Chapter 147: Did He Make the Entrance on Purpose?

Watching the buildings of Atlantis City pass by out the car window, Aurora yawned softly.

“Tired?” Cithrel asked curiously and with a serious, scolding tone. “You shouldn’t have stayed up to take care of all your work.”

Beside her, Alice nodded and pointed. “Nor do so many daily missions.”

This time, it was Aurora who looked doubtfully at both of them.

“You guys also accompanied me to do daily missions,” Aurora excused herself, and shrugging her shoulders, she refuted. “Besides, I have a long vacation ahead of me.”

They were already heading to the Cosmos Portals to travel to South America.

She didn’t know how long the tournament would take to finish, because they didn’t send a tight schedule, but what she was sure of was that she wouldn’t be able to return to Africa for a while.

Actually, it was possible, since there were also Cosmos Portals in the South American empire, even so, due to her job of taking care of Cithrel and the latter’s tasks, her time would be reduced.

For this reason, they took the first week of November in which the students ordered their armors and objects given as rewards to perform all possible missions.

Cithrel, Venali, and Alice accompanied her on daily missions, allowing her to focus on desk work.

Not only did she stay working into the night, but she also trained with her masters for several hours and was currently showing her accumulated fatigue.

Cithrel shook her head with a smile at the answer.

Unlike them who had jobs either as support, trainer or participant... Aurora was unemployed.

The role they gave her to travel with the participants was insignificant and without so much work.

When they arrived, they could notice that all the participants and the support team were present near the entrance of the Cosmos Portals.

These portals impressively facilitated travel and they would now travel to the American continent in the blink of an eye.

Edward and the third-year students present took charge of organizing everything while Director Vincent talked to his students.

The Director was a pleasant man who got along very well with the students and was very knowledgeable, which made the first-year students who didn’t know him very well approach him comfortably.

They all arrived several minutes early, so when the appointed time came, they were all present.

“Let’s go,” Ordered Director Vincent, inviting them all to travel.

Tickets for the Cosmos Portals had already been arranged, so they only had to wait in line and then enter the translucent celestial portal.

With a few steps, the group reached the South American Empire.

“We are in Elelin City, as it is commonly known. A city that is in the middle of the Amazons. This is the emperor’s jewel, and this is where the international tournament will be held,” explained Director Vincent in a clear tone.

All the students knew what their destination was, but Director Vincent continued to lead.

“The assistants will surely explain more,” said Director Vincent, pointing to the approaching assistants.

“Welcome young students!” Exclaimed the assistant in charge of the hero academy.

The assistant introduced himself and then, seeing the curious looks of the students eager to explore the outdoors, invited them to the parking lot where they boarded a bus.

Sitting down with her gluttonous friend, Aurora looked ahead to where the attendant was giving a signal to drive.

Pulling out of the parking lot, they saw several huge buildings and a very clear blue sky.

“Elelin City, isn’t it pretty?” the attendant asked and with a smile, explained. “We are in the center of the Amazons, in the ancient city of Manaus. Because of the Great Cataclysm and the Amazon situation, this city was abandoned several years ago.”

Most of the cities in the center of the Amazon were abandoned, and it made sense when wild magical creatures and beasts started appearing in this place.

Unlike the magical forest, the Amazon did not spread to cover all of South America, but nature became lusher and the creatures wilder.

It was a dangerous place where all kinds of creatures were to be found and where danger roamed everywhere.

“It was only when Emperor Victor unified South America that the disaster could be solved and now the Emperor himself has sponsored the creation of this city on the ruins of another city,” explained the assistant with a sincere smile.

It was only four years ago that Emperor Victor began to unify South America, but he was welcomed with open arms.

The corruption of the old South American countries was well known.

Inept rulers, chaos, and corruption made people could not stand it.

The populism that used to be so common in those governments and that division they always created among their people was useless when they were all in the same bag.

A bag that projected the fall of their countries as in Africa.

Governments using skill users by imposing heavy restrictions also did not help when more skill users started to leave their countries.

