Chapter 290 - The man at the next table collapsed suddenly. (1)
Tong Xuelu was startled. “How’s Qingqing now? Is she alright?”
Liu Dongchang’s eyes could shoot fire. He looked like he wanted to rip Tong Xuelu apart from end to end. “Don’t you worry. She survived. But what did you say to her the other day? You must have said something to her. Why else would she want to break up with me?!”
Hot dang. They had only been together for three days and she already wanted to dump him!
And she would go as far as to hang herself just to break up with him!
That was such an insult!
Tong Xuelu let out a sigh of relief when she heard that Meng Qingqing was alright.
She was stunned again when she heard the last part.
She thought Meng Qingqing would choose to follow her family’s arrangement and marry Liu Dongchang and have babies with him. She hadn’t expected that Meng Qingqing would have the courage to rebel.
Most likely her family did not consent to her breaking up with him. Which was why she had to choose an act as extreme as hanging herself.
It looked like her effort was not entirely in vain.
At the very minimum, the Meng family had consented to her breaking up with Liu Dongchang.
Nice. Very nice!
She had underestimated Meng Qingqing!
Seeing that Tong Xuelu was smiling at times like this, Liu Dongchang was so angry that all of his veins were popping up on his forehead. “You! Do you really think that you are untouchable?”
Tong Xuelu raised her brows. “Whatever do you mean by that, Manager Liu? Are you going to kill me or hire someone to beat me up?”
Having said that, she turned toward Guo Weiping and Tan Xiaoyan. “You two are my witnesses. Liu Dongchang had threatened me today. If anything happened to me one day, it is most likely Liu Dongchang’s handy work. You must tell the cops the truth then!”
Both Guo Weiping and Tan Xiaoyan were shocked when they heard that Meng Qingqing had attempted to commit suicide.
They had no idea how they should respond to Tong Xuelu’s words.

It was then when Liu Dongchang realized that he had been too rash.
He took a deep breath. “Comrade Tong, don’t be silly. I never said I wanted to do any bodily harm to you. I am, however, very upset that you had ruined my relationship with Comrade Meng. I would like you to apologize to me for that!”
Tong Xuelu snickered. “What kind of proof do you have that I was the one who ruined your relationship, Manager Liu? If you have none, then I, too, will kindly ask you to stop being silly and also apologize to me!”
Liu Dongchang stared at her viciously. “……”
There were more and more people on the street and many turned and looked at them with curiosity.
Liu Dongchang harrumphed and went to unlock the door.
As the shop was down Meng Qingqing that day, Tan Xiaoyan was the only waitress for the day.
Normally, she would be complaining and shouting at people. Today, however, she was as quiet as a chicken.
Tong Xuelu ignored Liu Dongchang and got off at her usual time. She went neither to the Meng’s or visited Meng Qingqing.
She had never intended to meddle in this from the very beginning.
She only reminded Meng Qingqing because she didn’t want to see Meng Qingqing jumping into the fire.
Meng Qingqing still didn’t come into work the next day. Instead, her mother Aunty Lin came in her place.
Aunty Lin seemed to want to say something to Tong Xuelu when she saw her but she didn’t know what to say.
Seeing that there was no blame on Aunty Lin’s look, Tong Xuelu felt a little relieved.
There were certainly families who would feel that Tong Xuelu had cost them a “good son-in-law” because of what she had said to Meng Qingqing.
Liu Dongchang and Meng Qingqing had only been in a relationship for 2 days and it was ended on the third.
Due to Meng Qingqing’s suicide attempt, the Meng family no longer pressured her into marrying Liu Dongchang. Instead, they bought a lot of expensive gifts and sent them over to Liu Dongchang, thanking him for saving her.
But the relationship was behind them.
