Chapter 300 - "I have a girlfriend." (3)
Gu Yilan’s eyes widened and looked at Su Yueshen in disbelief. “Yueshen, how are you back so soon?”
Su Yueshen hadn’t seen his wife in years and naturally missed her a lot. But he was more upset right now. “Are you not going to file a police report if I don’t come back?”
His son had been gone for 10 days but they had yet to file a police report!
Big Brother Gu, “Calm down, Brother-in-law. It wasn’t that we don’t want to file a police report, we were afraid. We were told that they would chop off Xiao Jiu’s fingers if we talk to the police!”
Second Brother Gu, “That’s exactly right, Brother-in-law. We didn’t do that because we worried about Xiao Jiu.”
Su Yueshen took a deep breath and said, “So you think that Xiao Jiu would return without the police’s involvement? It had been 10 days already and you were all just waiting around for things to happen?”
He had always known that his in-law’s family were weak but he didn’t think they were this weak!
Su Yueshen knew this was not the time to place blame and had them told him the entire incident.
The two Gu brothers had always been intimidated by their brother-in-law. Now that they saw his unhappy look, they surely would not dare go against his wish.
After hearing about the incident, Su Yueshen only wished to slap them all. “So they were able to take the child away without alarming anyone and left a letter at home the next day. Do you really not think that this was an inside job?”
An inside job?
The three Gu siblings were stunned.
Gu Yilan’s eyes were teary. “Yueshen, what are you talking about. There are no outsiders in this family. Nobody would want to harm Xiao Jiu.”
Big Sister Fang, their domestic help, returned at this moment.
Her looked changed when she saw Su Yueshen and she was grabbed by Su Yueshen the very next second.
Su Yueshen didn’t even bother interrogating her or had her tell her side of the story. He just had his Big Brother-in-law brought over a rope and tied her up.
He then went and searched her room. It didn’t take long to find a few letters from her room with handwriting matching that of the one that the Gu had received.
All of the Gu family members were stunned!
Su Yueshen couldn’t be bothered to look at their stupid faces. He just dragged Big Sister Fang over to the police station.

Even though Liu Dongchang had been sentenced but with the incident taking place at the government-operated restaurant and that the new manager had yet to arrive, the government-operated restaurant had been closed for business temporarily.
With her rare time off, Tong Xuelu gathered all the blankets at home to hang them under the sun.
She then tilted the land in the vegetable garden.
The weather was getting colder and any colder they would not be able to plant vegetables.
As the weather was nice, she got some bricks from the Wei’s and planned to build a barbeque stove in the yard.
Naturally, she had no idea how to build one and, unfortunately, Wen Rugui could not take too many time off and had returned to the base that morning.
Wen Rugui, too, was quite tired from running around between the base and the city recently and, as such, Tong Xuelu would not ask him to come over just to put together a barbeque stove.
Wei Guozhi was the one who finally helped her out.
Once the stove was done, Tong Xuelu planned to make some crackers and jerky and sent them to Wen Rugui.
She recalled Wen Rugui telling her that his monthly income was 278.5 yuan a month. That was a shock to her.
A normal worker made only 30 – 40 yuan a month. She hadn’t expected him to make that much.
She certainly had good eyes. She knew how to pick them.
Speaking of that, she suddenly recalled the “colorful” dream that she had the other day and she blushed a little.
She felt that she was getting old and dirty. How was it that she thought about these things all the time now?
Tong Xuelu shook her head, attempting to shake off all the R-rated ideas from her head.
Tong Mianmian and Xiao Jiu mimicked her and shook their heads when they saw that.
Once they started doing that, it seemed addicting and the two continued to shake their heads and giggled at each other.
Laughter filled the yard.
What a simple little joy.
