While tongue-tied and deep in the other's throats, Kanae slowly backed Noah up until his ankles hit the foot of the rickety bed. They both fell onto it. She pinched the erect member between her thighs, which brushed against her lower lips each time it throbbed. They were only a few thin pieces of fabric away from being connected again.

The aroused and embarrassed look on Noah's face, his eyes squeezed shut as they kissed, excited Kanae like no other. She slid his pants down, freeing the dick that smelled strongly of herself from what they did in the carriage.

Kanae pulled her own pants down and kicked it away. She lowered her waist until they were connected again, and his tip breached the first gate of her honeypot. It continued deeper and deeper, and once it sheathed down to the hilt, Noah's eyes rolled back in ecstasy.

"Ahhh~ Being on top of you really is the best position. Since you're awake this time, I can finally ask— does my pussy feel good?" Kanae purred and leaned down to nibble on the point of his ear.

"It's… incredible, but…" Noah wrapped his arms around Kanae, then rolled her onto her back. He buried his red face into her breasts and began to suck on a nipple. Teeth and tongue assaulted the sensitive nub, but it brought her greater pleasure than she expected.

The act triggered Kanae's maternal instincts. While gazing affectionately at the nursing elf, she stroked his back with one hand and dug her fingers into his scalp with the other.

Noah thrusted into Kanae with abandon, and she welcomed his seed at every climax. He sucked her nipples so intensely that milk might even come out at this rate. However, having been nearly squeezed and drained dry earlier in the day, Noah didn't last much longer. Although his dick stayed hard within her due to a combination of succubus abilities, his body became limp on top of her instead after one more orgasm.

"I've never had sex until now… and I feel a strong urge to stay like this forever. Is that normal?" Noah asked.

"It's normal," Kanae answered with a quiet giggle. "Most men usually profess their love for me, too."

"Since we're intimate, m-may I request something?"

Kanae listened to Noah's request eagerly. It was an innocent one. She sat up and on her knees, which allowed him to rest his head on her thighs. The messy curls of his hair tickled a little. As he laid there, she coiled her tail around his still erect dick to wring what little cum he still had in him.

"What is it that you plan to do?" Noah suddenly asked. "I mean your grand plan? You've made enemies out of the demons and greater civilization. There's no place for you or your village."

"What are you talking about? Our place is where we live. I haven't felt more free since coming to no man's land. I can stay in my succubus form, have sex with whoever or whatever I want— We might not be safe yet, but I'm going to defend it with my life and raise Ehmvier into a force to be reckoned with. Anyone threatening it will face the fury of a succubus."

"Part of why my father was quick to join hands with your village was because he feared your growing strength. No one merely traipses into and out of a demon-infested encampment unscathed. I hope, when you one day become immeasurably powerful, you remember that we're still allies," he said.

"As long as you don't betray me and stay as a good sex slave." Kanae flashed a salacious smirk, tightening her grip on his dick and bringing him to one final climax that soaked her tail in cum.

A commotion from outside their room startled them. They got dressed and creeped up to the broken window. Looking down from the second floor, the two made out a pair of Protectorate guards pushing a cowled woman around. Kanae was about to ignore it to avoid trouble when they uttered something familiar to her ears.

"We know you're heading to a hideout."

"You Eminence cunts are finished. Give 'em up and we'll let you go. Otherwise, we can beat the answer outta you instead."

"Let me go! I don't even know what you're talking about!" the woman exclaimed.

"Eminence?" Noah muttered under his breath. "As in the Eminence of Sin that you're looking for?"

Kanae pushed open the window and leapt down as the Protectorates shoved the woman into an alley.

Noah rushed out of the inn panting. "Say something before you do that!"

They hurried after the Protectorates and found them cornering the woman with their swords drawn.

"Stop!" Kanae charmed them, only to recoil from a mental prick.

Both guards turned around, their eyes— including the woman behind them— went wide with surprise.

"Well, I'll be damned. It's the succubus!" one Protectorate exclaimed.

They lunged for Kanae and Noah, but the woman grabbed a blackjack hidden underneath her dress and clubbed the slower guard over the helmet. He dropped like a rock to the ground. The other made the mistake of turning around to the thud, and Kanae seized the distraction to put him into a chokehold until he fell unconscious.

"Whew. That was almost dangerous." Kanae sighed.

"Uhm… High Priestess? Is that really you?" the woman asked, choking up and peeling back the cowl to reveal twitching feline ears.

"In the flesh—"

She threw herself into Kanae's arms. "We thought you were taken away from us for good! Being in your presence again… I can just melt in your embrace…"

Noah cleared his throat, causing the feline woman to jump back.

"Well, I'm happy to see my followers are doing alright." Kanae smiled.

"Alright would depend on who you ask… Many abandoned the faith in order to protect their loved ones. Others have been imprisoned. The dungeons in Lograin are so full that Protectorates are sending us to Radevic. Many of us still believe in your vision, High Priestess. You may be a demon succubus, but it's thanks to you and the Eminence of Sin that we found meaning in our lives again!" she exclaimed.

