Chapter 309 - She heard footsteps and talking coming from the outside. (3)

Edited by: Lulu

Still, nobody at the Gu’s greeted her. None of them would even make eye contact with her.

Lai Muqing became more panicked. “How come nobody is saying a word? Do you know how awful my trip was? I went all the way over to the northwest, but cousin and his family had already left!”

Still, nobody said a word.

Lai Muqing frowned, and when she was about to say something else, she saw Su Yueshen walk out from the backroom and look at her with his piercing eyes.

Lai Muqing felt like a prey being stared at by a leopard. She shuddered. “Cousin…… you…… you are back?”

Su Yueshen sneered. “My son was kidnapped by your partners. How can I not return?”

Lai Muqing turned pale, and her body started to shake uncontrollably. “Cou… cousin, what are you talking about? I don’t understand what you are saying at all.”

Su Yueshen sneered. “Do you know where Chen Guifeng is right now?”

Lai Muqing forced a smile on herself that looked worse than if she was crying. “Where?”

“In jail. And her nephew who had helped her out. They had all been arrested.”

Lai Muqing looked white like a piece of paper, and with her anxiety rising through the roof, her teeth chattered.

Su Yueshen walked over to her and grabbed her collar. “Lai Muqing, who said you can touch my son?”

Lai Muqing had difficulty breathing when her collar was grabbed. “Cousin, why do you say that? I had always thought of Xiao Jiu as my own. I would never do anything to hurt him!”

“Chen Guifeng had already confessed. Leave the Gu’s right now. I’ll have someone take you to a production team in Heibe. You shall never leave the production team without my permission.”

Having said that, Su Yueshen gave her a hard shove. Lai Muqing stumbled back a couple of steps and fell onto the ground.

Lai Muqing’s heart throbbed. She didn’t even care about the pain at this moment. She struggled back onto her feet and threw herself at Mother Gu. “Aunty, help me please. I didn’t do anything. I am not leaving the Gu’s!”

Mother Gu looked at her with complicated emotions. “Why did you do it, Muqing? We had always treated you as one of our own. What is it that you are unhappy about?”

Lai Muqing knew that she could no longer deny it.

She frowned, and tears rolled down her cheeks. “Big Sister Feng told me that she was just going to keep Xiao Jiu temporarily. I will bring Xiao Jiu back after cousin’s return. That way I will be a hero to the Gu’s and would no longer feel that I am living under someone else’s roof.”

“I was wrong, Aunty. I shouldn’t have listened to Big Sister Feng. Please forgive me this one time!”

Mother Gu hadn’t expected that to be the reason. She started to waver.

Su Yueshen, however, did not offer her the opportunity to waver. He said coldly, “Leave now. I’ll have someone bring you there.”

Everybody there was shocked when they heard that.

Mother Gu, “Right now? That is so soon.”

Su Yueshen, “Why? Do we want to wait until she sells Xiao Jiu one more time before we send her away?”

Looking awkward, Mother Gu finally stopped talking.

Lai Muqing panicked. “Aunty, I’m not leaving. I am truly sorry for my actions!”

Mother Gu dared not say another word. She turned away.

Lai Muqing threw herself as Gu Yilan this time. “Please, Yilan. Talk to Cousin. I am really, really sorry. Please help me!”

Gu Yilan felt bad for her, but meeting her husband’s cold eyes, she said quickly, “Cousin, you should listen to Yueshen and head over to the production team.”

Lai Muqing wanted to plead some more, but Su Yueshen had already lost his patience. “You have two options. Head to the production team, or you can join Chen Guifeng in jail.”

Lai Muqing’s eyes couldn’t widen anymore. She looked at Mother Gu and then at Gu Yilan. She looked at everyone in the Gu family.

But nobody stood up for her.

How she hated them!

They were just saying how they looked at her as if she was one of theirs. Right! They just want to abandon her the second something had gone wrong!

Lai Muqing wiped her eyes, but tears continued to stream down her cheeks. “I’m so sorry, Aunty. I’m so sorry, Yilan. Sorry, Xiao Jiu. Sorry, everyone.”

“It was all my fault. If my being around would make things so difficult for you then, fine. I will leave right now!”

Mother Gu was heartbroken from all this. She hated Lai Muqing for being a white-eyed wolf, but she also had a difficult time sending her away.

Regardless, with Su Yueshen there, she dared not say a word.

Two hours later, Lai Muqing was put on the train heading toward Heibe Province.
