Chapter 296 - Is he really a wild man deep down inside? (2)

Tong Xuelu walked inside and made herself and Wen Rugui both a bowl of noodles.

Pu Jianyi came over before they were done eating.

He wasn’t hungry when he arrived but he suddenly became hungry when he smelled the food.

Tong Xuelu made him another bowl.

When the three of them were done eating, they went on to talking about the case.

Tong Xuelu, “I have a suspect in mind about this. I think it is Liu Dongchang, manager of the restaurant. He had professed his love for me a little while ago……”

She heard a SNAP before she was even done talking.

Tong Xuelu turned and she saw that Wen Rugui had snapped the chopsticks in his hand into halves.

Tong Xuelu, “……”

Pu Jianyi, “……”

“Oh hahahaha, Rugui. Don’t be so emotional, Rugui!” Pu Jianyi laughed like a dog.

Wen Rugui’s face turned red like a cooked shrimp. “I accidentally used too much force.”

Tong Xuelu almost spit from laughing so hard.

That was not “a little too much force.”

He straight up split the chopsticks into halves!

She held back her chuckle and carried on. “I turned him down immediately. I guess he was mad. He turned around and started dating another girl at the restaurant. And I suspect that……”

She then told the other two her suspicions about how Liu Dongchang had set Meng Jingjing up purposefully.

“There were simply too many coincidences. I felt that that dog had a lot to do with him. Later on, I told Meng Jingjing to really give it some thought. Her conclusion was to use committing suicide as a leverage to fight him. Then the two of them broke up.

“Liu Dongchang probably hated me even more because of that, which was why he aimed at me. I felt that he was the one behind everything today as well!”

Pu Jianyi gave her an appreciative look. “Wow, I didn’t know this about you. You are quite an analytical individual, better than even some of my colleagues. Say, will you be interested in coming to work for us?”

Wen Rugui interjected before Tong Xuelu could reply. “Do you think that the patient is in cohort with Liu Dongchang?”

Tong Xuelu nodded. “Exactly. That’s why we need to work on Cao Dajian!”

Surveillance cameras did not exist back then. Things would have been much simpler otherwise.

If Cao Dajian insisted that he was poisoned at the restaurant, even if she wasn’t able to prove otherwise, she would still get dragged into this and lose her job.

Wen Rugui looked at her with his dark eyes. “Let me take over from this point forward. I’ll have him spill the truth!”

Looking at his passionate eyes, Tong Xuelu’s heart skipped a beat. “I trust you.”

Pu Jianyi, who was still eating his noodles next to the two of them, “……”

Hey, I’m still here. Can you please show some respect for me?

Instead of returning to work, Fang Jingyuan went home. She had wanted to ask her parents for help.

Then she recalled that there seemed to have been a lot going on at her parents’ workplace lately so she turned to ask her brother Fang Wanyuan for help.

Fang Wanyuan was stunned when he learned that Tong Xuelu had been detained by the police. He almost reflexively agreed to help.

He did, however, stopped himself the very last minute.

If he leaped to his feet the second he found out that Tong Xuelu was in trouble and rushed to pull his strings, would it make others feel that he cared a lot about Tong Xuelu?

And if Tong Xuelu found that out later, would she feel very complacent about it?

With that thought, Fang Wanyuan changed his “okay” to “Let’s wait for a couple days first. I’ll ask my friend for a favor if nothing progressed in the next couple of days.”

Fang Jingyuan didn’t think that that would be his response after all the pondering.

She stood up abruptly, pointed at Fang Wanyuan and scolded him. “This is the exact reason why Tong Xuelu think you are nothing