"That's why I'm back to help those of you who wish to escape. Is it true you have a hideout? Can you take us there?"

The feline woman was more than happy to. She led them along the backstreets of the Carnal District, trudging through the homeless and destitute to avoid being seen. Although the blanket of night shrouded them plenty, fewer people out made them stick out like a sore thumb and easier to spot than being among crowds during the day.

"I don't get it. Why are these people content with subsisting? Couldn't they start a farm outside the city from all the land there is?" Noah whispered.

"They need tools to farm, which costs money. Owning land also costs money that they don't have," their escort said.

"But that's so silly. The city clearly looks like it could do with more food. As it stands now, the rich soil is going to waste."

Kanae agreed. So much land was going unused. And for what? So that the city could save it until someone with money would come along to buy up the plots? They could be earning so much more by exporting crops. The leadership only needed to provide these folks with a little helping hand.

They eventually reached a single-floor tavern in which the sign hung on a single hinge, swaying at the mercy of the winds. Rikard's Respite. The smell of cheap booze wafted up to their noses whenever the door swung open as people came and went.

Inside, raucous patrons packed the tables. Most of them looked like typical laborers than adventurers, drinking their troubles away. They weaved through to reach the front counter, where an elven bartender gave them a sidelong glance while towel-drying a stein. He locked eyes with the feline woman, then slid her a gold coin and gestured to a door at the end of the counter. She picked it up and urged the other two through into the tavern pantry, pulled away a rug to reveal a hatch, and led them downstairs to a wine cellar.

"Why, hello. I didn't expect to see you so soon, Kanae."

A small group of people, who were hunched over a table in the center of the room, straightened their backs and turned Kanae's way. Thedia offered a toothy smile from the far end of the table. She looked well, if not a little lacking in sleep.

"Thedia! What are you doing here?" Kanae asked, happy to see another familiar face.

"Aiding you and the remnants of the Eminence of Sin as per orders from my Lady Renya, who— I'm afraid to say— has taken an extended leave of absence," Thedia said.

"Did something happen?"

"There is a storm at sea in the form of the Ortesian Empire. They fear demons creeping across our continent and have mobilized their entire naval force. After all, should the demons conquer Lograin and Radevic, Ortesia would be next. But it isn't something for us to be overly concerned about. The real question is why have you come back?" she asked.

"I'm here to rescue Edina and bring as many followers of the Eminence of Sin to no man's land as I can."

"Then your arrival here is fortuitous." Thedia beckoned us to join the others at the table. "We were actually planning to move followers of the Eminence of Sin out of the city, but the inspections are… tight."

An entire map of the city was laid out with marks everywhere that Kanae and Noah couldn't make sense of.

"Are they? We were let in no problem," Kanae said.

She shook her head. "The guards were paid off handsomely. We cannot continue to pay for dozens of vehicles in the same way. We'll need a commotion big enough in the city to draw guards away from the western gate, then our wagons can make a break for it in the chaos."

"A big commotion would be Edina's domain with all that she can summon… I don't suppose you know where she's being kept?"

Everyone in the room shifted uncomfortably and traded uneasy looks.

"Edina is held within the Protectorate compound. Getting to her would be like attacking a dragon's nest," Thedia reluctantly answered.

"I don't care. Edina's my friend, and I'm not leaving her again. Either you tell me where the compound is, or I charm it out of you." Kanae glared.

"Very well." She sighed heavily. "I shall tell you, but how do you plan to enter? Don't tell you intend to assault the Protectorates outright?"

"Well… we happened to knock two guards out earlier…"

They returned to the alley where the guards were still unconscious and snoozing. Kanae and Noah stripped them of their equipment to wear for themselves. The armor, though slightly oversized, was incredibly lightweight. It couldn't protect them from anything. There was even a dent in the helmet where the guard was struck.

Thedia led the two across the city to the religious ward. The Protectorate compound was an L-shaped barracks with a rectangular courtyard and promenade. Guards were plenty, especially at this time of the night when most had come back to rest. The barracks, however, seemed less like a martial building and more administrative in architecture. It wouldn't surprise Kanae if Bardell just wanted a pretty place in Lograin to live.

"What are the chances Bardell and Estaline are in there?" Kanae asked.

"We have found that Bardell spends his evenings at Jewel. As for Estaline, I cannot be too sure. Her routines are hard to keep track of, but she may very well be inside. If you're not confident, there might be another way. Guards often bring prostitutes from Jewel to the barracks. We can sneak you in by that method,," Thedia suggested.

She declined. "We already have these disguises. I rather not keep Edina waiting any longer."

The two took a deep breath to steel themselves, then emerged casually from the corner to approach the barracks. Four Protectorates stood guard at the gate, looking exhausted and on the verge of passing out from a long day of standing around.

"Hey," a guard hollered to them the instant they crossed the gate.

They froze up, then turned around to face the guard coming up to them.

"Yes?" Kanae swallowed hard.

He tapped the side of Kanae's helmet and smirked.

"You don't gotta wear that around at night. Especially if you got busted on the noggin like that. Bardell ain't around to scold you." The guard tapped his own head, and only then did Kanae realize none of the guards outside had their helmets on. They rested underneath their arms or at their feet.

