened it up. Written on the page was:
1. She said men who can cook are extraordinary.
2. She likes ribs. Must learn how to make ribs.
Pulling out his fountain pen, he wrote under that:
3. Must compliment her when she wears new clothes.
4. Must compliment about her face being large.
He locked his notebook back up after he was done writing.
Time flew and it was the next time.

Wen Rugui and Zhou Yan both left the base.
Old Mr. Wan was no longer surprised by his presence. All he said was for him to bring home yummy food should Young Grass make any.
The next day was Sunday.
Wen Rugui woke up early. He bathed and washed his hair and only left after he put on new clothes.
Tong Xuelu was only able to take half a day off. Liu Dongchang wasn’t even going to allow that initially. Tong Xuelu had to threaten to no longer substitute for the chef to get him to give her the time off.
That wouldn’t have worked at all in the past. Liu Dongchang might even be happy.
Things were not the same now. Now that she had showed her face in front of the government officials, Liu Dongchang worried that if any of the officials come again, the dishes might not match that. He had no choice but to cave.
Tong Xuelu only took off after she had completed a meat dish.
Guo Weiping could make quite a few dishes now. As such, Tong Xuelu taking off for a little while was not too much of a problem.
She had just arrived home, changed, and finished washing her face when Wen Rugui arrived.
Tong Xuelu went to get the door.
She immediately saw the tall and handsome Wen Rugui standing outside the door.
It had been a week and the weariness on Wen Rugui was gone. He looked like he was in good spirit.
Wen Rugui’s ink-black eyes lit up when he saw Tong Xuelu.
She was in a set of white, long-sleeve dress and the cut of it made her waist looked slender and her legs long.
Wen Rugui’s heart skipped a beat and, at the same time, he recalled the lessons that he had gotten from Huang Qimin. Pinching his lips shut, he said to her, “You look nice.”
Oh wow.
He had learned to compliment someone!
Not bad. Not bad. He was too much of a bore.
Tong Xuelu made the observation in her mind. Her red lips curved upward and she said, “Thank you. I’m glad to hear that.”
Wen Rugui’s heart skipped a beat again. The lesson had indeed turned out to be helpful.
He was just about to say “your face is so huge” but, when he saw her face, it somehow turned into “your face is so small.”
He was dazed after he had said that.
He had gotten it wrong!
