Chapter 274 - They would never look down on women again! (4)

Edited by: Lulu

Tong Xuelu planned to head back to the restaurant after she left the examination venue.

She didn’t need to return, but she was a little worried about Meng Qingqing.

At that very moment, a man and a woman headed in her direction.

The man had a child in his arms. The child was leaning on the man’s shoulder covered by a large jacket. He was covered up so thoroughly that only a little bit of his hair could be seen.

The man and the woman seemed to be in a hurry. The two walked forward quickly and bumped right into Tong Xuelu, who had just walked out of the building.

Tong Xuelu was deep in thought and also didn’t see them. The impact sent her onto the ground.

The man apologized right away. “I’m sorry, girl. I am in a hurry. Are you alright?”

The woman next to him, too, apologized. Both of them have heavy accents.

Tong Xuelu was just about to say that she was okay when she saw the boy’s arm through the gap of the jacket that had opened up during the impact.

The child’s arm was white and soft, which was drastically different from the skin tone of the couple.

The man looked to be in his 40s. He was tall and stocky. His eyes looked like crab eyes, and his brows were thick. His skin was dark.

Meanwhile, the woman looked to be in her 30s. She was petite in size. Her eyes looked triangular in shape, and her cheekbones were tall. Her lips were thin, and her skin, too, was dark in color.

The two of them looked like your everyday farmers. They were dressed in gray and looked like decent people.

Noticing that Tong Xuelu was looking at the child, the woman quickly straightened up the jacket over the child.

She even took a step forward to block Tong Xuelu’s line of vision. “This is our son, and he has been running a fever these last couple of days. We brought him with us to the capital city to see a doctor. We need to hurry back. If you are alright, girl, we should be on our way then.”

They were about to take off before Tong Xuelu could say anything.

Tong Xuelu rushed up and blocked their way. “You can’t go!”

The man hadn’t expected her to suddenly run up and stop them. He said in a most pitiful voice, “Girl, please don’t do this to a couple from a village.”

The woman wiped her eyes and said, “Girl, please. We have train tickets. We will miss the train if you don’t let us go.”

The couple looked so pitiful that the passersby chimed in to convince Tong Xuelu.

“Girl, why won’t you let them go if you are fine?”

“Exactly. Look, the couple is in a hurry. Just let them catch their train!”

Oh? Are we going to play the pity card?

Who doesn’t know how to do that?

Tong Xuelu frowned a little, and her eyes reddened right away. “I’m not trying to be unreasonable here. They had stolen my money!”

The man with crab eyes stared at her ,and his look turned vicious. “Bull! When did we steal your money?”

Stealing money was a big deal in this day and age. If the passersby thought that they had stolen her money, they would definitely not be able to get out of there today.

That was the reason that the man looked vicious.

He was anxious. He was anxious. He was anxious.

Tong Xuelu took a step back and put on a startled look. “I have never seen someone so mean after they had stolen another’s money. Let me tell you. I am not afraid of you. If you don’t give me my money back, I am going to… to…”

She went on for a while but never finished her sentence.

That made her look more “fragile” in the eyes of the others. Her words sounded vicious, but they were not threatening at all.

People always have the tendency to root for the underdog.

The passersby were asking Tong Xuelu to be nice to the couple when they identified themselves as villagers and asked Tong Xuelu to not give them a hard time.

Now that Tong Xuelu made a look that was more pitiful, the passersby backed her up right away.