It was at this time that an SSS-Rank fighter appeared... Power, strength, and charisma.

There were very few SSS-Rank individuals in the world and no one could oppose this man.

And how could they?

Armies surrendered and countries fell to his power while his followers increased in numbers.

Faced with the doubt of whether it was better to have a government where literally the top commanders were in safe countries or a country where the ruler was in charge of the situation... Everyone chose that second option.

And it did not fail, as now the South American Empire was making progress.

The assistant did not give explanations with political leanings and favoritism, but spoke of the city with a certain pride in his voice.

The empire did not build this city as a government, but by the emperor himself who financed from his pocket, paying for this city just as he wished.

It was for that reason that it was known as the Jewel of the Emperor.

Being in the center of the Amazons, guilds of adventurers and companies arrived, settling down in search of making use of the area’s resources.

They traveled amidst tall buildings of all kinds and a crowded street of citizens, who were moving about everywhere.

The assistant sometimes pointed out buildings of large companies or branches of powerful guilds.

The city was enormous and quite populated, but they made their way to the edge of the city, where the area revealed different arenas and areas heavily inclined to skill users.

“This area was recently built. Here you will find the arenas that will be used for fights, but also all over the area. You will see stores of all kinds. Weapons, armor, alchemy, magic items, artifacts and dozens of other stores,” informed the attendant, and with a smile, he warned. “When we arrive. The hotel will send you a map with all the interesting places you can visit.”

Even though he said ‘recently built’, this place was impressive to look at and also very nice.

Not only were there gun stores, but they could also see minor restaurants or entertainment venues.

This area was designed to host a tournament and give participants and visitors everything they needed in the surrounding area.

The streets were crowded and not all of them were Latin Americans, but many of them were foreigners.

These might have been tourists who were attracted by the international tournament.

Some arenas were huge and spread out with different designs, which made the participants start to get curious about the format of the fights.

“Tonight at night we will have the opening party where all the bouts will be explained to you and you will meet the other participating academies,” warned the assistant, noticing the curiosity of some students.

Excitement was aroused among some students, and Aurora smiled.

It was undeniable that some were eager to see what the international tournament had in store for them and she was curious, too.

As the trip continued, the bus stopped at a large hotel.

“Leave your belongings in your rooms and if you wish, then you can head off to explore the surrounding area,” Director Vincent said with a smile.

Excitement was mounting.

“Wow...”

Aurora couldn’t help but exclaim as she saw the surroundings of the city.

She was in one of the tallest buildings where tourists could see the entire city.

Elelin City was in the center of the Amazon and surrounding it was a great wall, while they could see beyond it only the greenery of the Amazon.

Green and greener… An unlimited view of green foliage.

Aurora had come across these sights in the magical forest, but the radical difference was that here the vegetation surrounded this city with no roads connecting it to its territories.

“How do they travel?” Venali asked curiously.

“On the main roads there are large portals that connect one side to the other like a tunnel,” explained Alice, eating her chips and looking around, she muttered. “Pretty impressive to brag about. You can tell the reason the Emperor had to spend his money.”

They were in the middle of the Amazons, surrounded by those leafy trees and, worse, countless enemies and creatures.

It was clear why it did not seem so beneficial to support such construction and the Emperor paid for it himself.

The only ways to connect were Cosmos Portals, personal portals, and portals on the roads that opened a land path.

Flying or walking was nothing but suicidal.

Unlike the magical forest, in this area, the creatures were more savage because of the lawlessness of this place where no one controlled other beasts.

One would find some species of intelligent magical beasts that had their own society, but solitary creatures were the most common.

That was what Aurora knew of this place, even though she had never entered it.

“I was expecting a palace, but I don’t see one,” Cithrel muttered, looking around.

From this building, they could see the city and, to Cithrel’s surprise, they couldn’t see a palace.

Quite odd when one heard that the person who ruled this nation was an ‘Emperor’.

Aurora, looking around, could tell that Cithrel’s comment was accurate.