"Right. Thanks," Kanae said.

The guard returned to his group. Kanae and Noah took their helmets off on the way down the courtyard.

"No one will recognize us with our helmets off, right?" Noah asked.

"You, no. Me, I hope not… but that guy was right, look." Kanae directed his attention to others passing by within the building, who weren't wearing their helmets and were merely lounging around. It would only look more suspicious wearing it inside the barracks.

They took their chances with the helmets off and entered the barracks through the opened doors. The vestibule greeted them with two statues. One of the centaur, Bardell, and the other of Estaline and her giant sword. Stone floors laid with red carpet, walls hung paintings that depicted the Supreme One, and bright crystal chandeliers made the place out to be anything but a barracks.

"Where do we even begin to look?" Noah asked, overwhelmed by the long corridors to every direction.

"You two!"

Coming down the east hall was a human Protectorate dressed in the same equipment, but he also had a tabard that displayed their insignia instead of the poor patchwork they had. He must be a higher rank than the others.

"Have you given your report of your patrol route yet?" the officer asked.

"Uh… No," Kanae answered.

He sighed derisively. "New recruits… How else will Bardell know we're actually working? Follow me."

Not wanting to arouse suspicions, they followed the Protectorate Officer back down the east hall. Someone of his rank should know where the dungeons were. Kanae lifted a hand intending to cast a charm when very heavy footfalls ahead caused him to clear his throat.

"Lady Estaline!" The officer stood to attention, glanced over his back to Kanae and Noah, and clicked his tongue. "On your toes, recruits. You're standing in the presence of the Knight of Silver."

Kanae shuddered and held her breath. She lifted her eyes to the drakeling knight before them, who returned a hardened gaze of surprise and confusion. Was Estaline going to be an ally or foe?

"Captain, good work today. You are relieved of your duties. Allow me to debrief these two," Estaline said.

"But, Lady—"

"You earned your rest," she insisted. "I shall reprimand them for returning late so that they never fail to again."

The officer sneered at Kanae and Noah, believing himself to have received a Knight of Color's good graces. He left with a stride in his step and whistled a merry tune. When he had gone, the drakeling knight maintained her vigil on the two.

"This is a very dangerous place you have come to," Estaline quietly warned them.

"I know how it looks, but I have to find Edina. You have to know where she is, don't you?" Kanae pleaded.

The knight shut her eyes and sighed through her nose. "Even if I did, I cannot tell you. Aiding and abetting demons… Have you any idea the trouble I will find myself in? The shame I might bring to my family?"

"You know in your chivalrous heart that Bardell doesn't belong in the Knights of Colors. Suspecting and harming innocent folks in the city, imprisoning followers who believe differently than the established gods, and worse of all— colluding with demons."

"What?" Estaline's eyes snapped open.

Kanae opened her mouth to say more, but Estaline silenced them with a clawed finger to her lips.

"Not here. Come with me," she said.

They followed Estaline to the second floor of the barracks, to her beautifully furnished bedchamber with a grand, almost skyline view of the larger churches' steeples and rooftops. Kanae and Noah breathed a sigh of relief, fearful that the knight might have led them into a trap.

"I'm not lying," Kanae began. "There's an army of demons in no man's land led by two demon lieutenants, Lady Dahlia who previously attacked Orturic and Minestra Val'doun. I infiltrated their camp not too long ago. Minestra mentioned something about Bardell being a pet project."

"Understand that this is a very serious accusation. And an army of demons in no man's land? That's almost unheard of. Unless you have proof, how am I to believe you?" Estaline walked to the balcony and clenched her fists.

"Unheard of for people like you who are safe within these walls. The army is massive, and they may have more. I wouldn't lie about this because my home, Highgreen, is in danger," Noah said.

They had just as much to lose. If the demons were to launch an attack, they would need to get through Highgreen first.

Kanae put herself in front of Estaline so that she couldn't look anywhere else. "You know I defeated Lady before. I'm as much an enemy to the demons as you are."

"Edina is kept imprisoned in a separate cell in the dungeons," Estaline began. "You can reach it past the mess hall by taking the west corridor at the entrance. But you are on your own. I cannot help you. I pray you find your friend and escape before I'm informed, otherwise—"

"I understand. You do what you have to do," she told the knight.

Estaline extended a hand to Kanae. They clasped and shook on it. The knight was trapped between a rock and a hard place. She didn't blame her for that. When the two let go, Estaline left the bedchamber and promised not to tell a soul they were here. What happened next was up to them.

"Can we really trust her?" Noah asked.

"Yeah. After what Estaline's done for me in the past, I trust her," Kanae said.

"So, what now? We should get going, right? That man you mentioned, Bardell? We need to get this done before morning."

"What's the hurry? We're in a barracks full of strong guards and soldiers. I've got a better plan."

"And… what's the plan…?" he hesitated to ask.

"Thedia said that guards tend to bring prostitutes to the barracks. You're still dressed as one, and I can be the prostitute." Kanae smirked.
