Chapter 9: Two options

This chapter is a little info dumb neccasary to lay the foundation of the story. 

And I haven't dropped this story, and never will, I am just recuperating from the harsh camp. Longer and better chapters are on the way

The moment I woke up I felt like I was hit by a truck, my head was dizzy while my whole body felt weakened. It took a few minutes for me to collect my mind and another minute to stand up properly. 

I shook my head to shake away the drowsiness and stretched my limbs one by 

one and started exercising to top up that blood flow through my body. 

Due to the safety provided by the height of this tree I felt like I could take it easy in the morning, but I erased that thought as fast as it came to my mind. 

Thoughts like that make one careless and lazy, and lead them to their downfall. 

Suddenly Trevor showed up in front of me, which startled me…… a lot, like a cat I jumped back forgetting the fact I am in a tree branch 20ft above, fortunately the branch was wide enough for me to land back properly

"FUCK!" I cursed, glaring at the robot ball "don't do that ever again"

[You are going to be master of the mystical Arts by next week or an Elemental dragon by the next three days, now choose which one you want to go through]

"Excuse me, what the fuck?" I asked with an incredulous look, If I was not startled enough before I am right now. 

[You asked me yesterday about magic, didn't you, well congratulations I will teach you how to do that or something similar]

I tilted my head in confusion at the sudden development, should I be worried? I don't know, I like to trust Trevor. He never lied to me before nor did he have done anything to harm me but still I am a little cautious and indecisive. 

Probably seeing my apprehension Trevor remarked [The One was satisfied with your speed of growth and have given me a decree to teach you the Way of essence]

My eyes widened at the remark, "The One did?

[Yes]

"Was-I mean Is he watching me? Like right now? Like am I under surveillance"

[The One is always watching over you through me] Trevor said indifferently

"Why? I mean, isn't he the ruler of the universe or something? Does he have time for watching me"

[Time is part of this universe which is part of The One so you don't have to worry about that]

For me the news of The One watching over me was pressurising, the same pressure you feel like when your employer is watching over your work or your teacher breathing over your neck while taking a test. 

But I guess there is nothing to do much, I just have to do what I have done. all this time, which is 'do my best' "Explain more about this way of essence and my options '' I asked. Trying to gather as much information as I can before I make a decision. "and please make it easier to understand"

Trevor bobbed and started to explain about everything I needed to know which basically summed up the fact that, for doing things that I want to do like magic and stuff I need an energy source.

Not the ones like electricity and nuclear energy but mystical energy. And this world has many forms of mystical energies, from mana to dark matter but they are not enough. 

Not enough for someone like a Guardian. 

You see, Guardians have to fight in different worlds and energies like mana are not universal, countless worlds have mana but there are also countless others that do not, so being dependent on mana will not work well for me. 

Moreover according to Trevor there is something about underline quality of these energy, they are not enough for a Guardian, especially when your opponent is also a Guardian level, the output of these energy lack the quality to deal damage against a guardian level opponents, so I have to look for other options

[There are two ways to get high quality energy, first is to become master of mystical arts, they draw from other dimensions that are solely based on energy, drawing energy from other dimensions will give you unlimited supply of energy, as long your mind and body capable of conducting it, and there is many dimensions out there all with wide variety concepts and origins which will give you wide arsenals of arts under your belt, and with Assimilation process and your dragon trait your physique will able to pick up many attributes related to the attribute of dimensions, with time you can become best master of mystical arts]

Trevor's explanation made the first option so alluring. If you think about it,it's a great deal, unlimited energy itself is great boon, and I can get wide range of tricks, I don't know about my physical change due to attributes of dimensions

but there are no free meals in the world, that what I lived by all these years and it's a fact that still haven't proven false, even for cosmic beings its stand true, being a Guardian is a second chance for me but It is also a responsibility, in a way a price I have to pay. 

"So Where is the catch?" I asked, 

[The catch is that most of the times these dimensions would have Overwatchers, they are the rulers of these dimensions, you need permission of these rulers to get access to these energy……… and there are times these Overwatcher out right refuse to give permission and sometimes they take advantage of it. By putting forward several demands]

I decided to put hold on to that and decided to check out the second options "What about Elemental dragon"

[That is your second option, which is to absorb the Essence and become an Elemental dragon, a dragon who use one of the four elements like fire, water, air and earth Essence can be considered as the lifeblood of The One, the purest energy entire existence, it was the catalyst that plays a big part in sustaining the balance of the world, it would be dangerously hard to control it and as there isn't any another Elemental dragon who use Essence as a source, the path you have to walk will be brand new one which you have to carve it on your own, something in which I am unable to assist you in it]

I see! If the first one has 'conditions' as the dark cloud, the second one has 'limitations'. But even so there are still so many questions. 

[Being a Elemental dragon is just the first stage, and according to element you choose you will gain several physical attributes]

"Does being a Guardian make these Overwatcher lenient on their demands"

[No, because most of them doesn't know about The One's existence, the once that do know The One also know the fact that 'It' does not interfere with inner celestial battles, and never will]

"What kind of demand will they put forward"

[it's up to each Overwatcher, sometimes it will be simple tasks and sometimes it will be to fight their proxy war, sometimes the enemies might be ones from other dimension Overwatcher and their proxies, the best example would be the Divine-Demonic battle fought by two groups of Overwatchers for dominance over others, in several worlds including this one]

Ok, that spoiled everything alluring about being master of mystical arts, I am already fighting somebody's fight right now and I am definitely not a fan of it. The only reason I decided to become Guardian was because of Trevor and the fact that I want to be out of my old life. Being the guardian was a good way or in a way the only way for me to move forward. At Least that's the conclusion I came to in the last few days. 

And that leaves me with second option, but before that I have a question

 

"Which one do you think my best choice is?" I asked Trevor with a little Hesitation.

Although I want to choose for myself, I don't know a batshit thing about this Mysticism and magic. So I feel like the best choice here is to ask someone with better knowledge on it. 

Trevor gave me a silent look of a judgement for a minute, then said 

[Both paths have their own troubles as you guessed by now, if you ask me both are equally good, so it is up to you which one to choose and don't worry about making a mistake, your growth is mainly dependent on Assimilation and your dragon traits! Right now you're just selecting a tool to assist in your growth, so don't overthink about it]