Tall and majestic buildings were to be found, and in the distance were some small elegant mansions, but nothing like a palace was to be found.

Even S-Rank warlords liked to flaunt their authority and power with majestic buildings, and here there was no palace as one would expect from someone who was known as the Emperor.

“Why are you gathering in that area?” Venali asked curiously, directing her gaze elsewhere.

At this moment, there were Cithrel, Venali, and Alice along with Aurora, exploring further and for such a reason, the princess’ bodyguard loosened up more.

Venali’s gaze was on the edge of the great wall where there was a large empty platform surrounded by many people.

People from the surrounding area were making their way to that area.

Even though there were lookouts, they could see clearly as tourists and students gathered in the area.

Aurora checked on her holographic watch for designated tourist spots and in that area, she only had a concise description of an area where on weekends the emperor could be seen.

“Shall we go?” asked Cithrel, curious.

The answer was to go down the elevator and head to that area like hundreds of others.

When they arrived, they could notice Érica and the others who gave her a place to watch from the front.

This area was a platform near the wall and while it was wide, there was nothing impressive.

Aurora checked the surroundings like the others and only noticed tourists and students from other academies, with no one standing out.

After five minutes of waiting, the first movement came.

It was a black car that approached the front of the platform, where no one was interrupting the passage.

The car opened and a woman with long ears and unparalleled beauty stepped out dressed as a secretary.

“Do you know her?” Érica asked curiously when she saw Cithrel look curiously at the elf who had just appeared.

“No. Even though I’m a half-elf, I don’t know all the elves in Terra nova,” Cithrel replied with an amused smile that made Érica blush at her question, still, she murmured. “She has a striking appearance, though.”

Not only did the woman have a slim figure and a serious atmosphere, but her hair and eyes were white.

That she was dressing like a secretary and showed a professional expression added to her attractiveness and, at the same time, the way she stood out.

Aurora guessed that she was an elf with albinism, since she possessed such noticeable features.

It was at the moment that everyone was lost staring at the elf, that the earth began to shake and the expressions of those present changed.

However, before they could react, there was a strong tremor, and the next moment, they saw a strange figure descend onto the platform.

“...”

There were no explosions when that figure fell to the ground, but moments before, it had reduced all of its impact force.

Still, that figure threw a large ten-meter-long snake to the ground.

The blood from the snake spread around and the man wiped his hands with the towel passed to him by the young elf woman who looked like his secretary.

“You have space rings, Your Majesty,” said the elf with a serious expression.

The man wiping his hands gave a glance at the snake and then at the woman whose professionalism was visible.

“I’m sorry, Ersin. The rings filled up,” replied the man, giving a smile full of calm.

That individual was the Emperor of the South American Empire, the one who unified half a continent and some of the few most powerful individuals in this world.

Victor Pellegrini.

With a deep gaze, a mature expression, and a sculpted physique, this man was in his prime and his appearance was that of a well-trained fighter.

He was not a handsome man like the elves or other celebrities and while he had a mature side; it was the atmosphere, attitude, and confident smile that stood out.

Greeting everyone present as the great serpent stepped into a space ring of the secretary, Emperor Victor surveyed everyone present.

He did not have the attitude of someone powerful or the imposing atmosphere that gave those of great power; he looked like an ordinary man like any other.

When the Emperor’s gaze stopped at their group, Aurora could see how the man’s lips tilted upwards before continuing as if nothing had happened.

Giving a farewell salute, Emperor Victor entered the car with his secretary.

In just an instant, he left the area as if nothing had happened while the attendants cleaned the blood on the platform up.

“Did he make the entrance on purpose?” muttered Alice in doubt.

“No, apparently he likes to hunt in the Amazons every weekend,” Érica replied, who seemed a bit knowledgeable and looking at the platform, muttered. “This is how the powerful act.”

An individual who was said to be practically one of the strongest men in the world used the Amazon as his hunting ground on weekends.

It was certainly impressive.
